World Hearing Day is celebrated every year on March 3 to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and health care across the world.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) first acknowledged World Hearing Day in 2007. Previously, it was known as International Ear Care Day. In 2016, the WHO officially renamed it World Hearing Day. Each year, a unique theme is selected, and educational materials are developed in multiple languages to spread awareness.
World Wildlife Day
Every year, World Wildlife Day is celebrated on March 3 to spread awareness about the importance of flora and fauna. This day encourages people to support conservation efforts, adopt sustainable practices and coexist peacefully with nature.
World Wildlife Day was established by the United Nations in 2013 after Thailand proposed to dedicate a day to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. On December 20, 2013, the UN General Assembly officially declared March 3 as World Wildlife Day with the first celebration taking place in 2014.
The theme of World Wildlife Day 2025 is 'Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet.' It focuses on finding better ways to fund wildlife conservation while ensuring a sustainable future for both nature and communities.

World Civil Defence Day
World Civil Defence Day, observed annually on March 1, aims to raise awareness about civil protection, disaster preparedness, and emergency response. Established by the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO), this day highlights the crucial role of civil defence organisations in safeguarding communities against natural and man-made disasters.
The International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) was established in 1931 to promote global safety.
The year 1990 marked the first observance of World Civil Defence Day, officially designated by the ICDO.
The 2025 theme, 'Civil Defence, Guarantee of Security for the Population,' emphasises the need for robust disaster management strategies, community participation, and proactive preparedness measures to protect lives and property.
Zero Discrimination Day
Zero Discrimination Day, observed annually on March 1, promotes the right of every individual to live with dignity and equality, free from discrimination.
Zero Discrimination Day first came into existence on March 1, 2014, as an initiative by UNAIDS, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS. The movement stemmed from the Zero Discrimination Campaign launched on World AIDS Day in December 2013. The campaign was created to champion equal access to healthcare and eradicate discrimination against individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
The theme for Zero Discrimination Day 2025 'We Stand Together,' underscores the critical role communities play in sustaining global health efforts, particularly in the fight against HIV.
