Verizon Brings Commercially Available Private 5G Network in US
Verizon Business launched its first commercially available private 5G network in the US to offer businesses and government departments' high-speed indoor or outdoor connectivity.
Private 5G networks remove the need for businesses to jostle for speed with others on a public network and help enable data-intensive applications that use computer vision, augmented reality and machine learning to increase productivity.
Verizon has been trialing private 5G with several customers and has partnered with the likes of Microsoft and Amazon.
The private 5G network, managed by Verizon, would keep all cellular traffic on the premises of the customer to increase security, while authorised remote users can still access applications.

Nigerian Government Joins Koo
Less than a week after banning American microblogging site Twitter indefinitely, the Nigerian government has joined its India-made rival Koo. Shortly after the ban, Koo had announced that it was available in Nigeria and was working to add local languages on its platform.
Nigeria's decision to suspend Twitter in the country reportedly came as a result of the US-based social networking platform deleting a tweet by President Muhammadu Buhari for violating rules. The Nigerian government had alleged that the microblogging site was being used to undermine Nigeria's corporate existence through the spreading of fake news that has violent consequences.

Scientists Create Exotic Outer Space Ice
Researchers from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Oak Ridge National Laboratory successfully created amorphous ice, similar to ice in interstellar space and on icy worlds in our solar system. They documented that its disordered atomic behavior is unlike any ice on Earth.
The findings could help interpret data from future NASA missions such as Europa Clipper, which will assess the habitability of Jupiter's moon, Europa.
Using the Spallation Neutron Source's SNAP instrument, the scientists replicated the cold vacuum of space and added a few molecules at a time of heavy water to a plate cooled to 25 Kelvin to produce amorphous ice. They then used neutron scattering to observe the ice's structural changes at varying temperatures before it transitioned to crystalline ice.

SpaceX launches 22nd Resupply Services Mission to ISS
SpaceX has again launched its 22nd resupply services mission called SpaceX CRS 22, using cargo Dragon 2 capsule, to International Space station (ISS).
This is the second mission under new CRS contract of SpaceX with NASA and fifth capsule in last 12 months which SpaceX sent to ISS. The 22nd launch is also the first launch of 2021 on new Falcon 9 rocket booster. Falcon 9 Rocket launch vehicle is carried 7,300 pounds of research materials, supplies, hardware and new solar arrays. It is also carrying a number of research experiments which will be conducted on ISS. It carried a oral bacteria to test germ growth with Colgate toothpaste.

Scientists Develop Chip-Off Technique to Retrieve Encrypted Data
Forensic scientists at Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) have developed an indigenous chip-off technique which will help the investigative agencies in producing credible evidences against criminals in trial courts. This technique will also help in retrieving encrypted data from locked and severely damaged smart cell phones.
It was developed by scientists Akhlesh Kumar, Bhushan Ghode and Khevna Maniar.
Using the technique, scientists were able to retrieve data from a smart cell phone which were locked with finger prints of a person who died by suicide.
This technique is not successful on mobile device of higher Android or IOS versions including Apple iphones. Data are extracted from such mobile devices are found in an encrypted condition and methods of decryption are still under development. This technique can be used only if competent court grants permission.
