PM Modi Inaugurates Biotech Startup Expo - 2022 in New Delhi
PM Modi inaugurated the Biotech Startup Expo 2022 at New Delhi's Pragati Maidan organised by the Department of Biotechnology to celebrate 10 years of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), showcasing 75 successful startups supported by the agency. He also launched a Biotech products e-portal of 750 biotech products.
Speaking of India's bio-economy, the Prime Minister said that India have grown from $10 billion to $80 billion and we are not too far from reaching the league of top-10 countries in biotech's global ecosystem.
In the last eight years, the number of startups in our country increased from a few hundred to 70,000. These 70,000 startups are made in about 60 different industries. In this also, more than 5,000 startups are associated with biotech.
NHAI Sets New Guinness World Record, Lays 75-km Long Highway in 105 Hours
A new Guinness World Record was created by NHAI in laying 75 km of bituminous concrete in a single lane on NH53 in 105 hours and 33 minutes. Commemorating 75 years of India's independence and under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NHAI created a world record that was certified by the Guinness World Records.
Gadkari congratulated all the engineers, contractors, consultants, and workers from NHAI and Raj Path Infracon Pvt Ltd for the efficient implementation of the project that has helped in the successful completion of this world record. The project was implemented by 720 workers including a team of independent consultants who worked day and night to complete this task.

Presidential Election 2022 to be Held on 18 July
The election to choose the next President of India will be held on July 18 and the results will be announced on July 21, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced. The term of President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. Ram Nath Kovind had received over 65% votes in 2017. Electoral college for President's Election comprises 776 MPs and 4033 MLAs, Total 4809. President is elected by an Electoral College, which consists of the elected members of both Houses of Parliament and the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of all the States and Union Territories.
Commission directed to ensure the use of eco-friendly and biodegradable materials and eliminate the use of prohibited plastic/materials, as a part of its endeavor to make elections eco-friendly. Nomination can be filed either by the candidate himself or by any of his proposers or seconders between 11 am to 3 pm on the specified days.
International Aluminium Institute Elects Satish Pai as New Chairman
The International Aluminium Institute (IAI), the only body representing the global primary aluminium industry, announced the appointment of Satish Pai as its new Chair. He is the Managing Director of Hindalco Industries, one of the world's largest integrated producers of aluminium. Earlier serving as Vice Chairman, he succeeds Ben Kahrs, Chief Innovation Officer, Alcoa Corporation. An engineer by education and profession, Satish earlier worked with Schlumberger, based out of Paris, where he was responsible for Schlumberger's operations globally.
The IAI's purpose is to promote the sustainable development of the aluminium industry and to increase demand for aluminium products by raising awareness of their unique and valuable properties.

AAP Dissolves Gujarat State Unit to Form New Committees ahead of Assembly Polls
Two days after Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal held a Tiranga Yatra in Gujarat, the party dissolved all the state committees and frontal committees, except for the post of state president, keeping an eye on a major overhaul in the state unit ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
AAP Gujarat state president, Gopal Italia announced the party's decision in this regard in Ahmedabad and said that soon a bigger and new structure will be put in place keeping an eye on the upcoming Gujarat state assembly elections, likely to be held in December this year.
There were about 100 members in the state executive and hundreds of other members in frontal organisations like media cell, legal committee, women's cell, farmers wing, SC/ST cell and OBC cell, among others. Apart from the state executive, district and taluka committees have also been dissolved.

The Blue Duke butterfly is extensively found in Sikkim, Abor Hills and Nagaland.

The campaign titled "GHAR KE UPAR SOLAR IS SUPER" shall aim at mobilizing local government, citizens, RWAs, and Municipalities to spread awareness of Solar Rooftop.
Ministry is working towards achieving target of 500 GW of non-fossil by 2030. Rooftop solar will play major role and Tier-2 & Tier-3 cities offer maximum potential in achieving this target.
Delhi Govt. to Name Colonies & Streets after Babasaheb Ambedkar
Following the Central government's guideline advising against the usage of the word 'Harijan', the Delhi government is set to replace the word 'Harijan' from names of colonies & streets and name them after Babasaheb Ambedkar instead. In this vein, Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam tabled a proposal to rename all streets and colonies under Delhi Government titled as 'Harijan' after Dr. Ambedkar.
The Social Welfare Minister also chaired an important meeting in this regard with senior officials to expedite the process with officials from the concerned departments to act on the matter and issue a notification on the same. The Delhi Government strives to uplift the SC, ST, and OBC communities living in the national capital.
