NSDC Partners with Upskilling Platform Mythiksha to help Upskill People in Rural India
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a strategic implementation and knowledge partner in the Skill India Mission, and upskilling platform Mythiksha officially joined hands to help Mythiksha expand its reach in rural cities and promote employment opportunities for rural youth.
With NSDC, Mythiksha expects to reach over 1 lakh students over the next 12 months. At present, Mythiksha follows a 'Learn Now Pay Later' model, where candidates enroll with an admission fee and clear the course fee in easy installments after they receive a job.
Govt. Proposes a New Regulator for 'Uniformity' in All Board Exams
The Union government plans to draw up a "benchmark framework" to assess students at the secondary and higher secondary level to bring about "uniformity" across state and central boards which currently follow different standards of evaluation, leading to wide disparities in scores.
Over the last few months, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has held a series of meetings with the representatives of state boards and State Councils of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) to arrive at a common understanding to implement the plan, as part of which a new assessment regulator is being set up.
The proposed regulator, PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), which will act as a constituent unit of the NCERT, will also be tasked with holding periodic learning outcome tests like the National Achievement Survey (NAS) and State Achievement Surveys.
University of Auckland Announces Scholarships Worth NZ$1.5 Million for Indian Students
The Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland is launching an extensive range of scholarship package for Indian students totalling almost NZ$1.5 million. Indian students who want to apply for any of the scholarships can submit their application at the official university website — auckland.ac.nz.
These scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and interested candidates can apply for these from October 10 till November 21, and then from March 9, 2023 till April 20, 2023. Scholarship applications will usually open around six weeks before the closing date.

Centre Identifies 75 Tribal Districts for Focused TB Interventions
After having run an active case-finding campaign to detect instances of Tuberculosis (TB) among tribal populations over the past six months, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Central TB Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare zeroed in on 75 tribal districts, where focused interventions would be run over the next few months with the aim to make them TB-free.
The campaign to detect TB cases across 174 tribal districts started this January (2022) under the Aashwasan Campaign, under which door-to-door screening was done in over 68,000 villages. Official data showed that 3,82,811 people were identified for presumptive TB after a verbal screening of over 1.03 crore people in these villages.
UGC to Launch 'e-Samadhan' Portal to Address Student Grievances
A new student grievance redressal platform, "e-Samadhan", is being launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The platform, which will be operational next week, will address all the students' problems online.
UGC has also set definite timelines for addressing the grievances. For student-related matters, the deadline has been fixed at ten working days. For teaching and non-teaching issues, the issue needs to be addressed within 15 days. For any matter related to the university or college, a maximum time limit of 20 days is allowed.
Nearly 38 million students are expected to be benefitted from the e-Samadhan portal.

South Korea Breaks Record for World's Lowest Fertility Rate, Again
South Korea broken its own record for the world's lowest fertility rate, according to official figures released, as the country struggles to reverse its years-long trend of declining births.
The country's fertility rate, which indicates the average number of children a woman will have in her lifetime, sunk to 0.81 in 2021 -- 0.03% lower than the previous year.
South Korea's birth rate has been dropping since 2015, and in 2020 the country recorded more deaths than births for the first time.

CM Inaugurates Delhi's First School to Prepare Students for Armed Forces
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the city's first school which would prepare students for the armed forces.
The Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School at Jharoda Kalan in Najafgarh currently has 175 students.
The state-of-the-art school has an exclusive services preparatory wing to inculcate officer-like qualities (OLQs) in students through individual and group tasks, mock interviews, psychometric tests and personality development workshops.
It has a free hostel facility with cadet mess for boys and girls and is part of the Delhi government's School of Specialised Excellence and affiliated to the Delhi Board of School Education.
UGC Declares 21 Universities as 'Fake'
The University Grants Commission (UGC) declared 21 universities as "fake" and not empowered to confer any degree, majority of which are in Delhi followed by Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi has eight fake universities, Uttar Pradesh has seven such universities, Karntaka, Maharashtra, Puduchery, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Kerala also have fake universities on the list.

Amrita Hospital, Asia's biggest hospital in Faridabad, Haryana unveiled by PM Modi
A 2,600-bed Amrita hospital Faridabad, Asia's biggest hospital with state-of-the-art technology, including a centrally located, fully automated laboratory, was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This Amrita hospital Faridabad will significantly improve the NCR region's healthcare infrastructure. A 14-floor tower housing the primary medical services would be part of the 36 lakh square foot built-up area of the Amrita hospital Faridabad complex.
There is also a helipad on the rooftop of Amrita hospital Faridabad complex.
UP government to build India's first education township
The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to build an education township in the state. As per the Yogi Adityanath government, the education township will be developed on the idea of 'Single Entry, Multiple Exit'. The move will provide high-quality education to the youth and equip them with a variety of professional skills in a single place.
