IIT Gandhinagar to Celebrate Brain Awareness Week 2021
The Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is celebrating the virtual edition of the Brain Awareness Week from March 15 to 21, 2021. The event includes a variety of talks, panel discussions, workshops, and competitions targeted at a diverse audience ranging from core neuroscience researchers to high school students.
Scholars and practitioners of cognitive and brain sciences from some of the most prestigious institutions from India and abroad will be a part of IIT Gandhinagar's Brain Awareness Week 2021 this year.
Brain Awareness Week is an annual event celebrated across the world to inform and educate people about the many wonders of the brain in order to generate excitement amongst youngsters to pursue research in Brain Sciences.
World Consumer Rights Day
World Consumer Rights Day is observed every year on March 15. The day is marked for raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs so as to enable the consumer to fight against social injustices.
World Consumer Rights Day was inspired by President John F. Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. He was the first world leader to do so. The consumer movement first marked that date in 1983 and now uses the day every year to mobilise action on important issues and campaigns.
Each year, World Consumer Rights Day adopts a theme to highlight. This year the theme promoted is "Tackle Plastic Pollution."

First Meeting of BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues
The BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI) held their first meeting under the Chair ship of India. The meeting was held from March 9 to March 11, 2021. The meeting was held under the Theme –"BRICS @15: Intra BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation, and Consensus".
India under its Chair ship for 2021, presented a calendar of events for BRICS CGETI 2021. Those events comprise of priority areas for deliverables, schedule and scope of MSME roundtable conference workshop on Services Statistics and BRICS Trade Fair. It was followed by several presentations made by the concerned department on proposed deliverables during the India's Chair ship under BRICS CGETI track.
PM Modi Inaugurates Global Ayurveda Festival
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the fourth edition of the Global Ayurveda Festival through video conference.
This festival will be held virtually between March 12 and March 19.
Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister V Muraleedharan, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) President Uday Shankar and former FICCI President Dr Sangita Reddy were also be present at the event.
Muraleedharan is the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the festival.
The festival will also include international seminars, a global exhibition and business meet. The festival will hold an all-time record in the number of delegates, the number of scientists presenting papers and the number of participating countries and institutions.

APEDA Launches its First Virtual Trade Fair
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) launched the first virtual trade fair. It concluded on March 12, 2021.
This trade fair was organised in order to boost the export of agricultural and processed food products. APEDA has initiated this concept of the virtual trade fair because of the COVID-19 related restrictions. It was organised to sustain the agricultural and processed food products exports of India.
The fair is being organised under the theme "India Rice and Agro Commodity". This fair will focus on showcasing exports potential of several agricultural commodities.
The virtual trade fair saw the participation by the importers and exporters. These potential buyers or importers and visitors will get a chance to explore a huge range of food products. These products will be presented by exporters through the virtual fair.

World Kidney Day
World Kidney Day is a global health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of the kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.
World Kidney Day is observed annually on the 2nd Thursday in March. At the start of this holiday, 66 countries observed this date in 2006.
Within two years, this number rose to 88. WKD is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF).
This holiday was intended to raise awareness about conditions of the kidney; although many are treatable, they are a secondary medical concern of the greater population.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Raising Day
The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) Raising Day is celebrated on March 10 annually. It was set up under the act of the Parliament of India in 1969. CISF was created for the better protection and security of industrial undertakings in the country. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was established with 3 battalions. Each battalion provided integrated security to the public sector undertakings (PSUs). It is no longer a PSU-centric force.
CISF started with a strength of over 3000 crew members and today the number of personnel has reached over 1,30,000. With time CISF has evolved to become the multi-skill security agency of the country mandated to provide security to the major installations across the country.
