Air India's New Software for Real - Time Reporting of in-flight Incidents

  • Air India said that it will use UK-headquartered Ideagen's enterprise cloud software application Coruson to help enhance safety management and facilitate real-time reporting of in-flight incidents.
  • The Tata group-owned airline's announcement came against the backdrop of at least three incidents of unruly passenger behaviour on two international flights last year, for which aviation regulator DGCA had imposed penalties on the carrier for certain reporting lapses.
  • Coruson, the safety data software application, will be online with effect from May 1, 2023 and will facilitate real-time reporting of in-flight incidents.
  • The Coruson will help Air India get complete visibility of the entire operation of its flights. This includes customer boarding, food served, rules followed, cabin crew activities, and all other sorts of activities that happen during the flight. With this, Air India can find where it is lagging and also solve issues quickly. The main objective is to keep the passengers safe and comfortable during the flight. This will help to boost the revenue of Air India.

Researchers Create Dandelion-Inspired Robot Controlled by Power of Light and Wind

  • The robot's design is inspired by the seed of dandelion, resembling several biomimetic features, i.e., high porosity, lightweight and separated vortex ring generation under a steady wind flow.
  • Superior to its natural counterparts, this artificial seed is equipped with a soft actuator.
  • The actuator is made of light-responsive liquid crystalline elastomer, which induces opening or closing actions of the bristles upon visible light excitation.
  • The tiny robot developed by Dr. Zeng and colleagues has several biomimetic features.
  • Because of its high porosity (0.95) and lightweight (1.2 mg) structure, it can easily float in the air directed by the wind.
  • The robot can be powered and controlled by a light source, such as a laser beam or LED.
