FC Goa, the only undefeated team in the Durand Cup going into the final, maintained their 100 percent record with a 1-0 win after extra-time over Mohammedan Sporting to be crowned champions of Asia's oldest Cup competition at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium.
The 2021 Durand Cup was the 130th edition of Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia. Like its previous edition, the tournament was hosted in West Bengal, instead of its traditional venue, Delhi. The tournament is jointly hosted by the Eastern Command of the Indian Armed Forces and the Government of West Bengal.

Babar Azam Surpasses Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli
Pakistan captain Babar Azam on Sunday (October 3) became the fastest batsman to complete 7,000 runs in the T20 format, surpassing the likes of Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli to reach the milestone. Babar achieved the feat during the National T20 Cup match between Southern Punjab and Central Punjab in Rawalpindi.
The Pakistan skipper reached the 7k mark in his 187th innings in the format, after crossing the 25-run mark during Central Punjab's chase of 120. Gayle had amassed 7,000 runs in T20 cricket in his 192nd innings while the Indian captain reached the mark in his 212th innings.
Professional Boxer Manny Pacquiao Announces Retirement from Boxing
After 26 years and 72 professional bouts, former world champion Manny Pacquiao announced his retirement from professional boxing. He made his professional debut in 1995 at age 16. He became the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes and is the only boxer to hold world championships across four different decades. He held the welterweight title as recently as 2019 at age 40.
India Wins Bronze at Asian TT Championships
The Indian men's table tennis team has won bronze medal at the Asian Table Tennis Championships.
Indian team won bronze after losing to South Korea by 0-3 in the semi-finals.
Team was assured of winning a medal after beating Iran by 3-1 in the quarter-finals.
Both the semi-finalists won a bronze medal.
Asian TT Championships is a biennial table tennis tournament and is regarded as continental championships by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The tournament was organized by the Table Tennis Federation of Asia (TTFA) from 1952 to 1972. Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) started its own Asian Championships because of conflict between national table tennis associations in Asia.

India's Star Drag-flicker Rupinder Pal Singh Quits International Hockey
Olympic bronze medal-winning Indian hockey player Rupinder Pal Singh announced his retirement from international hockey with immediate effect to make way for youngsters.
Rupinder, regarded as one of the best drag-flickers of the country, represented India in 223 matches.
Rupinder was an intergral part of the Indian hockey team that won bronze medal in the Tokyo Games this year, ending a 41-year-old medal drought for the eight-time Olympic champions.
IOC Announce Winter Olympics in Beijing Will Not Allow Foreign Spectators
As per IOC, a 21-day quarantine for non-fully vaccinated athletes, officials and workers will be in force at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Daily testing for vaccinated people and no tickets will be sold to anyone living outside China as Olympic venues open their doors again.
Restrictions imposed to control the COVID-19 pandemic at the next Winter Games in February were announced by the International Olympic Committee.
It will be the second straight Olympics during the pandemic where families of athletes cannot visit the host country to watch the events.

Archery World Cup Final: Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das Return Home Empty Handed
Star archery couple Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari lost their respective bronze medal matches as India returned empty-handed from the World Cup Final in Yankton, US. In the absence of an Indian recurve coach, the couple struggled under cold and overcast conditions.
Das lost a one-sided bronze playoff to reigning Olympic champion Mete Gazoz of Turkey 6-0 (27-29, 26-27, 28-30). He doubled up as Deepika's coach when the world number two lost in the shoot-off to Olympic team bronze-medallist Michelle Kroppen. Making her eighth WCF appearance, world number two Deepika mis-fired a six to lose 5-6 (6-9) in the shoot-off.

Rohit Sharma First to Score 1,000 runs against One Team in IPL (1)
Rohit Sharma became the first batter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to score 1000 runs against a single team during Mumbai Indians' (MI) contest against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. He achieved the feat in the fourth over of MI's innings. Rohit now has 1015 runs against KKR at an average of 46.13 and a strike rate of 132.16, including six fifties and one hundred.
World Chess Championship: India Beats France
India defeated France 3-1 in the fifth and final round, riding on wins from Bhakti Kulkarni and Mary Ann Gomes, to finish second in Pool A and qualify for the quarter-finals of the FIDE World Women's Team Chess Championship.
India will take on Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals.
