PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh. The Kushinagar Airport is the third International Airport in the state and a direction in the making U.P. the only state in the country to have five international airports.
The Kushinagar International Airport is the third international airport apart from operational airports in Lucknow and Varanasi. While the Lucknow airport handles flights to international destinations like Middle Eastern countries including Oman, Kuwait, UAE among others; Varanasi Airport handles flights to Thailand, Nepal among others.
The inaugural flight at the Kushinagar International Airport operated from Colombo, Sri Lanka carrying 125 dignitaries and Buddhist Monks.

Amarinder Singh to Launch His Own Party
Congress leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said that he would soon announce his own political party and is hopeful of a seat arrangement with the BJP if the farmers' issue is resolved in their interest.
Singh resigned as chief minister of Punjab last month after a bitter feud with Navjot Singh Sidhu and infighting in the state Congress. The party replaced him with Charanjit Singh Channi.

YS Sharmila to Begin Record-breaking 4000-km Foot March
YS Sharmila, the younger sister of Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is set to undertake a padayatra (foot march) to "understand people's problems and find solutions" in context with her allegation that 7,000 farmers had committed suicide in the past seven years in Telangana during the rule of chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR).
Sharmila, the founder of the YSR Telangana Party, had made her allegations in an official press statement released last month and laid out details about the foot march that she said will begin from October 20. In the padayatra to be launched today, Sharmila, aims to cover 4,000 km in 400 days.
Amarinder Singh Says Will Launch his own Party
Ahead of the 2022 Assembly election, former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Amarinder Singh announced the launch of his political party, saying that an alliance with the BJP was possible, if the ongoing farmers' protest against agriculture laws was resolved.
Capt.(retd.) Amarinder, who resigned last month, citing humiliation in the Congress, said his party will work towards forming alliances with like-minded parties including breakaway Akali Dal groups.
India Ranks 40th out of 43 Global Pension Systems
India has ranked 40th out of 43 pension systems across the world in the 2021 Mercer CFS Global Pension Index survey, suggesting the need for strategic reforms in India to revamp the pension system to ensure adequate retirement income. India had stood at 34th position out of 39 pension systems rated in 2020.
According to the survey, India had an overall index value of 43.3 among the countries analysed, lower than the index value of 45.7 for 2020. Globally, Iceland was ranked highest with an overall index value of 84.2 while Thailand had the lowest overall index value at 40.6.

NITI Aayog Launches Geospatial Energy Map of India
NITI Aayog launched a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based Energy Map of India.
"NITI Aayog in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed a comprehensive Geographic Information System (GIS) Energy Map of India with the support of Energy Ministries of Government of India," a statement issued by the Aayog said.
"The GIS map provides a holistic picture of all energy resources of the country which enables visualisation of energy installations such as conventional power plants, oil and gas wells, petroleum refineries, coal fields and coal blocks, district-wise data on renewable energy power plants and renewable energy resource potential through 27 thematic layers," it said.
Delhi, Tamil Nadu lead India's Transition to Electric Cooking With 17% Adoption: CEEW Study
In Delhi and Tamil Nadu, 17 per cent families are using some form of electric cooking or eCooking, as per an independent study released by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW).
"States like Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Assam and Kerala have seen a gradual uptick in the adoption of electric cooking (eCooking) devices such as induction cooktops, rice cookers, and microwave ovens, according to an independent study released today by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW)," CEEW said in a statement.
The study found that in Delhi and Tamil Nadu, 17 per cent of households have adopted some form of electric cooking; while in Telangana, the rate of adoption stood at 15 per cent.
Rojgaar Bazaar 2.0
The Delhi government is all set to create the Rojgar Bazaar 2.0 portal that will be a job matching platform for entry-level jobs for youth of the national capital. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has issued tenders for developing the portal.
Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia claimed that Rojgaar Bazaar 2.0 would be a first-of-its-kind innovative platform launched by any state government to provide all employment-related services seamlessly to its citizens.
It is a digital platform being created by the Delhi government which will list available jobs to help people of the national capital. The site will use artificial intelligence to draw up the best job matches.
PM to Inaugurate Kushinagar Airport, Other Projects in UP
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh to inaugurate the Kushinagar international airport.
According to Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the inauguration will be marked by landing of inaugural flight at the airport from Colombo carrying Sri lankan delegation of over 100 Buddhist monks and dignitaries, including a 12-member holy relic entourage.
The Prime Minister will also participate in an event marking Abhidhamma Day at Mahaparinirvana Temple.
Later in the day, he will attend a public function to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects in Kushinagar.
Amit Shah to Flag off 'Modi Van'
Union home minister Amit Shah will flag off "Modi van" under the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) "Seva hi Sangathan" programme to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 20 years as a head of government, which he did earlier this month.
The special van will be operated under the aegis of Kaushambi Vikas Parishad, which is run by Vinod Sonkar, a national secretary of the BJP and its Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi.
"Five such vans will be operated in five assembly constituencies across the Kaushambi district, with one van for each constituency. These will be operated from a control office," Sonkar said, adding that each vehicle has a 32-inch television and high-speed internet services to broadcast PM Modi's monthly Man Ki Baat radio address, as well as his public rallies and speeches.
The Modi Van will also help in promoting vaccination against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in remote villages, the BJP leader explained further. Talking about its features, he said that the vehicle has a telemedicine, as well as a machine that can test 39 blood samples at one go.

Anthem on India's Covid 19 Vaccination Launched
The Centre released a Covid-19 vaccination anthem produced by singer and musician Kailash Kher to bust myths and "slay vaccine hesitancy".
Titled 'Bharat Ka Tikakaran', the 3:30 minute song and video was launched at Shastri Bhawan in Delhi in the presence of Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya, Hardeep Singh Puri, and Rameswar Teli.
Manipur Residents Celebrate Renaming of Mount Harriet
People in many parts of Manipur celebrated the renaming of Mount Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Mount Manipur.
This is in response to an appeal by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. He said that it was a matter of happiness that the BJP leaders had decided to give due recognition to the erstwhile princes and Army officers of Manipur who revolted against the British.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the renaming during his visit to the Andaman, in recognition of the revolt in Manipur during 1857-1891.
Naga Conflict: Rebel Group NSCN-IM Firm on Separate Flag, Constitution
Hardening its stand on peace talks with the government, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has said that its position on the demand for a separate Naga national flag and constitution is unchanged as these are emblematic of the Naga political struggle and identity.
The NSCN-IM, which resumed talks to find a solution to the decades-old Naga political issue after a gap of almost two years, said in a statement on Friday that the problem is "deeply rooted in India's malicious pleasure, violating the historical and political rights of the Naga people".
Navrang Saini Gets Additional Charge of IBBI
The Centre has assigned additional charge of Chairperson of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) to Navrang Saini, Whole Time Member, IBBI for a period of three months.
This move comes nearly a fortnight after M. S. Sahoo, who was first Chairperson of IBBI since October 1, 2016, demitted office.
