IIT-Guwahati Director, T. G. Sitharam Appointed as New Chairman of AICTE
IIT Guwahati Director, T. G. Sitharam has been appointed chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for three years or till he attain the age of 65, whichever is earlier.
He will replace UGC chairman, Jagadesh Kumar, who was holding the interim charge of the AICTE chairman after the retirement of Anil Sahasrabuddhe on September 1, 2021.
Sitharam's tenure as an IIT director will expire in July 2024. AICTE HQ is in New Delhi.
C. V. Ananda Bose Takes Oath as West Bengal Governor
Governor designate of West Bengal C. V. Ananda Bose on Tuesday arrived in Kolkata.
The new West Bengal governor will be administered the oath on Wednesday by the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other dignitaries, including assembly Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay and Leader of Opposition Suvendhu Adhikary, will be present at the programme.
Ayush Ministry Announces Setting Up of Academic Chair at Western Sydney University
The Ministry of Ayush announced to establish the Ayurveda Academic Chair at Western Sydney University's NICM Health Research Institute for a period of three years.
The Ministry has selected All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi's Associate Professor Dr. Rajagopala S. for the post of Academic Chair in Ayurvedic Science at Western Sydney University.
Its aim is to strengthen India's collaborations in promoting academic and collaborative research activities in Australia.
25th National Conference on e-Governance
The 25th National Conference on e-governance will be held in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir from 26th of November.
The theme of the two-day Conference is Bringing Citizens, Industry and Government closer. The Conference will be inaugurated by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Minister of State of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh.
UP CM, Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon
Uttar Pradesh CM, Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated the UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon event at the Gautam Buddha University (GBU) campus in Greater Noida.
Its aim is to conceptualise innovative technology-based solutions for the daunting problems faced by humanity.
The students from 22 counties will engage themselves in coding to find technology-based solutions for issues in education, agriculture, health, energy and drinking water, among others. UNESCO's headquarters is in Paris, France.

Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) Tops in Jal Jeevan Mission Rankings
The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday cited the latest rankings released on the Jal Jeevan Mission website as proof of its commitment to ensuring tap water in all rural homes soon.
Several Uttar Pradesh districts have done well in the rankings, especially Shahjahanpur that has topped across the country in the "aspirant districts as well as best performing district" category in October.
Principal secretary (Namami Gange and rural water supply) Anurag Srivastava said ranking data of districts on the website of the Jal Jeevan Mission was proof of the success of the initiatives being taken to ensure tap water connections to all households.
India Launches Official Website and Theme of SCO 2023
India has launched the official website of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as it will host the next SCO summit as a chairman of organisation in 2023. The website highlights the events that will be undertaken under the chairmanship of India next year.
The theme of the event is "For a SECURE SCO". Prime Minister Narendra Modi had floated the concept of SECURE at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China in 2018.
Explaining the SECURE concept, the Prime Minister said 'S' for security for citizens, 'E' for economic development, 'C' for connectivity in the region, 'U' for unity, 'R' for respect of sovereignty and integrity, and 'E' for environment protection.
'Rozgar Mela': PM Modi Gives Appointment Letters to 71,000 Recruits
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to distribute about 71,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits in November 2022 under the flagship Rozgar Mela scheme as part of the Centre's efforts to abate unemployment in the country.
"The Rozgar Mela is a step towards the fulfilment of the commitment of the Prime Minister to accord the highest priority to employment generation. The Rozgar Mela is expected to act as a catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development directly", said a government release.
Under the Rozgar Mela scheme, 71,000 vacant posts of teachers, lecturers, nursing officers, nurses, doctors, radiographers, pharmacists, and other technical and paramedical posts would be filled. The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) would fill a significant number of posts in various Central Armed Police Forces.
PM Modi will also launch the Karmayogi Prarambh module, an online orientation course for all appointees in various government departments. The instructive module would provide a code of conduct for government servants, including directives on workplace ethics and integrity.

