India's First Female Cricket Commentator Chandra Naidu Passes Away
India's first female cricket commentator Chandra Naidu passed away. She was the daughter of the country's first Test captain CK Naidu. She had done her first commentary during a match between national champions Bombay (now Mumbai) and MCC in Indore in 1977. She had also penned a book titled 'CK Nayudu: A Daughter Remembers' on her late father, who was a distinguished cricketer.

Vivo Ropes in Virat Kohli as Brand Ambassador
Chinese smartphone major Vivo appointed cricketer Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador.
With the association, Vivo aims to reach the millennials and technologically driven consumers, and a 360-degree marketing approach will characterise the company's association with Kohli.
Kohli will be seen spreading awareness and promoting the launch of Vivo's upcoming product series in the pipeline.
The association will include all ATL and BTL (above and below the line) activities, including the brand's forthcoming events, TV, print, outdoor and social media campaigns.
Along with Aamir Khan and Sara Ali Khan, Vivo is looking at widening its brand reach, and expressed confidence that associating with a sports figure will help the company reach a wider audience.

Ex-Union Minister Digvijaysinh Zala Passes Away
Former Union Environment Minister and MLA from Gujarat's Wankaner Digvijaysinh Zala passed away at the age of 88.
He was the head of the erstwhile princely state of Wankaner in Saurashtra.
Zala was an MLA from Wankaner for the years 1962-67 as an independent candidate and as a member of the Swatantra Party from 1967-71.
He, then, joined the Congress and became a Member of Parliament from Surendranagar for two terms from 1979 to 1989.
Establishing the Environment ministry under Prime minister Indira Gandhi, he became the first Environment Minister of the country from 1982 to 1984.
He also represented India in the United Nations on more than one occasion, speaking on environmental issues facing the world.

Periayarist Anaimuthu Passes Away
Periyarist and founder of the Marxist Periyarist Communist Party V. Anaimuthu died due to age related complications. He was 96.
Anaimuthu, who published the 20 volumes of collected works of Dravidar Kazhagam founder Periyar, was also instrumental in convincing MPs belonging to the Backward Classes to support the recommendations of the Mandal Commission.

Poonam Gupta to Head NCAER as its First Woman Director General
Poonam Gupta will be new director general of the policy think tank National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER).
Gupta, the first woman director general of NCAER, will succeed Shekhar Shah who has led NCAER since 2011 and will complete his second five year term in early May.
Gupta is currently working as a lead economist at the World Bank, Washington DC.
Prior to joining the World Bank in 2013, she was the Reserve Bank of India chair professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy and a professor of macroeconomics at ICRIER.
