Tata Memorial Centre Inks MoU to Improve Cancer Care in Indonesia

  • The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) signed a Partnership Agreement of Cancer Patient Navigation Programme to improve cancer care in Indonesia, marking the World Health Day.
  • The MoU was inked with Dharmais National Cancer Hospital and PT Roche Indonesia, in a virtual ceremony.
  • Patient Navigation' refers to individualised assistance offered to patients, families and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers.

'One Health' Pilot Project Launched by Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying

  • The Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India launched a pilot project in the state of Uttarakhand to implement the One Health Framework by One Health Support Unit. The key objective of the Unit is to develop a national One Health roadmap based on the learnings of the pilot project implementation. The 'One Health India' program initiated by the Department will work with stakeholders from various sectors to improve livestock health, human health, wildlife health, and environmental health through technology and finance
  • The pilot in Uttarakhand will support the creation of the One Health Framework for India and help build strong social infrastructure that supports the health of the people and the planet.
  • Based on the recommendations of Project Steering Committee (PSC), State and district level one health committees need to be constituted by involving competent authorities from health, animal husbandry and environment ministries.

Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Government to Start Basic Online Course in MSME

  • To inculcate and encourage business development skills in youth, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh will soon start an online course in entrepreneurship. The course will be conducted at college level and will fetch a certificate for the participants on completion. The certification will be given by the MSME and export promotion departments.
  • The course will have general certifications besides advance courses in specific areas like food processing, agricultural production, organic farming and mechanical work in subsequent stages.
  • The department has also envisaged the idea of introducing entrepreneurial skills at the senior secondary level so that the foundation of their self-reliance is laid in the formative years.

QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022: IIT Bombay & IIT Delhi among Top 100

  • QS Quacquarelli Symonds released the 12th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject
  • Indian Institute of Technology(IIT)-Bombay ranked 65th and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Delhi ranked 72nd, are the only Indian institutes to be featured among the top 100 ranks under the Engineering and Technology category. IIT Bombay has scored 79.9 and IIT Delhi has scored 78.9.
  • National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Sector 67, Mohali, has been ranked as the top university in India and seventh in Asia in the pharmacy and pharmacology category as part of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2022.

Madras HC Upholds 7.5% Reservation for Govt. Students, Stalin Hails the Move

  • The Madras High Court upheld Tamil Nadu government's law reserving 7.5 per cent seats for students of government schools in medical college admissions. The court said the law is valid and the government has the power to provide reservation.
  • The court also said that the reservation should be reviewed after five years.
  • Terming the judgement as historic, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the law was brought based on proper statistics and discussions.
  • Stalin also said that the DMK government had passed a law to provide 7.5 per cent reservation in engineering/agriculture/fisheries/veterinary courses in government colleges, universities and leading self financed colleges.

DU Releases 2022-23 Admission Policy, CUET Mandatory

  • The admissions to the university will be held through the common test that has been made mandatory for getting into 45 central varsities in the country. Till last year, admission to the Delhi University was on the basis of cut-offs marks in Class 12 board exams.
  • Calling the new admission policy a landmark policy, Singh said that except for the School of Open Learning and the National Collegiate Women's Education Board, admission to all undergraduate programmes will only be through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
  • The candidates will be able to appear for the CUET only in those subjects which they have studied in class 12. The merit will also be calculated on the basis of combination of only those subjects in which the candidate has appeared in the CUET.
