NITI Aayog Launches the Fourth Edition of 'Innovations for You' Coffee Table Book

  • Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) NITI Aayog launched the fourth edition of 'Innovations for You' coffee table book featuring 75 successful women entrepreneurs of India.
  • The 75 women entrepreneurs are supported by Atal Incubation Centres (AICs) of AIM, NITI Aayog. As the country celebrates the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav – 75th Year of Independence, Innovations for You series captures how start-ups in various sectors are innovating to create a sustainable future for the communities.
  • 'Innovations For You' is a Coffee Table Book series with 3 editions being released previously. The book captures success stories of start-ups supported through Atal Incubation Centres, Atal Community Innovation Centres and Atal New India Challenges, three flagship programs under the Atal Innovation Mission. Each edition showcases the journey of entrepreneurs working in different sectors and is dedicated to creating new, disruptive, innovative products, services, and solutions that can pave the path for a sustainable future.

MoCA to Rename Chandigarh Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport

  • Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) issued the notification renaming the Chandigarh International Airport as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport.
  • On September 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Chandigarh airport will be renamed after Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the freedom fighter.
  • The 115th birth anniversary of the freedom fighter was celebrated on September 28. On the same day, it was announced that the Chandigarh airport has been renamed after Bhagat Singh.

Prof. Kishor Basa Appointed as Chairman of National Monuments Authority (NMA)

  • Prof. Kishor Basa was appointed as the chairman of National Monuments Authority (NMA), informed the Ministry of Culture India.
  • According to reports, Basa is currently serving as Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University in Baripada. Besides, he has also served as Vice Chancellor of Fakir Mohan University in Balasore.
  • Basa held various administrative posts in various prestigious educational institutions and educational committees of Odisha.
  • It is to be noted that, he is the first social scientist of Odisha to assume such a prestigious position in the NMA. Besides, the people of the state have expressed their happiness over the appointment of Odia people in such a prestigious authority of the government of India.

AAP Declares Gadhvi as its CM Candidate for Gujarat

  • AAP made an aggressive entry in Gujarat Assembly elections changing the equations in the state.
  • The AAP's presence has made next month's elections a three-cornered contest in a state where politics had remained essentially bipolar.
  • Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal named former TV news anchor and social activist Isudan Gadhvi as the party's chief ministerial candidate for next month's Assembly elections in Gujarat, where the party is hoping to spring a surprise against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and push the Opposition Congress into third place.
  • Gadhvi, who is a national general secretary of the AAP, got 73% votes in a poll conducted by the party to select the CM candidate.

  • Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali is set to be the Chief Guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, scheduled to be held in Indore in January next year (2023).

PM Modi Launches New Complaint Management System Portal of CVC

  • Technology, service saturation and Aatmnirbharta are three key ways of tackling corruption, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while launching the new Complaint Management System portal of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
  • Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said that Vigilance Awareness Week began with the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. The entire life of Sardar Patel was dedicated to honesty, transparency and the building of a public service system based on these values. He remarked that the campaign revolving around awareness and alertness is based on these principles.
  • With regard to the use of technology, PM Modi mentioned linking PDS to technology, removing crores of fake beneficiaries and saving more than 2 lakh crore of rupees from going into the wrong hands by adopting Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Similarly, the adoption of transparent digital transactions and transparent government procurement through GeM is making a huge difference.

Raaj Anand Takes Oath as Delhi Minister after Rajendra Gautam's Resignation

  • Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raaj Kumar Anand was administered oath as a minister in the Delhi government by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena in a ceremony at Raj Niwas.
  • Anand took the oath in presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar.
  • The Patel Nagar MLA was inducted into his Council of Ministers by Kejriwal after Rajendra Pal Gautam's resignation.
  • Gautam who held charge of social welfare minister resigned last month from the post after he was embroiled in a controversy over his presence in a religious conversion programme.

UP Launches Industrial Investment & Employment Promotion Policy 2022

  • The Uttar Pradesh government launched its Industrial Investment and Employment Promotion Policy 2022 to enable the state's aim of becoming a one trillion-dollar economy.
  • With the UP Global Investors Summit 2023 at sight, the state Cabinet passed the new umbrella policy of the state.
  • The policy aims at creating a progressive, innovative, and competitive industrial ecosystem generating employment in the state while mobilising investments from across the world.

Gujarat Election Dates

  • The Gujarat Assembly elections will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5, and the results will be declared on December 8, the Election Commission announced. Of the 182 seats in the legislative Assembly, 89 will go to polls in the first phase and 93 in the second. There are over 4.9 crore electors eligible to vote this year. There will be more than 51,000 polling stations set up, including more than 34,000 in rural areas.
  • The term of the Gujarat Assembly ends on February 18, 2023. With the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect in the state. The Centre has deployed 160 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces ahead of the polls.
  • The much awaited, high-stakes elections are seeing a three-cornered contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The BJP has been in power in the state — Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home turf — for over two decades. In the last election in 2017, the BJP won 99 seats, while the Congress won 77.

Meghalaya CM Launches "Citizen Engagement and Communication Programme"

  • The "Citizen Engagement and Communication Programme" was launched by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma at Tura, West Garo Hills district, in Meghalaya. The Meghalaya Government initiated various welfare programs and the information should be disseminated for the larger benefit of the public.
  • The "Citizen Engagement and Communication Programme" program aims at grassroots penetration of all schemes so that governance is improved in all aspects. The program will create much-needed awareness amongst the masses so that people will have the right information to avail benefits of the schemes being launched by the Government. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma encouraged the team to sensitize themselves so that they can in turn sensitize the public regarding all the available schemes.

Khattar Launches 'CM Dashboard' for Live Monitoring of Departments

  • Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched the "CM dashboard" and said that the portal will have real-time data of all departments and decisions taken on major schemes.
  • Live monitoring of every department at the block, district and panchayat levels will be done.
  • The portal will also have information about decisions taken by the administrative wing on major schemes. This will enable tracking of methodology and analysis of reports, further helping in comparison of old and new data.
  • Departments will link their day-to-day activities for effective monitoring, the Chief Minister said. "Whether timelines and deadlines of a particular task are being met can be known. Which department had set what target for a particular task, whether that was achieved or if anyone defaulted and for what reason will be known.

Goa Hosts Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) Asia Pacific Conference

  • Goa hosted the three day Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) Conference from 1st to 3rd November 2022. Across the three days, delegates and exhibitors from the Asia Pacific region and beyond discussed and collaborated on the key issues that will help shape the future of Asia's aviation industry and turn the Complete Air Traffic System (CATS) Global Council's vision for the skies of 2045 into a reality. Dr Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, and for Road Transport and Highways, Simon Hocquard, Director General, CANSO and Rajiv Bansal, Secretary of Civil Aviation addressed the conference. "Think Global, Collaborate Regional, Accomplish Local" was the theme of this year's conference.

Union Cabinet Approves Naming Hollongi Airport as Donyi Polo Airport

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved naming of greenfield airport at Hollongi, Itanagar, as 'Donyi Polo Airport.
  • The resolution was passed by the state government of Arunachal Pradesh to name the airport as 'Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar', which reflect the people's reverence of the Sun (Donyi) and the Moon (Polo) to symbolize the traditions and rich cultural heritage of the state.
  • The Centre had granted an 'in-principle' approval for development of Hollongi greenfield airport in January 2019. The project is being developed by Airports Authority of India (AAI) with the help of central government and the Arunachal Pradesh government at a cost of Rs. 646 crore.
  • The Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar is northeast India`s 16th airport.
