Asia Cup 2022: 15th Edition of Asia Cup Cricket Tournament
After months of uncertainty over Sri Lanka hosting the Asia Cup 2022 due to the economic and political crisis in the country, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the country's cricket governing board, affirmed that it is ready to host the tournament starting from August 27.
The Asia Cup was originally scheduled to be held in September 2020, with India entering the competition as defending champions. But the tournament was postponed to two times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hosts Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will feature in the tournament and will be joined by another Asian side, which could be either UAE, Kuwait, Singapore or Hong Kong, to be decided after a qualifying tournament.
The 2022 Asia Cup will be the 15th edition of the tournament, having started in 1984 in Sharjah. India is the most successful team in the tournament, winning it seven times.
Rybakina Topples Halep to Reach First Grand Slam Final
Elena Rybakina became the first player from Kazakhstan to reach a major final after defeating 2019 champion Simona Halep of Romania in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at Wimbledon.
Rybakina will now face another first-time Grand Slam finalist, Ons Jabeur of Tunisia, for the Wimbledon title.
World No.23 Rybakina, who became the youngest Wimbledon finalist since Garbine Muguruza in 2015, is seeking her third career singles title.

India Names 215-athlete Contingent for 2022 CWG
India announced a 215-athlete contingent across 16 disciplines for the Commonwealth Games (CWG), which begin in Birmingham on July 28.
On the sidelines of the send-off ceremony for the CWG-bound athletes, IOA acting president Anil Khanna called it a 'gender-neutral contingent', with 108 men and 107 women being part of the touring party.
The overall contingent count stands at 322, which includes 72 team officials, 26 extra officials, nine contingent staff, including three general managers.

Ons Jabeur Becomes First Arab Woman to reach a Grand Slam Semi-finals
Tunisia's world No.2 tennis player Ons Jabeur rallied from a set down to defeat Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 at Wimbledon and became the first Arab or North African woman to reach a Grand Slam singles semi-finals.
Across both men's and women's tennis, Arabs and North Africans were previously winless in major quarterfinals in the Open Era, including two losses by Jabeur herself; she lost to eventual champion Sofia Kenin at the 2020 Australian Open, and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka at Wimbledon 12 months ago.

Mirza-Mate in Semis
Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Mate Pavic advanced to the mixed doubles semi-finals of the Wimbledon. The sixth-seeded duo eked out a thrilling 6-4 3-6 7-5 win over fourth seeds Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers.
This is Mirza's best mixed doubles performance at the event. She had previously reached the quarterfinals three times. A Wimbledon title is the only mixed doubles Grand Slam missing from her trophy cabinet.
