International Day For The Total Elimination Of Nuclear Weapons

The General Assembly commemorates 26 September as the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
The General Assembly declared the International Day for Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons in December 2013, in its resolution 68/32 as a follow-up to the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on nuclear disarmament held on 26 September 2013, in New York.
The International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons has been observed annually since 2014.
Pursuant to the resolutions of the General Assembly, Member States, the United Nations system and civil society, including non-governmental organizations, academia, parliamentarians, the mass media and individuals are encouraged to commemorate and promote the International Day through enhancing public awareness and education about the threat posed to humanity by nuclear weapons and the necessity for their total elimination.
To observe the International Day, the United Nations is supporting events both in New York and Geneva.
United Nations Information Centres around the world are encouraged to raise awareness to the observance of International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

President of India Inaugurates Seminar Of Spirituality For Human And Social Development

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated a seminar on 'Spirituality for Human and Social Development' on September 26, 2019 in New Delhi.
This seminar was organised by the Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The President said that Mahatma Gandhi had understood very well that emphasis on spiritual values is essential for establishment of peace and non-violence in the world. He made it clear that the upliftment of human society is only possible on the foundation of truth, non-violence, peace and harmony. These thoughts of Gandhiji are relevant even today, and will remain relevant in future as well.

Google Celebrates Its 21st Birthday With a Doodle

Search engine giant Google is celebrating its 21st birthday with a doodle.
Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in 1998 and it operates in 40 countries and has 70 offices across the globe.
The domain name for Google was registered on September 15, 1997, and the company was incorporated on September 4, 1998.

World Maritime Day

World Maritime Day is observed every year on September 26 to celebrate the maritime industry's contribution towards the global economy.
World Maritime Day 2019 emphasizes on the importance of maritime security, marine environment and shipping safety.

European Day of Languages

The European Day of Languages is celebrated every year on 26th September. Now in its seventeenth year, the European Day of Languages was first officially celebrated in 2002 following the success of the European Year of Languages in 2001.
The day is organised jointly by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
Europe is lucky to enjoy a rich diversity of language and cultures with 200 European languages, 24 Official EU languages around 60 regional or minority languages.
These figures are not including languages spoken by people from elsewhere within the world who have migrated to live within the EU which enrich the diversity of languages spoken still further.

World Contraception Day - 26 September 2016

World Contraception Day is observed every year on September 26. Promotion of family planning – and ensuring access to preferred contraceptive methods for women and couples – is essential to securing the well-being and autonomy of women, while supporting the health and development of communities.
Allowing women to choose whether, when, and how many children to have achieves progress on global health goals. It also helps break the cycle of poverty, and puts families, communities, and countries on a stronger, more prosperous and sustainable path.

President Kovind Inaugurated 6th India Water Week

The 6th India Water Week -2019 was inaugurated by the President Shri Ram Nath Kovind in Delhi on 24th September.
The week is being organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. It is being organized since 2012. It is an international event to focus on water-related issues. So far, 5 editions of India Water Week have been organized.
The theme of the 6th India Water Week -2019 is Water cooperation: Coping with 21st Century Challenges.
On this regard, India has signed and strengthened its international cooperation with 14 countries including Israel, Canada, Japan, Germany, and the UK.

64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference 2019 at Uganda

The annual meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is taking place in Kampala, Uganda and is hosted by the Parliament of Uganda.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference is one of the largest gatherings of Commonwealth parliamentarians and is a unique and valuable opportunity to network with legislators for shared-learning and to build diplomatic relations.
CPC will this year (in 2019) include the landmark 30th Anniversary Conference of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) as well as the election of the new Chairperson of CWP.
The theme of this year's conference is 'Adaption, engagement and evolution of Parliaments in a rapidly changing Commonwealth'

National Conclave on Enhancing Energy Efficiency in MSME Sector Organised By BEE In New Delhi

The conclave on 'Enhancing Energy Efficiency in MSME sector' was organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
The two-day conclave discussed strategies to promote energy efficiency while discussing issues such as technical and financial capabilities of MSMEs, capacity building and awareness programme.
There is a need to reduce logistics, capital and power cost to make Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) competitive in the international markets and to promote exports, said Nitin Gadkari, Minister for MSME.

International Day of Sign Languages Awards

International Day of Sign Languages was observed. The objective of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf.
Sign languages are fully-fledged natural languages, structurally distinct from the spoken languages.
On this day, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot attended the special function held to celebrate sign language day in New Delhi.
He distributed awards to the winners of the Second Indian Sign Language Competition 2019.

International Day of Sign Languages -23 September

According to the World Federation of the Deaf, there are approximately 72 million deaf people worldwide.
More than 80% of them live in developing countries. Collectively, they use more than 300 different sign languages.
The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities recognizes and promotes the use of sign languages.
It makes clear that sign languages are equal in status to spoken languages and obligates states parties to facilitate the learning of sign language and promote the linguistic identity of the deaf community.
The UN General Assembly has proclaimed 23 September as the International Day of Sign Languages in order to raise awareness of the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf.
The over-arching theme of IDSL 2019 is "Sign Language Rights for All!"
IDSL corresponds with International Week of the Deaf, and each day of the week has a sub-theme:
Monday, 23 September, 2019 - Sign Language Rights for All!
Tuesday, 24 September, 2019 - Sign Language Rights for All Children
Wednesday, 25 September, 2019 - Sign Language Rights for Deaf Senior Citizens
Thursday, 26 September, 2019 - Sign Language Rights for Deaf-Blind People and Deaf People With Disabilities.
Friday, 27 September, 2019 - Sign Language Rights for Deaf Women

Trump At Howdy Modi: Securing Border, Fight Against Islamic Terror Common Concerns Of US, India

US President Donald Trump addressed the Indian-American community at 'Howdy Modi' event in Houstan.
"Today we honour all of the brave American and Indian military service members who work together to safeguard our freedom. We are committed to protecting innocent civilians from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism", said Trump on terror.
"Border security is important to us, border security is important to India. I understand that", said US President Donald Trump.
He described PM Modi as America's greatest, most loyal friend, said that he is doing exceptional job for India.
