India, Oman Ink Pact to Boost Maritime Security Cooperation
India and Oman inked an agreement for exchange of white shipping information and to boost maritime security cooperation in reflection of growing cooperation between the two sides. The pact was signed by Chief of Navy Staff Admiral Karambir Singh and his Omani counterpart Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi in Muscat.
The Indian Navy cooperates with the Royal Navy of Oman on many fronts that include operational interactions and training.
Both navies have been participating in the biennial maritime exercise Naseem Al Bahr since 1993. This exercise was last conducted in 2020 off Goa and the next edition is scheduled in 2022.

Pakistan, China Launch Joint Anti-terror Exercise
Troops from China and Pakistan launched a joint anti-terror exercise as part of SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS).
The opening ceremony of the Joint Anti-Terrorist Exercise (JATE)-2021 was held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Pabbi in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
JATE was conducted with a view to practice and master various drills and procedures involved in Counter Terrorism operations including Cordon & Search, Compound Clearance, Close Quarter Battle and medical evacuation.
The exercise is aimed at enhancing synergy and interoperability among Special Services and Law Enforcement Agencies of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries for combating international terrorism, practice mechanisms to respond to a crisis situation and capacity building of the forces.
Lt. Gen. Khanduri is Next Western Command Chief
Lieutenant General Nav K Khanduri was appointed as the next General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Chandimandir-based Western Command.
He is the first officer from the Army Air Defence to be elevated to the rank of Army Commander. Lt Gen Khanduri will take over from Lt. Gen. RP Singh who superannuates on October 31.
Earlier, Lt. Gen. Khanduri has served as the General Officer Commanding, 33 Corps in the north-east and as Director-General of Operational Logistics and Strategic Management, at Army Headquarters. Commissioned in December 1983, he is an alumnus of the Rashtriya Indian Military College and the National Defence Academy.

Defence Ministry Places Order for 118 Arjun Mk-1A Tanks
The Defence Ministry sealed a contract to procure 118 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) Arjun for the Indian Army at a cost of Rs. 7,523 crore. The Defence Ministry placed the order for the Arjuna Mk-1A tanks with the Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), Avadi, Chennai.
The MBT Mk-1A is a new variant of Arjun Tank designed to enhance fire power, mobility and survivability, infused with 72 new features and more indigenous content from the Mk-1 variant.

Pakistan Army Chief Inaugurates CIADBAM
Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa inaugurated the state-of-the-art Centre of Integrated Air Defence Battle Management called as CIADBAM.
Pakistan Army Air Defence is equipped with sophisticated, highly accurate and lethal long range weapon systems and the CIADBAM will provide an integrated environment for synchronised and effective articulation of Air Defence battle from top tier of command down to individual weapon systems.
Simulator complex in the facility is capable of projecting various dynamic scenarios which can be configured and developed as per the latest intricacies and challenges of Air Defence Battle.
Tata-Airbus Set to Sign Rs. 22,000-cr Deal to Make Military Planes
The biggest military order placed on the private sector - a deal to manufacture new transport aircraft for the air force - is set to be signed, with the location for the manufacturing plant now being finalised. The Rs. 22,000-crore deal is part of a series of initiatives to promote the private sector in defence manufacturing
The deal with Tata - Airbus is likely to be signed, two weeks after it was given a go ahead by the Cabinet Committee on Security. The signing is likely to include top officials from Tata and Airbus besides the Ministry of Defence.

Surya Kiran Air Show at Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake
The Chandigarh Air Force Station organised in association with the administration of the Union territory an air show at the Sukhna Lake. The event held on the occasion of the Swarnim Vijay Diwas (50th year of victory) of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, saw the participation of the Surya Kiran and other aircraft to observe the country's historic victory on the battlefield. In the coming days, celebrations and air shows will be held across other parts of the country as well.
The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team – formally known as the 'Formation Aerobatics Units' of the IAF – is equipped with state-of-the-art Hawk aircraft built by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
