Restore MPLADS so That MPs can Use it for Covid Management
Bahujan Samaj Party leader and Member of Parliament from Amroha, UP, Kunwar Danish Ali has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately restore the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) so that lawmakers can utilise it to provide immediate medical relief to people in their respective constituencies amid the second wave of Covid-19.
MPLADS, which has been suspended for the past two years by the government which wanted to utilise them for Covid management and healthcare facilities, is a scheme under which each MP can suggest to the district collector works to the tune of Rs. 5 crore per annum in their constituency.
Schemes Related to Children, Pregnant, Lactating Women must Remain Functional
The Delhi Rozi Roti Adhikar Abhiyan (DRRAA) wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanding that all schemes related to children, pregnant and lactating women should remain functional and be considered essential services.
In view of several children being affected by COVID, the DRRAA has also demanded that there should be a special mechanism in place to track children who test positive, test their families and provide care.
In its letter to Mr. Kejriwal, the DRRAA said: "Children who need institutional care should be identified proactively and ensured access. This can be done in coordination with the child welfare committees and Anganwadi centres and monitored by Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights [DCPCR]. Masks should be distributed in the communities and the message needs to be given that even children need to wear mask."
The DRRAA also said growth monitoring, identification and follow-up of severely malnourished children must continue and depending on the local situation, a provision for cooked meals that are delivered at home be made available.

SIDBI Launches SHWAS and AROG Loan Schemes for MSMEs
The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has launched two loan products for MSMEs to help them with the required financial support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. These two new quick credit delivery schemes will facilitate funding for production and services related to the supply of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, oximeters and essential drugs by MSMEs.
The two new loan products are:
SHWAS – SIDBI assistance to Healthcare sector in War Against Second wave of COVID19.
AROG – SIDBI Assistance to MSMEs for Recovery & Organic Growth during COVID19 pandemic.
The schemes are devised under the guidance of the Government of India (GoI) which facilitates funding for production and services related to the supply of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators, oximeters and essential drugs.

Atal Pension Yojana Sees 79 Lakh New Additions in FY21
Atal Pension Yojana (APY) subscribers crossed the 3-crore mark by the end of March 2021 with addition of over 79 lakh new subscribers to the scheme in 2020-21.
According to the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), during the financial year 2020-21, more than 79 lakh new APY subscribers joined Atal Pension Yojana (APY) leading total enrolments to over 3.02 crore as on March 31, 2021.
With regard to 79.14 lakh new additions during 2020-21, SBI sourced as many as 28 per cent, equivalent to 22.07 lakh subscribers, followed by Canara Bank and Indian Bank, sourcing 5.89 lakh and 5.17 lakh subscribers, respectively.
Among others, Bank of Baroda, Airtel Payment Bank, Bank of India, Central Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Aryavart Bank and Baroda UP Bank added between 1 and 5 lakh new APY accounts in 2020-21.

AP Launches Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released the first tranche of Rs. 672 crore under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme for the year 2021-22. This reimbursed the fees for 10.88 lakh students. So far, a total of Rs. 4, 879 crore have been disbursed under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme.
The main objective of the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme is to provide scholarships to all the students who are not able to pay their fees because of their financial burden.
The scheme mainly focuses on students seeking higher education. It aims to provide fee reimbursement to more than 14 lakh students of the state.
The scheme will directly credit the amount into the accounts of students' mothers. Earlier, the money was transferred to the owners of the colleges.

Piyush Goyal Launches Startup India Seed Fund Scheme
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal launched the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS). The Fund aims to provide financial assistance to startups for proof of concept, prototype development, product trials, market entry and commercialization. An amount of Rs. 945 crore corpus will be divided over the next 4 years for providing seed funding to eligible startups through eligible incubators across India. The scheme is expected to support an estimated 3,600 startups through 300 incubators.
Mr. Goyal said that the SISFS will Secure seed funding, Inspire innovation, Support transformative ideas, Facilitate implementation, and Start startup revolution. He said that this Scheme will create a robust startup ecosystem, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns of India, which are often deprived of adequate funding. The Minister said that he would like to especially encourage innovators from rural areas to come forward and benefit from this scheme.
