World Food Programme Delivers Food Aid to over 1 million People in Ukraine
The World Food Programme (WFP) delivered food aid to 1 million people in Ukraine and requested an additional USD 590 million in funding to expand the assistance. The WFP said that it managed to build a network of urgent assistance tools in Ukraine within just one month. Food is now being delivered to such conflict zones as Sumy and Kharkiv by two convoys of humanitarian vehicles, while displaced Ukrainians in the western city of Lviv are receiving cash assistance. "Now that the structures are in place, we need the funding to keep delivering assistance, and to help 3 million people in need," the agency said, adding that "WFP requires $590 million to assist 3.1 million crisis-affected people and IDPs on the move inside Ukraine with in-kind and cash distributions, as well as refugees and asylum seekers from Ukraine in neighbouring countries for the next three months."
Banaras Hindu University Launches 'Teach for BHU' Scheme to Motivate PhD Students to Teach
Banaras Hindu University launched a special scheme called "Teach for BHU" for its PhD students to help them nurture their skills. The scheme aims to train BHU PhD scholars about the best practices of teaching and prepare them for an outstanding academic career.
The idea behind the launch of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to interested and shortlisted PhD scholars, who wish to make best use of their time after submission of their thesis. The Teach for BHU Fellowship will be for twelve months.
A three member committee under the convenership of Prof. S. K. Singh, Faculty of Education, has been constituted to implement the scheme. Prof. A. K. Singh, Department of Geography, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, BHU, and Prof. Satyapal Sharma, Department of Hindi, Faculty of Arts, are the other two members of the committee.

Shaktikanta Das lays Foundation Stone of Learning and Development Centre of BRBNMPL in Mysuru
Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shaktikanta Das laid the foundation stone for the establishment of a Learning and Development Centre (LDC).
LDC is being established with active collaboration from Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) and Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited (BNPMIPL).
LDC would act as a forum for robust knowledge dissemination, thus ensuring that the best practices, experiences, and innovations are shared efficiently in a congenial environment to ensure uniformity in banknote production, quality and supply.

India, Maldives Sign Peering Agreement for Cooperation in Field of Education
The External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shahid acknowledged strides made in fields of capacity building and training as the two countries inked an agreement paving the way for connectivity between India's National Knowledge Network and the Maldives' Higher Education Network.
National Knowledge Network is a multi-gigabit national research and education network, whose purpose is to provide a unified high speed network backbone for educational and research institutions in India. The network is managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Common University Entrance Test officially Accepted by Jamia Millia Islamia
CUET in Jamia Millia Islamia: Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) will adopt the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admitting students to undergraduate programmes for the 2022-23 academic session. It was decided in a meeting attended by the top officials of the university that admissions for selected undergraduate courses will be done through CUET. The university has communicated to the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Testing Agency (NTA) about the same.

Not Cut-offs, Clearing Class 12, CUET Now Enough to Secure Admissions to DU
From the academic year 2022-23, students will only need to clear Class 12 and CUET to be eligible for admissions to Delhi University (DU).
The proposal to consider passing marks in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admissions, and not the cut-offs as earlier, was passed by the varsity's executive council during its meeting.
The university also accepted the proposal to set up Delhi School of Analytics (DSA) under Institutes of Eminence.
The DSA will offer short and long-term certificate courses, diploma and degree programmes that will enhance the business analytical skills of students.
IBM India to Impart Digital Skill to 12,000 Girl Students in Nagaland
IBM India announced a collaboration with the Nagaland School Education department to introduce digital powered training in more than 250 secondary and higher secondary schools across 15 districts in the northeastern state.
The programme IBM Stem (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for girls programme aims to provide 21st-century skills to more than 12,000 girls.
The curriculum will align and supplement the state's efforts towards quality education. This programme will help enable more than 12,000 girls studying between 8th to 10th grade with access to digital fluency, coding skills training, 21st century skills, including life and career skills.
The IBM Stem for girls programme, currently running in 12 states that include Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Nagaland.

IIM-Sambalpur to Develop Entrepreneurship Skills among Tribals
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur, signed an agreement with a research institute to develop entrepreneurship skills among tribal youths and provide them with quality education.
The memorandum of understanding with the Center for Adivasi Research and Development was signed recently for multi-modal initiatives and projects on teaching, skilling, training and global outreach.
