IAF to Procure 56 New C-295 Transport Aircraft from Spain
In a major decision, the Cabinet Committee on Security approved the procurement of 56 C-295 medium transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force to replace its ageing Avro planes which were first inducted around 60 years ago.
Sixteen aircraft will be delivered in a flyaway condition by the Airbus Defence and Space of Spain within 48 months of signing the contract while the remaining 40 planes will be manufactured in India.
The 40 planes will be manufactured in India by a consortium of the Airbus Defence and Space and Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) within 10 years of signing the contract.
India to Produce Brahmos-NG Cruise Missile
As per reports, a new generation of the BrahMos cruise missile (BrahMos-NG) will be produced at a plant near Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh, India).
BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile produced by BrahMos Aerospace Russian-Indian joint venture. It was designed by the Russian NPO Mashinostroeniya (a subsidiary of the Tactical Missiles Corporation, KTRV) and DRDO. The first test launch took place in 2001. The Indian Air Force, Navy and Ground Forces are armed with BrahMos.
BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) is a mini version based on the existing BrahMos, will have same 290 km range and Mach 3.5 speed but it will weigh around 1.5 tonnes, 5 metres in length and 50 cm in diameter, making BrahMos-NG 50 per cent lighter and three metres shorter than its predecessor.

Israel Receives Fourth and Final Sa'ar 6 Warship from Germany
Israel has received its fourth and final Sa'ar 6 warship as the country implements a new naval doctrine aimed at bolstering defensive capabilities in its exclusive economic zone.
Israel has been receiving the ships since November 2020. The arrival of the Nitzahon corvette in 2021 in the Port of Haifa follows its two-week journey from Germany, where it was built. It also came a day before Israel announced a naval exercise dubbed Noble Waters with the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
The Israel Defense Forces characterised the Sa'ar 6 corvettes as central to its naval defensive wall as well as a key pillar in the maritime protection of both Israeli waters and energy assets at sea.

India and Kazakhstan Carry Out 5th Edition of Joint Military Drills KAZIND-21
India and Kazakhstan carried out the 5th edition of the annual bilateral joint exercise KAZIND-21 strengthening military diplomacy between the two countries.
Troops of India and Kazakhstan carried out the demonstration of a raid on a terrorist hideout during the joint military exercise KAZIND-21 at Training Node Aisha Bibi, Kazakhstan.
The Indian Army contingent was represented by a battalion of The Bihar Regiment consisting of a total of 90 personnel led by a Contingent Commander. The Kazakhstan Army was represented by a company group.

India and Australia Begin 5-day Naval Exercise
India and Australia began a five-day mega naval war game with an aim to strengthen joint capabilities in support of a stable and secure Indo-Pacific region.
The AUSINDEX exercise includes complex surface, sub-surface and air operations between ships, submarines, helicopters and long-range maritime patrol aircraft of the two navies.
The war game is taking place in the North Australian exercise area.
The exercise provides the two navies with an opportunity to strengthen joint defence capabilities in support of a stable and secure Indo-Pacific region.

India Navy Conducts Maritime Bilateral Exercise with Singapore
The 28th edition of the three-day Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX) in the South China Sea concluded. SIMBEX is the Indian Navy's longest uninterrupted bilateral maritime exercise with any foreign navy.
Guided missile destroyer INS Ranvijay with a ship-borne helicopter, ASW Corvette INS Kiltan, guided missile corvette INS Kora and one P8I long range maritime patrol aircraft represented the Indian Navy in the bilateral exercise. For the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), one Formidable Class Frigate, RSS Steadfast embarked with an S-70B naval helicopter, one Victory Class Missile Corvette, RSS Vigour, one Archer Class Submarine, one Fokker-50 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and four F-16 fighter aircraft of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) also participated in the exercise.
