Bumrah Smashes 29 of Broad's Record-breaking 35-Run Over in Test History
India captain Jasprit Bumrah bludgeoned a hapless Stuart Broad for 29 runs to create a world record for maximum runs off a single over in Test cricket, beating the legendary Brian Lara's feat by one run.
The world record stayed with Lara for 18 years -- he had hit South African left-arm spinner Robin Peterson for 28 runs in a Test match in 2003-04, which included four fours and two sixes off six legal deliveries.

A day after winning his first ever medal at the coveted Diamond League, Neeraj Chopra has said that he is not feeling the pressure of being the reigning Olympics javelin throw champion.
Chopra threw to 89.94 metres in Stockholm to win the silver medal behind Anderson Peters from Grenada, who won gold with a throw of 90.31m. Germany's Julian Weber bagged bronze with a throw of 89.08m.
Chopra's medal-winning attempt was also a new national record for the javelin ace. He bettered his own mark of 89.30m set at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland earlier in 2022.
Sweden's Armand Duplantis Creates New World Record of 6.16 m in Men's Outdoor Pole Vault
Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis improved his own outdoor world record by clearing 6.16 metres (20 feet, 2 1/2 inches) at the Stockholm Diamond League.
Duplantis cleared the bar with plenty to spare on his second attempt to better his previous mark of 6.15, set in Rome in 2020 — when he broke Sergey Bubka's 26-year-old outdoor record.
Duplantis also holds the indoor world record of 6.20 (20 feet, 4 inches), set at the world indoor championships in Serbia this year.
The American-born Duplantis competes for Sweden and is also the reigning Olympic champion.
Axelsen Defeats Momota to Win Malaysia Open Title
Japan's Kento Momota suffered a heavy defeat in the Malaysia Open final against world number one Viktor Axelsen, the latest disappointing performance from the once undisputed king of badminton.
The tournament marked the first time Momota played in Malaysia since he was involved in a car crash there two years ago, which sent his career into free fall.
Denmark's Axelsen, the reigning Olympic champion, outplayed the Japanese star from start to finish, taking only 34 minutes to win 21-4, 21-7.
Lyon Surpasses Kapil Dev, Enters Top ten Test Wicket-takers of All Time
Australian spinner Nathan Lyon surpassed legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev to enter the list of top ten wicket-takers of all time in Test cricket.
The veteran Aussie spinner accomplished this during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium in Galle.
Lyon was at his destructive best throughout the match, taking 5/90 in the first innings that bundled out Sri Lanka for 212. He later took 4/31 in the second innings, restricting the Lankans to merely 113.
Lyon now has 436 wickets, surpassing the total of 434 wickets by the legendary Indian all-rounder.

Adani Sportsline, the sports arm of the Adani Group, inked a long-term principal sponsorship deal with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). It would be the official partner of the Indian contingent during the upcoming Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022, and the Paris Olympic Games 2024. The group had earlier been associated with the Indian contingent during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
The partnership is an extension of the Adani Group's sports portfolio that focuses on building a world-class ecosystem to nurture sporting talent, accelerate the sports economy, and play the role of an enabler in India's journey to becoming a leading sporting nation.

Formula E Enters India; Hyderabad to Host First ever Race in February
Formula E will make its way to India for the first time ever with a race scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on February 11, 2023, the organisers confirmed.
The race in Hyderabad will be the first time a major international racing event is held in the country since the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix in October 2013 at the Buddh International Circuit.
Alongside India, Brazil will also welcome the E-Prix for the first time on March 25 as the Formula E and FIA released the provisional calendar for the upcoming ninth season (2022-23).

England Picks Jos Buttler as Captain of T20 and ODI Teams
Jos Buttler was promoted to England's new white-ball captain and took immediate charge of the Twenty20 and one-day international cricket teams.
Vice-captain since 2015, Buttler has deputised for Eoin Morgan on 14 occasions.
Buttler will take charge of 12 games in July, with T20 and ODI series against India and South Africa.
The wicketkeeper-batter is a ferocious striker of the ball. He has played 151 ODI games for England, scoring 4,120 runs at an average of 41.20, including 10 hundreds and 21 fifties.
Gujarat to Host National Games in Sept-Oct
Postponed several times due to different reasons, the National Games will be held in multiple cities in Gujarat in September-October 2022, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Secretary General Rajiv Mehta confirmed. IOA took the decision after Gujarat Olympic Association and the state government jointly expressed their interest to host the Games.
The Games will be held in five or six cities in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad.
The last National Games were held in Kerala in 2015 and Goa was to host the 36th edition in November 2016. After two delays in 2018 and 2019 due to the state's inability to create adequate infrastructure, the Games were further postponed to 2020.
Covid-19 then forced the postponement of the National Games in 2020.

Indian Olympic Association Wants CGF to Increase India's Quota
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) requested the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) to consider increasing India's athlete quota so that high jumper Tejaswin Shankar and five others can be included in the country's contingent for the Birmingham Games.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, is an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that is scheduled to be held in Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
Asiad Medallist Poovamma Handed 3-month Ban
Senior India quarter-miler and Asian games medallist M.R. Poovamma was handed a three-month ban by the National Anti-Doping Agency for failing a dope test last year.
Poovamma's dope sample collected during the Indian Grand Prix in Patiala in February 2021 had returned positive for stimulant methylhexaneamine.
Athletics Federation of India (AFI) President Adillle Sumariwalla confirmed the development.

Olympic Champion Sydney McLaughlin Breaks own 400m Hurdles World Record
Olympic gold medallist, Sydney McLaughlin broke her own women's 400 metres hurdles world record at the U.S. championships in Eugene, Oregon, winning the final in 51.41 seconds. Britton Wilson finished 1.67 seconds behind with Shamier Little taking third in 53.92.
Sydney previously set the record with a 51.90-seconds performance at the U.S. Olympic trials in 2021, only to shatter that figure in Tokyo, collecting gold in 51.46.
Novak Djokovic Becomes 1st Player to Win 80 Matches in all Four Grand Slams
Defending champion Novak Djokovic survived the first round challenge against South Korean Kwon Soon-woo 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Wimbledon.
With the win, the 35-year-old Djokovic became the first player, male or female, to record 80 singles wins at all four Grand Slams.
Djokovic next faces Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, ranked 79 in the world, who beat Kamil Majchrzak of Poland in straight sets.
