Govt Approves Ex-Gratia Compensation For FCI Officials In Case Of Death
The government has approved the proposal for grant of ex-gratia monetary compensation to 1,08,714 workers and officers of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) including 80,000 labour who are working round the clock to supply food grains across the country amidst the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

Samadhan:
♦ Students can participate in the Samadhan challenge.
♦ The participating candidates are expected to search and develop new measures that can provide quick solutions to the Coronavirus epidemic and other such calamities. The solution can be made available to the government agencies, health services, hospitals, and other services
♦ Samadhan will be done to make citizens aware, to motivate them, to face any challenge, to prevent any crisis and to help people get a livelihood.
♦ Under the Samadhan challenge, the faculty and students can conduct new experiments and make new discoveries. The experiments should be provided with a strong base leading to a spirit of experimentation and discovery.
♦ Applications to participate in the competition will start on 7 April 2020. he last date for submission of application is 14 April 2020.
♦ The names of the contestants after shortlisting will be declared on 17 April 2020. The contestants are expected to submit their entries between 18-23 April 2020. The final list of Samadhan will be released on 24 April and the grand online jury will decide the winners of the challenge on 25 April 2020.
Delhi govt. Launched operation SHIELD to contain COVID-19 pandemic
The Delhi government launched 'Operation SHIELD' in 21 containment zones in the state. The announcement was made by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Operation SHIELD:
♦ Operation SHIELD aims to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
♦ People who are living in containment areas have been directed to cooperate in implementing Operation SHIELD.
♦ S-Sealing of area
The government sealed the area immediately and its surroundings after geographical marking following positive cases there.
♦ H-Home quarantine
As a second move of the operation, people in the sealed areas will be kept under Home quarantine.
♦ I-Isolation of infected patients
The Delhi government will isolate the COVID-19 infected people and keep them monitored at the isolation centre
♦ E-Essential services ensured
Under the operation, the government ensures the home-delivery of essential items.
♦ L-Local sanitization
In this fifth step, the government will sanitize the select areas by the local authorities
♦ D- Door to door survey
♦ In the last step, the government will check door-to-door houses to ascertain whether anybody in containment has a cough or any other symptoms of COVID-19.

Jharkhand Announces Distribution of Two Months' Ration Due to Coronavirus Lockdown
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said his government has decided to provide two months ration in advance to the beneficiaries of the public distribution system, as the country entered the second day of the lockdown to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
Around 90 per cent of the families in the state will benefit from this decision, he said.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray said the administration has launched an app — VeggiGo — for people to place order for essential commodities.
CM Adityanath Transfers Rs 611 Crore To MGNREGA Workers
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath transferred Rs 611 crore directly to the bank account of workers of the state under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The fund was transferred to 27.5 lakh labourers. The amount was pending dues of MGNREGA workers who get 100 days of work in a year under the law.
Govt Extends Interest Subsidy On Small Crop Loans Till May 31
Amid the lockdown to curb COVID-19, farmers will continue to get short-term loan of up to Rs 3 lakh at a subsidised interest rate of seven per cent, and prompt repayers will get it at four per cent as the government extended the subsidy to banks till May 31, 2020.
In a statement, the agriculture ministry said the interest subsidy has been extended to all crop loans of up to Rs 3 lakh given by banks which are due or will be due between March 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020.
Under the Interest Subvention Scheme, a subvention of two per cent per annum is provided for short-term crop loan of up to Rs 3,00,000 per farmer, provided the lending institutions make available short-term credit at the ground level at seven per cent per annum to farmers.

Government Approves Insurance Scheme For Health Workers Fighting COVID-19
The government approved the insurance scheme for health workers fighting the novel coronavirus. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on March 26, 2020 announced a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover per person for frontline health workers involved in managing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The announcement was part of a slew of measures announced by the finance minister under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan package.
It will provide an insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakh for ninety (90) days to a total of around 22.12 lakh public healthcare providers, including community health workers, who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by this. It will also include accidental loss of life on account of contracting COVID-19.

The government completed strategic sale of Kamarajar Port Ltd to Chennai Port Trust where it sold 74.49% stake for Rs 2,383 crore.
Department of investment and public asset management (DIPAM) completed strategic disinvestment of GOI stake of 66.67% in Kamarajar Port Ltd in favour of Chennai Port Trust at a consideration of Rs 2,383 crore.
UP CM Constitutes ''Team-11'' To Beat Corona
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set up "Team-11" comprising of as many inter-departmental committees to fight the coronavirus spread and its multi-lateral fallouts on multiple fronts ranging from ensuring medicare to victims to the supply of essentials and tackle long marches of jobless workers back home.
Each of the committees will be haded by a senior bureaucrat of the state while the the chief minister himself will be the head of the Team 11.

DPIIT Sets Up Control Room To Monitor The Supply Of EC goods
The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), that functions under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has set up a control room to monitor the supply of essential commodity goods on 26 March, 2020. The decision was made after the department had detailed discussions with states and e-commerce companies on the disruption of the supply of essential commodities. The moves come as the local administration and police stopping staff of e-commerce and other grocery retailers and thereby hindering supplies.
The control room will monitor the live status of transportation and delivery of goods, manufacturing, delivery of essential commodities.
It will also monitor the difficulties that are faced by various stakeholders during the lockdown period.
