India's Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold in Men's Javelin Throw at City of Lisbon Athletics Meet
Neeraj Chopra marked his international comeback with a throw of 83.18m to win gold at a low-key City of Lisbon meet in Portugal. It was Chopra's first event overseas since qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics in South Africa in January 2020 with a throw of 87.86.
Chopra, India's top medal hope for Tokyo Olympics, said he treated it as a warm up event and preparation towards bigger meets in Sweden and Finland in the coming weeks. Chopra, his coach Klaus Bartonietz and physio Ishaan Marwah reached Portugal five days ago.

French Open 2021: Britain's Joe Salisbury Wins Mixed Doubles Title
Joe Salisbury became the first Briton to win the mixed doubles at the French Open in 39 years as he claimed a three-set win alongside Desirae Krawczyk.
Salisbury, 29, and American Krawczyk lost the first set but fought back to beat Russian duo Aslan Karatsev and Elena Vesnina 2-6 6-4 10-5.
The last Briton to win the title at Roland Garros was John Lloyd in 1982.
It is Salisbury's second Grand Slam title following his 2020 men's doubles victory with Rajeev Ram in Australia.
WTC Final: 10 Legends from Five Eras to be Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame
The ICC will induct 10 legends of the game into its illustrious Hall of Fame, with two players each from five eras, dating back to cricket's early days, joining an existing list of 93 of the world's greatest.
The global cricket body announced a special edition of the ICC Hall of Fame to coincide with the first-ever World Test Championship final, to be contested between India and New Zealand, from June 18 in Southampton.
The special intake will see two players from each of the following five eras join the ranks of the world's greatest players: Early Cricket Era (pre-1918), Inter-War Cricket Era (1918-1945), Post-War Cricket Era (1946-1970), ODI Era (1971-1995), Modern Cricket Era (1996-2016).

IOA in Search of New Apparel Sponsor
After parting ways with Chinese sportswear company Li Ning to "honour public sentiment", the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is hoping to find a new kit sponsor for the country's Olympic-bound contingent by the end of this month.
The IOA dropped Li Ning as its official kit sponsor for the Olympics and stated that the country's athletes will wear unbranded apparel during the Tokyo Games, scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8.
But IOA president Narinder Batra said that search is on for a new sponsor within the limited available time.
India's First Ever Taekwondo Entry at Paralympics
Aruna Tanwar has been awarded a wild card entry for the upcoming Tokyo Paralympic Games, which will make her the first Indian to compete in the global event, the national federation said. Indian Taekwondo president Namdev Shirgaonkar said that Aruna received the wild card based on her exemplary past performances. She is the first taekwondo athlete from India to qualify for the Paralympics.

IOC Announces Names of Refugee Athletes for Tokyo Olympics 2021
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the list of 29 refugee athletes who will compete at the Tokyo Olympics under the Olympic flag.
During the opening ceremony on July 23, the refugee athletes -- from 13 host National Olympic Committees (NOCs) competing in 12 sports -- will enter the stadium "in second position after Greece".
Kenya's Tegla Loroupe, Olympian and former marathon world-record holder, will be the team's Chef de Mission.

Indian football talisman Sunil Chhetri has surpassed Argentina's global superstar Lionel Messi to become the second-highest active international goal-scorer with 74 strikes, adding another feather to his illustrious career.
Chhetri achieved the staggering feat with his brace against Bangladesh in the joint preliminary qualifying round match for 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
The seasoned striker, who helped India register their first win in six years in World Cup qualifiers, now stands only behind Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo (103) in the active international goal-scorer list.
Chhetri leads Barcelona star Messi by two goals and sits a place above Ali Mabkhout of the UAE, who is third on the list with 73 strikes to his name.
