Former Planning Commission Member Dr. Vaidyanathan Passes Away
Dr. A. Vaidyanathan, a former member of the Government of India's Planning Commission, passed away in Coimbatore.
During his lifetime, Dr. Vaidyanathan also served as professor at the Madras Institute of Development Studies and Centre for Development Studies in Trivandrum.
Dr. Vaidyanathan chaired the Government of India Task Force on Revival of Cooperative Credit Institutions in 2004 and was a member of the K.N. Raj Committee on Taxation of Agricultural Income (1969-70).
From 1962 to 1972, Dr Vaidyanathan served as a member of the perspective planning division of the Planning Commission and worked closely with Pitambar Pant, during which period he had a stint at the Food and Agricultural Organisation in Rome.
After a term at the World Bank (1972-76), he returned home to join Professor K.N. Raj as a member of the faculty of Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr Vaidyanathan was closely associated with state level planning in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Movie production and distribution studio Eros International Plc appointed Shikha Kapur as Chief Operating Officer (COO), studios, for its subsidiary Eros International Media Ltd. Kapur comes from Fox Star Studios where she was the Chief Marketing Officer.
At Eros, Kapur will be responsible for the studio business, including feature films, web originals along with managing marketing and revenues for the film slate besides leading talent and partner relationships.

Wani Appointed Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court
The central government appointed former additional advocate general Javed Iqbal Wani as a judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
Advocate Wani is the estranged son-in-law of senior advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, the president of J&K High Court Bar Association who is in preventive detention under the Public Safety Act.
Wani's appointment was recommended in January 2020 by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India S. A. Bobde. With his appointment, the strength of Jammu and Kashmir High Court increased to 13 against the total strength of 17.
Former Union Water Resources Minister Arjun Charan Sethi Passes Away
Former Union Water Resources Minister (2000 to 2004) Arjun Charan Sethi passed away at the age of 79. He is an 8-time member of parliament (MP) from Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituency.
Arjun Charan Sethi was elected to the 5th Lok Sabha from Bhadrak constituency in Odisha as an Indian National Congress (INC) candidate and was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1980 from the same constituency as an INC candidate.
He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991 as a Janata Dal candidate from the same constituency and re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2009 from the same constituency as a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate.
He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the 2019 Lok Sabha along with his son Abhimanyu Sethi, but did not contest elections.

V. D. Dutt Delhi's New Principal Health Secretary
Senior IAS officer Vikram Dev Dutt was appointed as the principal secretary, Health and Family Welfare department of the Delhi government.
Vikas Anand, a 2002-batch IAS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, will continue to be posted as Officer on Special Duty at the Health and Family department in addition to his own duties, till further orders, it said.
Anand, secretary-cum-commissioner (industries) is holding additional charges of managing director of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastrucuture Development Corporation, chief executive officer of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
UNADAP Appoints Nethra as 'Goodwill Ambassador to the Poor'
The United Nations Association for Development And Peace (UNADAP) appointed Madurai girl Nethra as its 'Goodwill Ambassador to the Poor' as she persuaded her father C. Mohan, a salon owner who spent his savings Rs. 5 lakh for his daughter's education. She also helped with essentials to nearly 1,500 families despite his salon being closed for 2 months as part of COVID-19 lockdown with no other income during the period.

Ved Marwah Passes Away
Former Delhi Police Commissioner Ved Marwah passed away. He was 87.
Marwah was the Police Commissioner of Delhi from 1985-88 and served as the third Director General of the elite National Security Guard from 1988-90. He was a former governor of Manipur, Jharkhand and Mizoram.

Presently, he is posted as the joint secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and shall take up the assignment shortly. Prior to joining the Ministry in 2018, he was the Ambassador to Venezuela from 2016-2018.

Adidas Appoints Manushi Chhillar as Brand Ambassador
Miss World 2017 winner Manushi Chhillar has joined the league of star cricketer Rohit Sharma, sprint sensation Hima Das and Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh as brand ambassador of the Indian arm of German sports brand Adidas.
The footwear giant said that Chillar will lead Adidas's mission to inspire more women to embrace fitness.
DLF's K. P. Singh Retires
Kushal Pal Singh, the face of India's largest listed real estate firm DLF, stepped down from the chairmanship of the company at the age of 90. He will be replaced by son Rajiv Singh, currently serving as vice chairman. The non-agenarian will, however, continue in a non-executive role as chairman emeritus.
Singh had left an army job in 1961 to join DLF, a company started by his father-in-law in 1946, and took over as chairman in 1995. Under his leadership, DLF expanded beyond Gurugram, building apartments, shopping malls, and hotels. In 2007, he oversaw DLF's much-anticipated initial public offering, which raised Rs. 9,188 crore through the sale of 175 million shares.
