India Introduces Draft Resolution in UNGA for Granting Observer Status for International Solar Al...
Underlining that the International Solar Alliance (ISA) will usher in a new era of "green energy diplomacy", India introduced a draft resolution in the UN General Assembly for granting Observer Status for the global initiative that would help provide for regular cooperation between ISA and the United Nations, benefiting global energy growth and development.
The ISA was jointly launched by India and France in 2015 at the 21st Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) held in Paris.
This initiative was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a speech in November 2015.
The ISA is headquartered in Gurugram, India.
India's First Atal Community Innovation Center Launched in Jaipur
India's 1st Atal Community Innovation Center (ACIC) was inaugurated at Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur (VGU). It will be the first centre in the country to be set up by the Government of India, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog.
ACIC aims to support and nurture innovative ideas that can take the shape of big ideas and help transform society for a better tomorrow. This center, started under the joint aegis of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog and VGU, will benefit the hardworking, passionate and courageous businessmen of Rajasthan who want to take their business towards heights.

Bhutan, China Sign MoU on Boundary Issue, India Wary
India has noted the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bhutan and China on "three-step roadmap for expediting the boundary negotiations" which may also include discussions on Doklam.
During an expert group meeting in Kunming in April 2021, Bhutan and China had agreed on the "three-step roadmap" to help expedite the ongoing boundary negotiations.
China-Bhutan boundary talks traditionally focus on two areas. One is two valleys — Pasamlung and Jakarlung — and the other is Doklam, along the trijunction with India.
Patna, Allahabad, Bombay HCs Get Seven New Judges
The Centre notified the appointment of seven judges to the High Courts of Patna, Allahabad and Bombay.
Advocates Sandeep Kumar, Purnendu Singh, Satyavrat Verma and Rajesh Kumar Verma were appointed to the Patna High Court; judicial officer Om Prakash Tripathi to the Allahabad High Court; and judicial officers Anil Laxman Pansare and Sandipkumar Chandrabhan to the Bombay High Court.
This is the fifth set of appointments notified by the government following the recent recommendations made by the Supreme Court collegium to fill judicial vacancies in various HCs, most of which have been functioning with fewer number of judges compared with their sanctioned strength.

India Gets Re-elected to UN Human Rights Council
India was re-elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2022-24 term and vowed to continue to work for the promotion and protection of Human Rights through "Samman, Samvad and Sahyog."
The UN General Assembly elected by secret ballot Argentina, Benin, Cameroon, Eritrea, Finland, Gambia, Honduras, India, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Montenegro, Paraguay, Qatar, Somalia, UAE and the USA.
MHA Begins Tripartite Talks with Gorkhas and WB
The Union Home Ministry began tripartite talks with the Gorkha representatives from the Darjeeling Hills, Terrai and Dooars region and the Government of West Bengal in order to resolve the longstanding demand of statehood in the North Bengal region.
The talks were chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah with the Gorkha delegation led by Darjeeling MP Raju Bishta. The meeting discussed various issues concerning the Gorkhas and the region.
Haryana Allows Government Employees to Take Part in RSS Activities
After 54 years, Haryana government employees will now be able to take part in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the state government considers the sangh a non-political organisation.
In a very clandestine manner the BJP-led Haryana government lifted the ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Jamaat-e-Islami. As per notification issued yesterday by the general administration department of the state government states that the Haryana Government while implementing Haryana Civil Services (Government Employees Conduct) Rules, 2016 has banned the participation of employees in politics and elections.

MEA Junks China's Objection to Naidu's Visit
India slammed China for questioning the visit of Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu to Arunachal Pradesh last week, saying the state is an integral and inalienable part of India.
Naidu visited Arunachal Pradesh on October 9 and addressed a special session of the state Assembly.
Chinese MFA spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that China's position on the boundary issue with India is consistent and clear-cut. The Chinese government has never recognised the so-called Arunachal Pradesh established unilaterally and illegally by the Indian side and firmly opposes the Indian leader's visit to the area.
Urban Mental Wellbeing Index: Kochi, Chandigarh Best
An independent firm tracking consumer insights and behaviour in its research on mental wellbeing of people in urban centres has shown that people in tier 2 cities are doing much better on the wellbeing index than those in metros.
In its second Mental Wellbeing Whitepaper released to mark the World Mental Health Day, TRA Research followed citizens across urban India and covered 1,003 respondents across 16 cities between July and September 2021.
It measured the nature of worry people had—health worry, economy worry, family worry and financial worry and their ability to cope with these challenges.
The research found Tier 2 cities displayed the highest mental wellbeing scores. Kochi showed the highest MWBI (Mental Wellbeing Index) 2021 score followed by Lucknow and Chandigarh. Indore and Jaipur were next displaying very good mental wellbeing scores.
The worst mental health scores came from Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Chennai.
Eight Newly Appointed Judges of Allahabad HC administered Oath
Eight newly appointed judges of the Allahabad High court were administered the oath office by Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal.
The oath was administered in a simple ceremony at the court of Chief Justice.
The judges who were administered the oath are Chandra Kumar Rai, Krishna Pahal, Sameer Jain, Ashutosh Srivastava, Subhash Vidyarthi, Brij Raj Singh, Shree Prakash Singh and Vikas Budhwar.
With the new judges being appointed, the number of judges in the Allahabad High Court increased to 97 against the sanctioned strength of 160 including the Chief Justice.
President Appoints 14 New Judges to Telangana, Orissa and Kerala High Courts
President Ram Nath Kovind appointed 14 new judges to Telangana, Orissa and Kerala high courts.
The judges were appointed in consultation with the Chief Justice of India.
Those appointed include 12 judicial officers, one advocate and a member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.
While seven judges were appointed to the Telangana High Court, four were appointed to the Kerala High Court. The Orissa High Court got three new judges.

Modi Participates in G20 Extraordinary Leaders' Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the G20 Extraordinary Leaders' Summit on Afghanistan.
The summit was convened by the G20 Italian Presidency.
The agenda of the meeting included a discussion on response to humanitarian needs and access to basic services and livelihood; security and the fight against terrorism; and mobility, migration and human rights.
Seventeen New Judges Appointed in Three HCs
The Centre notified the appointment of 17 new judges in three High Courts — the third set of appointments following the recommendations made by the Supreme Court collegium recommended last month.
Those appointed as judges to the Allahabad, Madras and Gauhati HCs included 15 advocates and two judicial officers.
While eight judges were appointed to the Allahabad High Court, five and four judges were appointed to the High Courts of Gauhati and Madras, respectively.
Advocates Chandra Kumar Rai, Krishan Pahal, Sameer Jain, Ashutosh Srivastava, Subhash Vidyarthi, Brij Raj Singh, Shree Prakash Singh and Vikas Budhwar were appointed to the Allahabad High Court.
