Twelve Government Schools Renamed after Famous Personalities
In order to give due honour to freedom fighters, martyred soldiers and eminent writers and make next generations aware about these personalities, AAP government in Punjab renamed 12 government schools after famous personalities.
The name of Government Primary Smart School Dhaula was changed to Ram Saroop Ankhi Government Primary Smart School Dhaula in district Barnala.
Similarly, the name of the Government Primary Harijan Basti Kot Fatta, district Bathinda was renamed to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Government Primary School. Government Primary School, Udham Singh Nagar Bathinda was renamed as Shaheed Udham Singh Government Primary School, Government Middle School Pohlomajra, district Fatehgarh Sahib was renamed as Shaheed Malkeet Singh Government Middle School.

Uttarakhand CM Launches No-internet Smart TVs for Smart Classrooms in Govt. Schools
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, launched Sampark FLN TV and Sampark Science TV in an effort to transform government school classrooms into smart classrooms. With the help of the Sampark FLN TV, any television can be transformed into an interactive learning platform with preloaded courses that include tests, worksheets, and animated content.
It operates offline without the internet. Along with free entertainment, Sampark Foundation will offer these plug-and-play devices for no cost.
Sampark Smartshala is an initiative to promote education in the state through modern technology. It would reach out to nearly 11,000 schools in the state.

All Central Universities Should Adopt CUET-PG: UGC Chief M. Jagadesh Kumar
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chief M. Jagadesh Kumar urged all central universities to adopt the Common University Entrance Test Postgraduate (CUET-PG) from the next academic session.
Unlike CUET-UG, the PG edition of the crucial entrance exam is not mandatory for central universities.
CUET provides a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from North-East, rural, and other remote areas and helps to establish better connections with the Universities. A single examination enables the candidates to cover a broad outreach and be part of the admission process to various Central and participating universities.
The CUET-PG will be conducted from June 1 to 10 for academic year 2023-24.
'SMART' Programme Launched to Boost R&D in Ayurveda
The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), the two prominent institutions under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India for regulating medical education and conducting scientific research respectively, launched 'SMART' (Scope for Mainstreaming Ayurveda Research in Teaching Professionals). The program aimed to boost scientific research in priority healthcare research areas through Ayurveda colleges and hospitals.
The proposed initiative is conceptualised with an objective to identify, support and promote innovative research ideas in healthcare research areas including Osteoarthritis, Iron Deficiency Anaemia, Chronic Bronchitis, Dyslipidemia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus, Psoriasis, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Announces Fund for Higher Education of Orphan Children
In a New Year gift to about 6,000 orphan children in Himachal Pradesh, the state government announced establishing a Rs. 101-crore fund -- Mukhya Mantri Sukhashraya Sahayata Kosh -- for their higher education and day-to-day needs. Making the announcement, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that all the 40 Congress MLAs have decided to give Rs. 1 lakh each from their first salary towards this fund and more funds would be collected from industries under the corporate social responsibility.

Centre Signs Pact with IVBP for Commercial Production of 'Lumpi-ProVac'
The government signed a pact with Pune-based Institute of Veterinary Biological Products (IVBP) for commercial production of indigenously developed vaccine 'Lumpi-ProVac' for the control of lumpy skin disease in cattle.
The vaccine has been developed by Haryana-based National Centre for Veterinary Type Culture and ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh-based ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute.
Agrinnovate India Ltd., the commercial arm of Department of Agriculture Research and Education under the aegis of Union Agriculture Ministry, has granted 'non-exclusive rights' for commercial production of 'Lumpi-ProVac' to IVPB for ten years.
India discovered Lumpy Skin Disease in 2019, with reporting the first case in Odisha. This was followed by its spread throughout the country's various states. It led to death of a large number of cattle, especially from the north-west part of the country.

Canada, Japan Home to World's most Educated Population in 2022
Canada, Japan, and Luxembourg are the world's top three most educated countries in the world, as per Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) tertiary education report 2022.
Data revealed by the OECD showed that between 2000 and 2021, the share of 25–34-year-olds with tertiary education increased by 20 percentage points, from 27 per cent to 48 per cent.
The 10 most educated populations in the world are: Canada 59.96 per cent, Japan 52.68 per cent, Luxembourg 51.31 per cent, South Korea (50.71 per cent), Israel (50.12 per cent), United States (50.06 per cent), Ireland (49.94 per cent), United Kingdom (49.39 per cent), Australia (49.34 per cent) and Finland (47.87 per cent).
