The 12th India Security Summit on the theme "Towards New National Cyber Security Strategy" was held in New Delhi.
During the conference, many issues were discussed such as protection of critical national infrastructure, emerging cyber threats: incidents, challenges and response.
National Sports Day 2019
To commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, National Sports Day is celebrated across the country on 29 August.
Stressing the need to stay fit and healthy, this day is observed to spread awareness on the importance of sports and daily activities in every individual's life.

RDSO To Organise Mega Vendor Meet For Business Opportunities In RailwaysÂ
In a significant move to show-case greater business opportunities in the railway sector, the research arm of Indian Railways is organising a special Mega Vendor Meet in Lucknow on August 30, 2019.
The meet will focus on the RDSO controlled items which have less than three RDSO approved vendors.
The meet shall make available a platform for direct one-to-one interaction and discussions of Industry with RDSO. Live display of selected RDSO items shall be kept at the meeting venue.
The body has also sent intimation to Industrial bodies like Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM), Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) for spreading awareness and inviting participation in the meet.
International Day Against Nuclear Tests: 29 AugustÂ
On 2nd December 2009, the 64th session of the United Nations General Assembly declared 29 August the International Day against Nuclear Tests by unanimously adopting resolution 64/35.
The resolution calls for increasing awareness and education "about the effects of nuclear weapon test explosions or any other nuclear explosions and the need for their cessation as one of the means of achieving the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world."
The resolution was initiated by the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with a large number of sponsors and cosponsors with a view to commemorating the closure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test site on 29 August 1991.
2010 marked the inaugural commemoration of the International Day against Nuclear Tests. In each subsequent year, the day has been observed by coordinating various activities throughout the world, such as symposia, conferences, exhibits, competitions, publications, lectures, media broadcasts and other initiatives.

Community Radio Sammelan Will Be Held In New Delhi
The seventh 'Community Radio Sammelan' will be held here from August 27-29, 2019 during which representatives of community radio stations will discuss experiences and possibilities of programming for raising awareness on sustainable development goals in a better manner.
The 'Sammelan', being organised at Dr B R Ambedkar Bhawan by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will also witness discussion on various flagship schemes of the government such as the Jal Shakti Abhiyaan and efforts for disaster risk reduction.
Research, production, broadcasting, dissemination of social welfare messages through social media and content management for community radio stations will also be discussed.
The 'Sammelan' will witness participation of all operational community radio stations across the country. The theme of this year's Sammelan is 'Community Radio for SDGs'.

September- Month Of Nutrition
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to celebrate September as a month of nutrition. In his Mann Ki Baat programme, Mr. Modi laid emphasis on creating awareness to fight malnutrition among children, particularly the girl child.
Gujarat Government launched a pilot project, Poshan Abhiyan which is a statewide mission to eradicate malnutrition among children. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had also launched 'Purna' project to eliminate malnutrition among the girls in the age group of 14 to 18.
Gujarat Government had allocated Rs. 270 crore for this pilot project. PURNA project is also known as Prevention of under Nutrition and Reduction of Nutritional Anaemia among Adolescent Girls.
Now, the awareness campaign during the September will further boost the Poshan Abhiyan in the states.
Women's Equality Day
Women's Equality Day is observed every year on August 26 to celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment in the United States of America that provides voting rights to the women. This amendment was first introduced in 1878. Later, the US Congress designated August 26 as Women's Equality Day.
Now, it has become an international celebration and women across the world celebrate this day as an equality day. In India, various institutions organise debates, competitions, get-together etc to celebrate this day.
This day calls attention to women's continuing efforts toward full equality.
History of Women's Equality Day:
August 26 was designated as "Women's Equality Day in 1971 by the US Congress.
This day was selected to commemorate the 1920's certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. It was for the first time in the USA when women of America were first given the right to vote.

First-Ever World Youth Conference For Kindness Held
President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the first-ever World Youth Conference for Kindness organised by the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) at Vigyan Bhavan.
The theme of the conference was 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: Gandhi for the Contemporary World: Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.' In attendance were Union Ministers, prominent artists, nobel laureates and over 1,000 youth representing 27 countries.
The conference was in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and aimed at providing youth with creative, effective methods of engaging and realising the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It sought inspiration from Gandhi's championing of non-violence.
