Ukrainian Missile Maker Secures $200 Million Contract for R-27 Production
Kyiv-based missile maker Artem holding company was awarded a $200 million contract from the unnamed customer for R-27 medium-range air-to-air missile production.
Artem director Vladimir Zimin said that the company received an advance payment and began to fulfil the largest contract for the last 10-15 years for the supply of R-27 missiles worth more than $ 200 million.
An unnamed Asian customer, speculated to be India has contracted Artem to supply a batch of medium-range missiles designed to intercept and destroy hostile piloted aircraft, drone targets and cruise missiles in a long-range and close-in dogfight.
The R-27 is a family of air-to-air missiles originally designed by the Russian design bureau Vympel and built by Russian firm Vympel and Ukrainian Artem.

12th Edition of Exercise INDRA NAVY Concludes
The 12th edition of the military exercise INDRA NAVY was held in the Baltic Sea. It is a biennial bilateral maritime exercise that is conducted between the Indian Navy and Russian Navy.
It was initiated in the year 2003.
This exercise further strengthens the long-term strategic relationship between the navies of the two countries.
This exercise was undertaken as INS Tabar's visit to St Petersburg in Russia to participate in the Russian Navy's 325th Navy Day celebrations.
INDRA NAVY has matured over the years with an increase in scope, the complexity of operations and level of participation.
The primary aim of this year's exercise was to further strengthen the inter-operability which has been built up by the Navies of both the countries and also to enhance procedures and understandings of various maritime operations.
This edition of the exercise includes diverse and wide-ranging activities which have been stretched across the broad spectrum of maritime operations.
INS Tabar represented the India Navy whilst the Russian Federation Navy was represented by Corvettes RFS Odintsovo and RFS Zelyony Dol of the Baltic Fleet.
Vice Admiral S. N. Ghormade Takes Charge as Indian Navy Vice Chief
Vice Admiral S. N. Ghormade took charge as the vice chief of the Indian Navy from Vice Admiral G. Ashok Kumar.
Ghormade was holding the charge of deputy chief of the Integrated Defence Staff (Operations and Training) since March.
Before this, he was holding the appointment of Controller Personnel Services in the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy).
Ghormade has also served as the chief of staff of the Eastern Naval Command as well as the director general of naval operations.
A graduate of the National Defence Academy, Ghormade was commissioned into the Indian Navy on January 1, 1984.

Elta and Hensoldt Team up for German Ballistic Missile Defense Radar
Germany's Hensoldt has won a contract to supply new radars to the country's military, with Israel Aerospace Industries also contributing toward the ultimate goal of modernizing Germany's ballistic missile defense capabilities.
The €200 million (U.S. $236 million) contract comes in the wake of a June deal with IAI subsidiary Elta Systems to supply 69 tactical mobile radars to Germany's land forces. Both deals were signed with the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support.
The latest contract is for four long-range radars as part of the Hughes Air Defence Radar Nachfolgesystem program.
Elta and Hensoldt previously cooperated on submarine capabilities, but this is the first time they have worked together on radars.

Britain Inks $200 Million Contract with Team Tempest
The British Defence Ministry has signed a £250 million (U.S. $199 million) deal with Team Tempest, a group of companies working on the country's future combat jet, to provide digital and physical infrastructure to develop the aircraft.
The latest contract is part of the government's investment of more than £2 billion on the project, which will be spread out over the next four years.

F-35B Jets Take Off at Sea for Australian Exercise Talisman Sabre
U.S. Marine Corps F-35B jets are carrying out high-end integrated air warfare training with Australian counterparts in the skies above the country and the Coral Sea, as both nations hold a massive multi domain exercise.
The F-35Bs have not previously participated in the exercise Talisman Sabre, which is held once every two years. This year's exercise saw Canada, Japan and South Korea each send a ship to participate, while Japan and the United Kingdom each sent a small contingent of ground troops, joining forces from Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
IAF Formally Inducts Rafale into 101 Squadron of Eastern Air Command
The Indian Air Force (IAF) formally inducted the Rafale aircraft into its 101 Squadron of the Eastern Air Command in the presence of Air Chief Marshal R. K. S Bhadauria at the Hasimara Air Force Station in West Bengal.
The 101 Squadron is the second IAF squadron to be equipped with the Rafale fighter jets. In September last year, the Rafale aircraft were inducted into the 17 "Golden Arrows" Squadron.
The induction event included a fly-past heralding the arrival of the Rafale aircraft at Hasimara, followed by a traditional water-cannon salute,
India has so far received 26 of the 36 Rafale aircraft from French firm Dassault Aviation.
