TVS Motor Company Appoints Timothy Prentice as Vice President
TVS Motor Company appointed Timothy Prentice, a globally renowned motorcycle designer, as its vice-president for design. Prentice brings with him an experience of 35 years in motorcycle designing, project management and product development. His appointment was expected, TVS said, to boost its ability to stay ahead of rapid changes in design trends and maintain its competitive edge in future technology.
Prentice specialised in advanced design planning, and his experience in designing high-performance electric vehicles (EV) would take the company's EV line-up design to the next level.
Through his design studio 'Motonium Design Inc', Prentice has worked on design, project management and creative direction for many clients.

Congress Loyalist Satish Sharma Passes Away
Former Lok Sabha MP from Amethi and Rae Bareli and a long time Gandhi family loyalist Captain Satish Sharma passed away in Goa. He was 73.
Sharma, who owed his rise in politics to proximity with late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, was thrice elected to Lok Sabha. He also served three terms in Rajya Sabha.
Sharma was dropped from Rajya Sabha in 2016 after his term ended.
He represented Amethi after Rajiv Gandhi's death in 1991.
After 1998, Satish Sharma was shifted to Rae Bareli where he remained MP till 2004 before vacating the seat for Sonia Gandhi.

Rush Limbaugh, the Controversial US Radio Personality, Died
Rush Limbaugh, the controversial US radio personality and political commentator, has died aged 70.
His wife Kathryn Adams announced his death on his radio show. He had been suffering from lung cancer.
Best known as the host of the long-running talk radio programme The Rush Limbaugh Show, he was a towering figure in the conservative movement for years.
Three presidents appeared on his show, and he received the US Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020.
But he was as controversial as he was influential, accused of voicing racist, sexist and homophobic views throughout his career.

Assam Government Appoints Hima Das as DSP
Star sprinter Hima Das has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Assam government. The 21-year-old from Assam, known as 'Dhing Express' referring to the town near her native village, is currently training at the NIS-Patiala and will be aiming to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics as the athletics calendar starts in a few days.
The reigning world junior 400 m champion, who won a silver in women's 400 m in the 2018 Asian Games, was also part of the gold-winning women's 400 m relay and mixed 400 m relay quartets in the quadrennial event in Jakarta.

Justice Puligoru Venkata Sanjay Kumar Sworn-in as Chief Justice of Manipur HC
President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Justice Puligoru Venkata Sanjay Kumar as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
Manipur Governor Dr. Najma A. Heptulla administered the oath of office to the new Chief Justice.
Kumar, was enrolled as an advocate on August 25, 1988, and practised in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in civil, constitutional and Service matters.
He was appointed as an additional judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on August 8, 2008 and as a permanent judge on January 20, 2010. He was transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court on October 14, 2019.

Eminent jurist and former Governor of Bihar and Jharkhand, Justice (Retd) M Rama Jois, passed away.
Jois, also a noted writer and historian, was not keeping well due to old age-related ailments and suffered a cardiac arrest.
He also served as Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Not only that, but he made a lasting contribution to Indian judiciary. He made great effort in restoring democracy during the 1975 emergency.
