India, Russia to Hold 13-day Mega Military Exercise in Volgograd
India and Russia will carry out a 13-day mega military exercise with a focus on counter-terror operations in the Russian city of Volgograd from August 1. The 12th edition of the "INDRA" exercise will be yet another "milestone" in strengthening the bilateral security cooperation and will serve to reinforce the longstanding bond of friendship between India and Russia.
As per reports, 250 personnel from each side will participate in the 12th edition of the joint military exercise.
Volgograd is a major Russian city situated on the western bank of the Volga River.

Indian Navy Participates in Exercise Cutlass Express
In the maritime Exercise Cutlass Express 2021, INS Talwar is participating. This naval exercise is being conducted from 26th July 2021 to 6th August 2021 along the Eastern Coast of Africa.
This maritime exercise is held annually and it is conducted to promote regional and national maritime security in the Western Indian Ocean and East Africa.

The 2021 edition involves the participation of 12 East African countries, India, UK, US and various other international organisations such as United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), International Maritime Organisation (IMO), European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR), Interpol, EUCAP Somalia and Critical Maritime Routes Indian Ocean (CRIMARIO). The Indian Navy is participating in a trainer role.
CRPF Signs MoU with C-DAC to Train Manpower of Force in Advanced Technologies
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has signed an MoU with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing C-DAC to train the manpower of the force in advanced technologies and undertake joint projects. The MoU aims at augmenting the technical capabilities of CRPF by training its manpower in advanced areas like the Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, AI, etc.
The agreement will also provide the expertise of C-DAC in the form of a Technology Partner and Knowledge Partner in developing various ICT solutions of CRPF. The MoU will go a long way in providing CRPF personnel with customised advanced courses aligned to the needs of the field and practical applications.
Ukrainian Navy Gets First Armed Drone from Turkey
According to Ukraine's Defence Ministry, the Ukrainian Navy has accepted delivery of the first Bayraktar TB2 drone from Turkish defense company Baykar.
After completing acceptance tests, the drone, along with mobile control terminals and spare parts, will be deployed at the Ukrainian Navy's 10th Naval Aviation Brigade in Mykolaiv.
Baykar announced in 2019 that it won a $69 million contract to sell six TB2 combat UAVs to Ukraine.

US Army Chooses Competitors to Design Infantry Fighting Vehicle Replacement
The U.S. Army has chosen five teams to compete to design the replacement for its Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
Point Blank Enterprises, Oshkosh Defense, BAE Systems, General Dynamics Land Systems and American Rheinmetall Vehicles will all conjure up rough digital concept designs for the Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle.
The total award value for all five contracts is approximately $299.4 million.
Oshkosh will work with leading South Korean defense company Hanwha as a partner, according to previous coverage, and the Rheinmetall team also includes Raytheon Technologies, Textron and L3Harris Technologies.
Miami-based Point Blank is the only nontraditional company or small business to win a contract. Mettle Ops, a small family-owned, Michigan-based company, had also submitted a bid to design an OMFV concept, and Roush Defense is also believed to have bid.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Flags in ARMEX-21 in Delhi
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh flagged-in the Indian Army Skiing Expedition, ARMEX-21, in New Delhi. The ARMEX-21 was conducted in the mountain ranges of the Himalayan region to promote the adventure activity in the country and the Indian Army. The expedition was flagged off at Karakoram Pass in Ladakh on 10th March and culminated at Malari in Uttarakhand in July.
Rajnath Singh congratulated the team on the successful completion of the challenging expedition and lauded them for their courage and resilience.
Terming the expedition as extraordinary, he said that not only did the team complete a thrilling journey, but also conducted an operational recce of the region. The Defence Minister commended the courage, dedication and spirit of the Armed Forces and expressed satisfaction that the safety and security of the country is in safe hands. He exuded confidence that the success of ARMEX-21 will inspire a new generation of adventurers across the nation.

Navies of India, U.K. Hold Passage Exercise
Navies of India and the U.K. participated in a two-day bilateral Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Navy Carrier Strike Group (CSG-21) led by HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Bay of Bengal from July 21 to 22.
With the presence of CSG-21 in the Indian Ocean, the exercise has afforded excellent opportunity to engage over the entire spectrum of maritime operations, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-air and anti-surface warfare.
The Indian Navy was represented by five ships, a submarine and a P-8I long range patrol aircraft in its maiden exercise with the Royal Navy's latest aircraft carrier.

DRDO Successfully Test-flies 'Man-portable ATGM'
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested an indigenous, third-generation, Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) .
The lightweight, fire-and-forget MPATGM, which is integrated with a thermal sight, was launched from a man-portable launcher by a two-man crew at a target that was mimicking a moving tank.
Unusually, the test was intended to validate whether the MPATGM is effective against tank targets at the lower end of its range spectrum, which is 200-300 metres. The MPATGM has already proven in earlier tests that it can strike targets at its maximum range of 4,000 metres.
