Centre to Identify Two Teachers in every Govt. School as Health and Wellness Ambassadors
The Centre launched an initiative under which two teachers in every government school will be identified as ''health and wellness ambassadors'' to spread awareness about the preventive health aspects.
The School Health Programme under Ayushman Bharat, which will be jointly run by the Union ministries of Health and Human Resources Development was launched by Union Health minister Harsh Vardhan, HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ''Nishank'' and Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
"The School Health Programme under Ayushman Bharat - Health and Wellness Centres shall foster the growth, development and educational achievement of school going children by promoting their health and well-being," Union Health minister Harsh Vardhan said as he rolled out of the joint initiative.
This initiative will further strengthen the concept of preventive, promotive and positive health, which forms the fundamental cornerstone of the health and wellness centres of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, he said.
This initiative will be effectively linked with other government initiatives such as Fit India movement, Eat Right campaign, Poshan Abhiyaan for an all-round and holistic development model of health for the school children, Vardhan said.
Egypt Reports Africa's First Case
Egypt confirmed its first case of a deadly coronavirus that emerged in central China at the end of last year and has since spread to more than two dozen countries around the world.
Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Mugahed said that the affected person was a foreigner who did not show any serious symptoms.
Officials were able to confirm the case through a follow-up programme implemented by the government for travellers arriving from countries where the virus has spread.
The development made Egypt the first country in the African continent to report a confirmed case, and the second in the Middle East region, after the United Arab Emirates late last month diagnosed its first cases.

IIM-Bangalore Announces Launch of an Advanced Management Programme for Family Businesses
Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has announced the launch of an advanced programme for family business owners.
IIMB has been offering the Management Programme for Entrepreneurs and Family Businesses (MPEFB) for over 13 years now. More than 400 family business owners, from diverse sectors, have completed past editions of the MPEFB. With the business environment growing in complexity, many family business owners have sought an advanced programme.
The Family Business Advanced Management (FAME) programme was conceived by IIMB to cater to this requirement. The goal of the programme is to equip the next generation of Indian family business owners with the skills and knowledge to power their organizations to the next level.
The programme has been designed by professors K. Kumar and Dalhia Mani, based on cutting-edge research, pedagogy and practical expertise.
The programme structure takes into account the busy schedule of family business owners and comprises 21 days of on-campus in modules spread over six calendar months. The participants conceive and implement a business challenge in their enterprise through the course of the programme, with mentoring from IIMB faculty.
Coronavirus Could Spread To Two-Thirds of the World Population
According to a top health official, the coronavirus epidemic could spread to roughly two-thirds of the world's population if the deadly bug is not controlled.
Most experts believe that each person infected can go on to transmit the coronavirus to about 2.5 other people, which would cause an attack rate of 60% to 80%. As per Professor Gabriel Leung, chair of Public Health Medicine at Hong Kong University, even with a general fatality rate as low as 1%, a possibility once milder cases are taken into account, there could still be a massive global death toll.

Two Indian Crew on Cruise ship off Japanese Coast Test Positive for Coronavirus
Two Indians, part of the crew of a cruise ship that is docked off the Japanese coast, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The Diamond Princess cruise ship with 3,711 people on board include 138 Indians including passengers and crew.
The ship was quarantined last week off the Japanese coast after a passenger who had de-boarded last month in Hong Kong was found to be the carrier of the virus on the ship.
Singing National Anthem Mandatory in Maharashtra Colleges
According to Cabinet Minister Uday Samant, singing the national anthem will be made compulsory in all colleges of Maharashtra from February 19.
The State government will issue a notification asking colleges to begin their work with the national anthem from February 19, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Last month, the Shiv Sena-led government made it compulsory for school students to read out the preamble of the Constitution during morning assemblies.

WHO Names Deadly Virus from China as 'COVID-19'
World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced that "COVID-19" is the official name of the deadly virus from China, saying that the disease represented a very grave threat for the world but there was a realistic chance of stopping it.
Tedros said that "co" stands for "corona", "vi" for "virus" and "d" for "disease", while "19" was for the year, as the outbreak was first identified on December 31, 2019.
Tedros said that the name had been chosen to avoid references to a specific geographical location, animal species or group of people in line with international recommendations for naming aimed at preventing stigmatisation.

UP government to start internship scheme for students
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday announced a slew of measures, including internship for students and hiring of girls in police, aimed at increasing employment in the state.
The students of class 10, 12 and those pursuing graduation will be linked to technical institutes for six months to a year. They will be given an honorarium of Rs 2,500 per month. Of this, Rs 1,500 will be given by the centre and the rest by the state.
"After the completion of the internship, the government will also arrange for the placement of such youth for which an human resources cell will be created,"
Haryana govt launched Reading Mission
To inculcate reading habit among students, the 'Reading Mission- Haryana' has been initiated by the state government.
As reading helps in developing social values of egalitarianism, tolerance, and justice, the 'Reading Mission- Haryana' has been started in the state.
The mission has been launched on the lines of the central government's 'Reading Mission 2022', which aims to address the lost glory of reading books.
Under the mission, book review sessions should be organised by students once a month in educational institutions.
Besides, a 45-minute mass reading programme should be held on the fourth Saturday of the month.
