Odisha CM Launches Host City Logo for FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the official host city logo of the state for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup India 2022.
Odisha is one of the three hosts for the World Cup, which is scheduled to be held between October 11-30 across Odisha, Goa and Maharashtra. This will be the first FIFA women's competition to be held in India and the first FIFA competition to be hosted by Odisha.

World number one Iga Swiatek scripted history when she beat Tunisia's Ons Jabeur 6-2 7-6(5) in the US Open final) to clinch her maiden trophy at Flushing Meadows and third Grand Slam crown. Poland's Swiatek fell on her back and covered her face with her hands after prevailing in the tight second set tiebreak, having sealed the win when the fifth seed's shot sailed long.
Australia Captain Aaron Finch Retires from ODI Cricket
Aaron Finch, Australia's captain announced his retirement from one-day international cricket after Australia's third and final ODI against New Zealand. Finch would continue to be the captain of the Australian cricket team for T20 and would lead it in defense of its world title in the T20 World Cup which is going to be held in October and November in Australia.
Finch is known as one of the most damaging opening batters in the world, Finch has scored 5,401 runs in the ODI format with an average of close to 40, and 17 centuries.

Deepak Punia out of World Championships
Wrestler Deepak Punia (86kg) was ruled out of the upcoming World Championships in Belgrade.
The 23-year-old from Haryana's Chhara village sustained an injury in his left hand. Punia had won silver at the 2019 World Championships in the 86kg category.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) conducted trials in the 86kg category and selected Sanjeet for the World Championships.
Ravi Dahiya who left for Russia and would join the squad in Serbia later.

Neeraj Chopra Scripts History, Becomes Diamond League Champion
Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra achieved yet another historic feat as he became the first Indian to win the prestigious Diamond League final title in Zurich, Switzerland.
Chopra began with a foul but jumped to the top spot with a throw of 88.44m -- his fourth career best -- in his second attempt, and that turned out to be his winning effort. He had 88.00m, 86.11m, 87.00m and 83.60m in his next four throws.
Olympic silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic finished second with a best throw of 86.94m which he registered in his fourth attempt. Julian Weber of Germany was third with a best of 83.73m.

PCA Renames Stands at Mohali Stadium after Home Grown Stars Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh
Cricket is set to return to the IS Bindra PCA International Stadium at Mohali on September 20, with the Punjab Cricket Association adding to the cheer by giving fans the option of witnessing the action up close and personal from stands renamed after two local legends of the game — Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh.
The Punjab Cricket Association renamed its famous Terrace Block after former Indian spinner and current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh — who has represented India in 103 Test, 236 ODI and 28 T20I and picked up a total of 711 wickets in all the three formats. The North Pavilion of the stadium, similarly, has been named after Yuvraj Singh, who played in 40 Test, 304 ODI and 58 T20I matches for India and scored 11,778 runs, besides claiming 148 wickets in all three formats.
61st Edition of Subroto Cup International Football Tournament
The 61st edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament began after a gap of two years, at the BR Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi marking the start of the most prestigious football tournament for schools all over the country. The tournament, organised by the Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society (SMSES) along with the Indian Air Force, kicked-off the first match in the Under-14 Boys category between National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Govt. Model HSS, Sector 36, Chandigarh which finished in a goalless draw.
A total of 92 schools representing 25 States and Union Territories of India have qualified across the three (U-14 Boys, U-17 Girls, U-17 Boys) categories and Air Force School, Bangladesh will also be competing in the tournament.

Suresh Raina Announces Retirement from all Forms of Cricket
Suresh Raina announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, including the Indian Premier League. Raina, who was an integral part of four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings, went unsold in the auction earlier in 2022.
The left-handed batter was a permanent fixture in the Indian team for many years and was part of the 2011 World Cup winning side as well. Raina has represented India in all three formats of the game, but his contributions to white-ball cricket stand out.
In 226 ODI matches for the nation, the left-handed batter scored 5615 runs at an average of 35.31 with his highest score being 116 not out. When it comes to T20Is, Raina played 78 matches and scored 1065 runs. He was also the first Indian player to score a century in the shortest format of the game.
Raina had retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020 - the same day when MS Dhoni announced his retirement as an India cricketer.
