Amritanandamayi Appointed Chair of Civil Society of G20 Summit
Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) was appointed the Chair of the country's Civil 20 (C20), an official engagement group of the Group of 20 (G20), by the Union Government.
The G20 is the premier inter-governmental forum for the world's developed and emerging economies to address financial stability on a global basis. The C20 is its platform for civil-society organisations (CSOs) to bring forth non-government and non-business voices to the G20 leaders.
India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. The pinnacle of events is September 9-10, 2023 when the G20 Leaders' Summit will take place in New Delhi at the level of Heads of State and Government, it said. But in advance, India will host more than 200 meetings across the country, an endeavour that involves intense work by ministerial meetings, working groups, and engagement groups.
Gujarat Declared As 100% 'Har Ghar Jal' State
Gujarat was declared a 'Har Ghar Jal' state, meaning all households in rural areas have access to safe drinking water through taps, ensuring that 'No One is Left Out'. As per the government data, all 91,73,378 houses in the state now have water connections.
Water Supply Department, Govt. of Gujarat said that it is a marvelous day in the history of Gujarat as it became 100% tap water connected. Every rural household is now connected with individual FHTC that provides safe, adequate and regular drinking water.
Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship programme of Government of India which was announced from the ramparts of Red Fort by Prime Minister on August 15, 2019. The mission aims to make provision of potable tap water supply in adequate quantity, of prescribed quality and on regular and long-term basis to every rural household of the country by 2024.

MoS Muraleedharan Underscores Policy to Deepen Engagement with Africa
Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan underscored India's policy to intensify and deepen its engagement with Africa at the Dakar Forum held in Senegal.
Muraleedharan had paid an official visit to Senegal and participated in the 8th edition of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa.
The Dakar Forum was attended by Presidents of Senegal, Angola and Cabo Verde, along with over 15 Ministers and high-level dignitaries from 29 countries.
The Forum has become a key event for policy discussions on Africa. This is the first time that India participated at a Ministerial level.
Odisha CM Launches 'SAFAL' Common Credit Portal for Farmers
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a common credit portal SAFAL' (Simplified Application for Agricultural Loans) for the welfare of farmers.
As per the Chief Minister, the facility would enable farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to access more than 300 term loan products of over 40 banks.
It has also been integrated with Krushak Odisha and would have access to 70-plus model project reports.
The application can revolutionise credit provisions for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs.
The application is a one-stop solution for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to avail formal sector credit from public and private sector banks, Regional Rural Banks, State Cooperative Banks, and Small Finance Banks.
The portal will ease the loan application process benefiting both the farmers and banks significantly.

Govt. Appoints Sangeeta Verma as Acting Chairperson of CCI for 3 Months
The government appointed Sangeeta Verma as the acting chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
The appointment follows full-time Chairperson Ashok Kumar Gupta demitting office.
Verma is currently a member at the regulator.
Her appointment will be effective for a "period of three months or till appointment of regular Chairperson or till any further orders, whichever is the earliest.
Gupta had taken over as the CCI chairperson in November 2018.
Kerala Govt. Launches Mobile App to Prevent Cyber Crimes against Children
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched the 'Kunjapp', a mobile application to prevent cyber crimes against children in the state.
Vijayan also inaugurated the training for the newly appointed Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) members at Kovalam.
Quality Council of India Appoints Jaxay Shah as New Chairman
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed Jaxay Shah, founder chairman of Savvy Group and former chairman of CREDAI as the chairman of the Quality Council of India (QCI) for three years. He succeeded former McKinsey India chief Adil Zainulbhai, who served as the chairman of QCI through three terms for eight years from 2014 to 2022.
Jaxay Shah was appointed based on his vast industry experience which shall contribute to further propelling the wheels of Quality, a legacy established by the former Chairpersons of QCI. In addition, he also holds the position of the chairman of the Assocham Western Region Development Council and serves as the Advisor at the PharmEasy Accelerator Program, which offers 1 lakh+ medicine and health products.
QCI was established in 1997 through a Cabinet note by the Government of India. QCI is mandated to promote quality in the country through national accreditation of testing, inspection and certification bodies which is internationally recognised, driving third-party assessments across sectors.
'Honesty Shops' Launched for School Students in Kerala's Ernakulam
Schools in Kerala's Ernakulam district introduced "honesty shops" for students up to Class 12. This initiative was launched by the Student police cadet with the aim of cultivating valuable lessons on trust, truth and integrity for students.
There would be no salesperson in these shops and neither would they have a shopkeeper present. Students can choose items they need and drop the money for each item inside the collection box kept on a table. The price list of every object is displayed next to it.
The program has been launched in as many as 15 schools in Kerala's Ernakulam district. The shops are open mainly for students up to Class 12.
Minister of State Devusinh Chauhan Chairs 7th Meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers
India was represented by Minister of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan.
The meeting was held under India's current chair of BRICS.
At the meeting, Mr. Devusinh Chauhan highlighted that India is committed to bridge the digital divide in India.
To attain the objective the country is taking various Telecomm reforms in order to unleash the true potential of the telecom industry.
It aims to give major support to telecom service providers in India.

They also decided to host the Digital BRICS Forum annually in order to share, adopt the expertise solutions to uplift the communication domain.
India's First 'Migration Monitoring System' Inaugurated in Mumbai
India's first 'Migration Monitoring Systems' was inaugurated by the Maharashtra Women and Children Development Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha in Mumbai. The website-based Migration Tracking System would track the movement of vulnerable seasonal migrant beneficiaries. The Migration Monitoring Systems aims to provide information about migrant pregnant women, lactating women, and children.

Pradeep Singh Kharola Appointed CMD of India Trade Promotion Organization
Former Civil Aviation Secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola was appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO). Kharola, a 1985 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Karnataka cadre, retired as the Civil Aviation secretary in September 2021.
He took over as the Chairman of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) -- mandated to conduct computer-based Common Eligibility Test for government job recruitment -- in March 2022.
He will continue to hold the charge of the post of chairman, NRA, till appointment of a regular incumbent in his place.

Maharashtra CM Shinde Restores General Consent to CBI to Probe Cases
Reversing the decision of the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) dispensation, the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government restored the general consent given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate cases in the state.
With the reversal of this decision, the CBI will no longer require permission of the state government to step in.
CM Shinde cleared the proposal of the home department headed by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to reverse the decision of MVA government.
On October 21, 2020, the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government had withdrawn the general consent to the CBI under the contention that the central government was misusing central probe agencies to settle political scores.
Haryana Best-governed in Big States: Public Affairs Index 2022
Haryana emerged as the best-governed among 18 big states of the country, according to the Public Affairs Index (PAI) 2022 prepared by a Bengaluru-based think tank.
The state topped among the major states with a score of 0.6948, followed by Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Karnataka.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that this could become possible because of the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sikkim topped in the category of 10 smaller states. In PAI 2022, the analysis of governance experienced a shift from the framework of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to a constitutionally enshrined principle of justice.
