Anurag Thakur Launches Logo, Mascot Jersey & Anthem of Khelo India University Games 2021
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur and Governor of Karnataka, TC Gehlot launched the logo, jersey, mascot and anthem of the Khelo India University Games 2021 (KIUG 2021), at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. The theme song has been composed by Kannada rapper Chandan Shetty. The KIUG 2021 will be held in Karnataka between April 24 and May 3, 2022.
This will be the second edition of KIUG. The first edition was hosted by Odisha in 2020. KIUG 2021 was postponed for 2022 due to the Covid crisis. A Khelo India App for live updates on the Games has also been launched by Karnataka. Around 4500 athletes, representing 20 sports from across the country will participate in the KIUG 2021.
Australia wins ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022
Australia beat England by 71 runs in the finals to claim their seventh Women's World Cup at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand. Alyssa Healy of Australia scored 170 runs in the match, the highest individual score made by any cricketer, male or female, in the World Cup Final. She was also the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 509 runs.
The Player of the Tournament went to Alyssa Healy. Sophie Ecclestone of England was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, with 21 dismissals. The 2022 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup was the 12th edition of the Women's Cricket World Cup. The tournament was held in New Zealand from 4 March to 3 April 2022.
Meghalaya would be Hosting 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022
Meghalaya is geared up to host the 83rd National Table Tennis Championship 2022, which will take place at the SAI Indoor Training Centre, NEHU in Shillong from April 18 to 25. This is the second time the Northeast has hosted the world's largest table tennis tournament. This tournament is being hosted in honour of the State's 50th anniversary of statehood. The cost of hosting the tournament is projected to be 1.5 crore rupees, with a total of 10 players from the State scheduled to compete.
The State is expecting around 650 people to attend, with 450 of them being players and the rest being coaches and support personnel. He went on to say that the state is expecting a variety of officers from several states, including Haryana's Deputy Chief Minister.

Manipur Govt. Signs MoU with Samsung and Abhitech to Set up Sports Digital Experience Centre
The Manipur state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung Data System India Pvt. Ltd. and Abhitech IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for setting up a world class 'Sports Digital Experience Centre' as a part of Manipur Olympian Park and at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
With the setting up of the Digital Experience Centre, various achievements of Olympians from Manipur will be digitally displayed making the public aware about their achievements. Achievements of other players will also be displayed at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Audi and Porsche to enter F1, get green light from Volkswagen
Audi and Porsche owner Volkswagen is likely to give the green light for the two brands to make their entry into motor racing's Formula One at a meeting next week. There has long been talk of Audi and Porsche forming partnerships with existing Formula One teams, their most likely method of entry into the highest class of international racing.
Audi will offer around 500 million euros ($556.30 million) for McLaren, one source said, while Porsche intends to establish a long-term partnership with racing team Red Bull starting in several years' time. Volkswagen has not previously been involved in Formula One but has worked with Red Bull, notably in the world rally championship.

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Re-elected as the President of Badminton Association of India
The incumbent president of the Badminton Association of India (BAI), Himanta Biswa Sarma was re-elected unopposed for a second four years term, from 2022 to 2026.
Badminton Association of India is the governing body of badminton in India. He was elected during the General Body Meeting of BAI in Guwahati on March 25, 2022. He is also the current Chief Minister of Assam. He was first elected as BAI chief in 2017. Apart from this, Sarma also serves as Vice President of Badminton Asia and a member of the Badminton World Federation Executive Council.
BAI is an association registered under the Society's act. It was formed in 1934 and has been holding national-level tournaments in India since 1936.
