BPCL Inaugurates Floating Solar Power Plant at Kochi Refinery
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) took a significant step toward sustainable energy with the inauguration of its floating solar power plant at the Kochi Refinery, Kerala. The project was formally inaugurated by Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan. This marks a major milestone in BPCL's efforts to integrate renewable energy sources into its operations.
The plant has an installed capacity of 3.2 MW AC.
It has been constructed on the rainwater harvesting pond within the Kochi Refinery premises.

World's Glaciers are Losing Record Ice as Global Temperatures Climb, U.N. Says
Glaciers around the globe are disappearing faster than ever, with the last three-year period seeing the largest glacial mass loss on record, according to a UNESCO report released in March 2025.
The 9,000 gigatons of ice lost from glaciers since 1975 are roughly equivalent to an ice block the size of Germany with the thickness of 25 meters, said Michael Zemp, director of the Switzerland-based World Glacier Monitoring Service.
The report coincided with a UNESCO summit in Paris marking the first World Day for Glaciers (March 21), urging global action to protect glaciers around the world.

The 30th Session of the International Seabed Authority
The 30th Session of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) is being held from March 17 to 28, 2025, in Jamaica. It was created when the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) became effective in 1982.

India's First PPP Green Waste Processing Plant in Indore
Indore is set to achieve another milestone in sustainable waste management by establishing India's first green waste processing plant under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This project, initiated under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, aims to convert green waste into valuable resources, promoting environmental sustainability and reducing pollution.

New Delhi is Most Polluted Capital, Byrnihat in Meghalaya Tops List of Cities
New Delhi continues to be the world's most polluted capital while Meghalaya's Byrnihat is the world's most polluted metropolitan area, according to the 2024 World Air Quality Report released in March 2025.
With an average annual PM 2.5 concentration of 91.8 µg/m3, New Delhi remained the most polluted capital city followed by Chad's N'Djamena (91.6) and Dhaka (78).
According to the latest report, prepared by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir, 13 of the world's 20 most polluted cities are in India, with Byrnihat topping the chart with an annual average PM 2.5 concentration of 128.2 µg/m3.
