Telangana State Election Commission Successfully Tests Facial Recognition Technique
The Telangana State Election Commission successfully tested the facial recognition application for voter verification at polling stations using real time authentication capabilities.
The application using latest technologies like artificial intelligence, big data and machine learning was uploaded in mobile phones and tested in 10 polling stations for urban local body elections in Kompally Municipality.
According to SEC officials, testing of the application became necessary in view of the cases of impersonation in the voting process, as could be seen from the request for tendered votes coming up with every passing election.

NHA signs MoU with ITC e-Choupal to help farmers avail Ayushman Bharat scheme
The National Health Authority, the apex body implementing the Centre''s flagship Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, has signed an MoU with ITC e-Choupal to help farmers avail benefits under the programme.
As part of the MoU signed, ITC will conduct awareness camps through 400 Village Health Champions (VHCs) covering over 800 villages across 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on a pilot basis.
These VHCs will make women and adolescents aware of the programme through group meetings and door-to-door campaigns.
ITC e-Choupal is a network of 4 million farmers in over 35,000 villages across 10 states -- Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Through this collaboration, the NHA and ITC e-Choupal will spread awareness about the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya scheme and conduct outreach and training activities.

SC Constitutes 4-Member Committee For Speedy Auction Of Amrapali Properties
The top court also asked National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) to expeditiously start work on seven stalled projects of Amrapali Group.
The Supreme Court constituted a 4-member committee, including two of its forensic auditors, for speedy disposal of assets in auction of the now defunct Amrapali Group to raise funds for several stalled projects.
A bench of Justices Arun Mishra and U U Lalit constituted the committee comprising Rajiv Bhatia and Pawan Aggarwal (forensic auditors); court appointed receiver, senior advocate R Venkatramani who will assist state-owned MSTC to auction the assets of Amrapali Group, and D K Mishra, a chartered accountant.

Smriti Irani Launches Yashaswini Scheme For Women Entrepreneurship In Goa
Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Textiles, Smriti Irani launched Yashaswini Scheme for Women entrepreneurship in Goa. The event was held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium at Taleigao near Panaji.
Swasthya Sakhi Project and breast cancer screening initiative were also inaugurated on the occasion.
The Minister said that development of women is the base for the development of nation. She added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented many welfare schemes for the benefit of women. Ujjawala Yojana scheme has benefited crores of women in the country, she added.
Under Yashaswini scheme, women self-help groups will be given interest free loans of upto Rs Five lakh for business.
Adarsha Satari Mahila Mandal Guleli -Sattari, Umang Self-Help Group, Salcete, Phoenix Womens Wing Self-Help Group Valpoi -Sattari were given loans under newly launched Yashaswini scheme.

Transgender Persons Act Comes Into Effect
The Social Justice Ministry issued a notification on January 10, 2019, notifying the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, which was passed by Parliament on November 26 and given Presidential assent on December 5, 2019.
The Act aims to end discrimination against transgender persons in accessing education, employment and healthcare. It also recognises the right to self-perceived gender identity and provides for certification from a District Magistrate; in case a transgender person has had a gender-change surgery, the law says they can obtain a certificate from the medical facility where they had the operation, and apply for a change in their certificate.
