Malaysia Day is held on 16 September every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963.
It commemorated with the union of the existing states of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore to form the federation of Malaysia; Singapore, however, was expelled from the federation less than two years later, on 9 August 1965.
Malaysia Forever was a song composed by Bobby Gimby to celebrate the Formation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963. Bobby Gimby received the nickname "The Pied Piper of Canada" after the Prime Minister nicked Gimby as "the Pied Piper from Canada". The song was recorded in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
International Day For The Preservation Of The Ozone Layer
September 16 was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.
This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. People also inhale large amounts of ozone on this day.
Doordarshan Completes 60 Years Of Existence
Doordarshan is celebrating its 60 years on September 16, 2019. The public broadcaster started its journey on this day in 1959 from Delhi.
Today, over 90 percent of Indian population receive DD programmes. Over the years, Doordarshan has grown into a network operating 34 satellite channels, besides providing free-to-air DTH service having 104 in its bookings.
UP: Children's Week To Be Observed At All Angan Wadi Centres
In Uttar Pradesh, children's week will be observed at all angan wadi centres across the state under the nutrition month campaign.
Poshan Abhiyaan is a mission with the vision to address malnutrition in children, adolescent girls and pregnant ladies.
On the first day of the children week, mamta divas is bring observed as part of bal suposhan utsav under which mothers will bring home made food to the angan wadi centres and all children will eat it in groups.
Second day of the week will be Suposhan goonj which will include functions like march past and taking pledge of giving proper food to children and ladies.
Other programs like cleanliness drive and awareness campaigns are also included in the week long schedule from 16 to 21 September, 2019.
52nd Engineers' Day observed
Institution of Engineers (India) Manipur State Centre observed its 52nd Engineers' Day at Manipur Trade & Expo centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong Imphal with "Engineering for change" as the theme.
The observation was held in commemoration of 159th birthday of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

Engineer's Day
Sir Mokshagondam Visweswarayya, popularly known as Sir MV was an Indian civil engineer and statesman and the 19th Diwan of Mysore, who served from 1912 to 1919.
In 1955, he was conferred India's highest honour, the Bharat Ratna. He was knighted as a Knight Commander of the British Indian Empire (KCIE) by King George V for his contributions to the public good in 1915.
15 September is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India, Sri Lanka and Tanzania in his memory. He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India.
He was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of Krishna Raja Sagara dam in North-West suburb of Mysuru city and chief engineer of flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad.
International Day of Democracy
In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly resolved to observe 15 September as the International Day of Democracy—with the purpose of promoting and upholding the principles of democracy—and invited all member states and organizations to commemorate the day in an appropriate manner that contributes to raising public awareness.
The 2019 theme for democracy day was "participation".
This year's International Day of Democracy (2019) is an opportunity to recall that democracy is about people.
Democracy is built on inclusion, equal treatment and participation — and it is a fundamental building block for peace, sustainable development and human rights.

BJP Launches Seva Saptah To Mark Birthday Of PM Narendra Modi
BJP President and Home Minister Amit Shah launched a week-long programme 'Seva Saptah' to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17th September.
He launched the campaign by joining cleanliness drive and distributing fruits among the patients at AIIMS in Delhi.
During the week-long programme, BJP leaders and workers will organize blood donation and health camps and also visit hospitals and orphanages to provide help and relief to patients. Party MPs, MLAs and other representatives will join the events in different parts of the country.
Three pledges will also be administrated among the people related to Swachata Abhiyan, save water and shunning single use plastic.
Exhibitions on Prime Minister Modi's life journey and service works will also be organized.

World First Aid Day 2019: Theme
According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) the theme of World First Aid Day 2019 is "First Aid and Excluded People".
Its main aim is to raise awareness of how first aid can prevent injuries and save lives everyday and in crisis situation. It also promotes the accessibility of the first aid.
World First Aid Day: History
In 2000, World First Aid Day was started by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
More than 100 Red Cross and Red Crescent Society people are made aware of the benefits of first aid in the world. Also, it raises awareness about the need of first aid and the right way to use it.
Hindi Divas
Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14 September, to commemorate the adoption of Hindi written in Devanagari script as one of the two official languages of the Republic of India by Constituent Assembly of India .
To this end, several people rallied and lobbied pan-India in favor of Hindi, Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt and Seth Govind Das. As such, on the 50th birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha on 14 September 1949, the efforts came to fruition following adoption of Hindi as an official language.
This decision was ratified by the Constitution of India that came into effect on 26 January 1950. Under the Article 343 of the Indian Constitution, Hindi written in Devanagari script was adopted as the official language.
In all, there are 22 Scheduled languages of India, of which, two are officially used at Union government of India level: Hindi and English. Hindi is spoken by 250 million people as the original language and it is the fourth language of the world.

International Day For South-South Cooperation On 12 September
South-South cooperation is a broad framework where the South Countries have collaborated in various domains including political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and technical domains.
The day celebrates the political, social and economical developments made by regions and countries in the south in recent years.
Aim:
South-South Cooperation works towards achieving the internationally agreed development goals, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
It aims to boost the progress towards implementing the SDGs. It raises the awareness of the efforts taken by the United Nation to work on technical cooperation among developing countries.
Theme:
The theme for the 2019 South-South Cooperation is From Commitment to Action — Follow up to Buenos Aires Plan of Action+40.
It is a follow up to the Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40) which was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 20-22 March 2019.
The theme focuses on implementing the commitments adopted in the summit.

World Suicide Prevention Day 2019
Every year on 10th september, World suicide prevention day is observed. According to WHO, in five years since the publication of WHO's first global report on suicide, in several countries strategies for suicide prevention is increased.
Further, Director General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that "Despite progress, one person still dies every 40 seconds from suicide".
"Every death is a tragedy for family, friends and colleagues. Yet suicides are preventable. We call on all countries to incorporate proven suicide prevention strategies into national health and education programmes in a sustainable way."
World Suicide Prevention Day 2019 theme is "Working Together To Prevent Suicide" to highlight the most essential ingredient for effective global suicide prevention.
This day is observed internationally to encourage people to join in the event together to spread awareness about suicide prevention.
11 September - Patriot Day
In the United States, Patriot Day occurs on September 11 of each year in memory of the people killed in the September 11 attacks of the year 2001.
A bill to make September 11 a national day of mourning was introduced in the U.S. House on October 25, 2001, by Rep. Vito Fossella (R-NY) with 22 co-sponsors, among them- 11 Democrats and 11 Republicans.
The bill requested that the President designate September 11 of each year as Patriot Day.
On September 4, 2002, President Bush used the authority of the resolution to proclaim September 11, 2002, as the first Patriot Day.