Retired IAS Officer Arun Goel Appointed Election Commissioner
President Droupadi Murmu appointed retired IAS officer Arun Goel as an Election Commissioner, a day after the former Punjab cadre officer took voluntary retirement from the service.
The post of one Election Commissioner in the three-member commission was vacant since May 15, when then-Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar took charge as the Chief Election Commissioner upon the retirement of Sushil Chandra from the post.
A Punjab cadre officer of the 1985 batch, Goel joins Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey in the poll panel.
PM Modi Inaugurates Arunachal's First Greenfield Airport Donyi Polo Airport
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh, the Donyi Polo Airport at Itanagar, and dedicated the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station to the nation. Northeast India now has 16 airports.
The foundation stone for this airport was laid by the PM in 2019. The airport was developed in an area of over 690 acres, at the cost of more than Rs. 640 crore.
The 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station, built at a cost of Rs. 8,450 crore, is the largest such project commissioned in the region with the potential to generate 3353 million units of energy annually. It will provide nearly 398 million units (equivalent to Rs. 200 crore) of free power to Arunachal.
It is also estimated to generate Rs. 8,000 crore revenue for the north-eastern state.
Shahjahanpur District of UP amongst Top Ranked District on the Jal Jeevan Mission
Shahjahanpur became number one in the country in giving maximum number of tap connections in a month. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Shahjahanpur has created history in providing tap connections to every household in rural areas.
According to the data given on the website of Jal Jeevan Mission, Bulandshahr, Bareilly, Mirzapur also got a place in this survey. This achievement has been considered as a big leap in the matter of rural drinking water supply. In this survey, districts are selected across the country on the basis of the progress of the scheme.
The names of Shahjahanpur, Bulandshahr and Bareilly were registered among the best performing districts of UP in October. In the ranking of districts, Shahjahanpur topped the best performing category by scoring 689990 marks. Bulandshahr was second scoring 657180 marks and Bareilly was third in this category scoring 619114 marks.
PM Modi Inaugurates Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the month-long Kashi Tamil Sangamam at the amphitheatre ground of the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi.
The event aims to revive cultural ties between Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
The Sangamam is organized by the Government of India as a part of the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' and to uphold the Spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat'.
The PM during the event also released books on Tirukkural and Kashi-Tamil culture and interacted with Tamil students.
UP Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan and others were present at the grand event.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with IIT Chennai and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the event will witness more than 51 cultural events.

CEC Rajiv Kumar Invited as International Observer for Nepal Polls
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar was invited by the Election Commission of Nepal as an international observer for the elections there.
Elections in Nepal were held on November 20 to elect 275 members of the Federal Parliament and 550 seats of the seven Provincial Assemblies.
Kumar led a delegation of ECI officials as state guest in Nepal from November 18 to 22.

ED Director Sanjay K. Mishra Gets One-year Extension
The Union Government extended by one year the tenure of ED Director Sanjay Kumar Mishra.
As per the order issued by the Personnel Ministry, the 1984-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer has been given the extension till November 18, 2023.
The government in 2021 brought an ordinance allowing that the tenure of the directors of the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) can be extended by up to three years after the mandated term of two years.
Mishra was subsequently given a one-year extension then, his second.

Ashok Gehlot Govt. to Issue NRR Cards for Non-resident Rajasthanis
Non-resident Rajasthanis (NRR) could soon get NRR cards that would serve as a unique identity document for them and provide some special privileges.
The proposal to issue NRR cards is part of the NRR policy, released recently by Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, a separate policy especially for the Rajasthani diaspora.
"Our new NRR Policy proposes to engage NRRs in the economic, social and cultural development of the State and work out plans to forge beneficial relationship with them," State Industries Minister Shakuntala Rawat said.
The policy has been formulated on the 'five-C concept' of Connect, Culture, Community, Care and Contribution.
C. V. Ananda Bose is New Governor of West Bengal
Former bureaucrat C. V. Ananda Bose was appointed the Governor of West Bengal.
Bose (71) is a 1977 batch (retired) Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala cadre. He last served as an administrator in the National Museum before superannuating in 2011.
His appointment will take effect on the date he assumes charge of his office.
Manipur Governor La Ganesan had been holding the additional charge of West Bengal since July this year after incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar was nominated as the vice president candidate by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
