Asia's Biggest International Food and Hospitality Fair - AAHAR 2022 Begins in New Delhi

  • Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in association with the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) is organizing Asia's biggest international food and hospitality fair AAHAR-2022 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
  • More than 80 exporters from different segments of agricultural products which include geographical indication products, processed food, organic, and frozen food products will participate in the fair. APEDA created dedicated stalls for exporters from North East Region and Himalayan states like Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, women entrepreneurs, farmer producers organizations, start-ups, and exporters of millets.

Govt to Launch AYUSH Visa for Traditional Medical Tourism

  • In a bid to boost medical tourism in traditional medicine, India is set to offer special visas for those travelling to the country to avail AYUSH treatment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced at a global business event on AYUSH. Inaugurating the three-day Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit at Mahatma Mandir in Ahmedabad, Modi said that the government will also soon launch an 'AYUSH mark' for standardisation and authentication of quality AYUSH products in the global market.
  • AYUSH, which stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, also saw the launch of a dedicated portal for the recently formed AYUSH Export Promotion Council. Further, the government is also set to create a network of AYUSH Parks to encourage research and boost indigenous manufacturing of traditional medicinal products.

National Rail Museum with IRCTC Announces Launch of Online Ticketing for Rail Museum

  • National Rail Museum, in association with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), has announced the launch of online ticketing for Rail Museum. The online ticketing system for Rail Museum situated in New Delhi, was launched by Chairman and CEO of Railway Board V. K. Tripathi on the occasion of World Heritage Day.
  • National Rail Museum represents 169 years of rich heritage of Indian Railways. Emulating the setting of a railway yard, the extensive outdoor gallery houses a variety of steam, diesel and electric locomotives along with fascinating collection of royal saloons, wagons, carriages, armoured trains and rail cars. Variety of rides like Joy and Toy train ride, 3D virtual coach ride, simulators ride with steam, diesel and electric locomotive are available in the museum.

Tripura Hosts India-Bangladesh Tourism Fest

  • A three-day India-Bangladesh Tourism Festival took place at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace. This move came in the wake of boosting tourism in Bangladesh and Tripura as well. Hotel owners, tour operators, and tourism officials along with others from both the countries attended the festival that was organised by Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC). Prominent artistes from both the countries attended the festival, whereas a mega cultural programme was held in the inaugural session of the festival.
  • An event on traditional food to enable visitors sample the delicious indigenous cuisine of Tripura, at the main entrance of the palace, was also a part of the event.

Alliance Air Starts Direct Flight Service Between Mumbai And Keshod In Gujarat Under Udan Regiona...

  • Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off the first flight from Keshod Gujarat to Mumbai and vice-versa under UDAN Regional Connectivity Scheme. Alliance Air has commenced the first flight from Keshod to Mumbai and vice-versa. Mr. Scindia has also inaugurated upgraded facilities at Keshod Airport. Keshod airport was set up by the then Nawab of Junagadh in 1930 and was lying unused before Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to revive it.
  • Keshod airport has been revived by the Airports Authority of India -AAI at an investment of 25 crore rupees. UDAN-RCS under the National Civil Aviation Policy was launched in 2016. The objective of the UDAN Scheme is to connect small and medium cities with big cities through air service.

Saudi Arabia to Allow one Million Pilgrims to Perform Hajj this Year

  • Saudi Arabia announced that it will allow one million pilgrims to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year. Muslims from within and outside the country will be able to perform the Hajj as long as they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and are under the age of 65.
  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only a few thousand domestic pilgrims were permitted to perform the Hajj in 2021.
