IPL 2022 Set to be Held in Four Venues in Mumbai and Pune
As per reports, the matches of the upcoming Indian Premier League will be held in four venues across two cities -- Mumbai and Pune.
While 55 matches will be held in Mumbai across three venues -- Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil and Brabourne Stadium, Pune's MCA International Stadium will play host to 15 games.
Ajit Agarkar Joins Delhi Capitals as Assistant Coach
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals announced the appointment of former India pacer Ajit Agarkar as the team's new assistant coach.
The 44-year-old, with 288 ODI and 58 Test wickets to his name, has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
Agarkar joins the Delhi Capitals coaching staff of Ricky Ponting (Head Coach), Pravin Amre (Assistant Coach) and James Hopes (Bowling Coach).

Kusum to represent India in 2022 Asian Junior Fencing Championship
Kusum, a trainee of the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, Chandigarh, fencing club and student of Post-Gradate Government College, Sector 11, was selected to represent the country in the 2022 Asian Junior Fencing Championship, to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The event is being held from February 24 to March 3. She was selected on the basis of her performance in the Junior Nationals. Kusum, whose father is a cook and mother a housewife, started practising fencing at the age of 13.
Nandini Secures India's First Medal at 73rd Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament
Nandini (+81kg) assured India of its first medal at the ongoing 73rd Strandja Memorial boxing tournament in Sofia by advancing to the semi-finals with a dominating win over Kazakhstan's Valeriya Axenova in the quarter-finals.
She will square off against another Kazakh, Lazzat Kungeibayeva, in the semi-finals. Kungeibayeva is a former world champion.
Strandja Cup and officially known as the (Strandja Memorial) is an international amateur boxing tournament held annually in Bulgaria. The Strandja Cup is the oldest international amateur boxing competition in Europe. The first tournament was held in 1950 at the Yunak stadium in Sofia.

World Para Championships: Archers make History
India scripted history in the World Archery Para Championships as the duo of Shyam Sundar Swami and Jyoti Baliyan assured the country of at least a silver medal by reaching the final of the compound mixed team open event.
Sundar and Baliyan downed the French pair of Julie Chupin and Thierry Joussaume 151-145 in the semi-finals. In the quarter-finals, the Indians had pipped Maria Andrea Virgilio and Matteo Bonacina of Italy 147-146.
India's para-archers have won medals in almost every event since 2017, except in the World Championships.

Carlos Alcaraz Becomes Youngest ATP 500 Winner with Rio Open Title
Two years after winning his first tour-level match in Rio de Janeiro, 18-year-old Carlos Alcaraz of Spain became the youngest to clinch an ATP 500 title at the same event when he defeated Diego Schwartzman in the final of the Rio Open.
It was a second tour-level title for Alcaraz after his victory in Umag in 2021 and his 6-4 6-2 victory against 13th-ranked Argentine Schwartzman made him the youngest ATP 500 champion since the category was created in 2009.
IOC Athletes' Commission Re-elects Emma Terho as Chair
International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission re-elected ice hockey player Emma Terho of Finland as its Chair and table tennis player Seung Min Ryu of the Republic of Korea as its First Vice-Chair. The commission also elected cyclist Sarah Walker of New Zealand as the second VC of the Commission.

Indian Chess GM Praggnanandhaa Shocks Carlsen
After a disastrous day one when he lost three successive games, 16-year-old chess Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa shocked world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen of Norway in the eighth round of the Airthings Masters rapid online chess tournament.
The fifth-youngest person ever to achieve the title of Grandmaster, Praggnanandhaa, playing with black pieces against the 31-year-old Carlsen, won in 39 moves in a Tarrasch variation game. He thus halted Carlsen's run of three consecutive victories.
The Indian, who won the World Youth Chess Championships U-8 title in 2013, which earned him the title of FIDE Master at the age of 7, currently has eight points and is in joint 12th spot after eight rounds.
Olympic Committee Thanks Beijing 2022 for Memorable Olympic Winter Games
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressed its gratitude to the Beijing 2022 Organising Committee for successfully conducting the Olympic Winter Games amid Covid-19 protocols and despite controversies over human alleged rights violations and diplomatic boycott.
The IOC organised a thank-you event at the Big Air venue in Shougang Park in Beijing to express its gratitude to the Chinese authorities.
During the ceremony, the Olympic Order in Gold - the IOC's highest honour for individuals - was presented by IOC President Thomas Bach to Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, responsible for the anti-COVID management of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, and Cai Qi, President of the Organising Committee for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.
In addition, Thomas Bach presented the Olympic Order in Silver to some senior officials of the organising committee who made significant contributions to the delivery of the Games.
