World Cotton Day �" 7 October 2019

Union Minister of Textiles, Smriti Irani will participate in the plenary session of World Cotton Day being observed from October 7-11, 2019 in Geneva, which will also serve to shed light on the challenges faced by cotton economies around the world.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is organizing World Cotton Day event in collaboration with the Secretariats of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).

World Habitat Day- 7 October

The United Nations designated the first Monday of October of every year as World Habitat Day to reflect on the state of our towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter.
The Day is also intended to remind the world that we all have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of our cities and towns.

German-American Day

German-American Day is a holiday in the United States, observed annually on October 6. It celebrates German-American heritage and commemorates the landing of 13 German families in Philadelphia in 1683.
The first German settlement in the original thirteen American colonies organized the first petition in the English colonies to abolish slavery in 1688.

On the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhiji, the 5th World Parliament of Science, Religion and Philosophy 2019, was inaugurated by world-renowned philanthropist, poet, Sanskrit Scholar and former Union minister Padma Bhushan Dr. Karan Singh and Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad – UNESCO Chair Holder; Founder, MIT World Peace University, Pune.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the world's largest dome philosopher Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara World Peace Prayer Hall, Loni Kalbhor, Pune, India.
The three-day event will have eight plenary sessions with the theme of 'Role of Science, Religion and Philosophy for World Peace and well-being of Mankind' from 2nd to 4th October 2019.
Philosopher Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara World Peace Prize was awarded to Padma Bhushan Dr. Karan Singh. Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, Former Speaker, Lok Sabha conferred the Vishwa-Vigyan-Darshanik Award to Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad.

Wild Life Week in India

Wildlife Week is celebrated all over the country in the month of October from 2nd to 8th October every year with the view to preserve the fauna- means the animal life of India.
It was first started in the year 1952 with the great vision of saving the life of the Indian animals by taking some critical steps. It involves the planning to save animal extinction of any species of India.
The Indian Government has established an Indian Board of Wild Life which works to improve the awareness as well as the consciousness of the Indian people towards the wildlife preservation.

Goa Maritime Conclave- 2019 Inaugurated

The Goa Maritime Conclave (GMC)-2019 was inaugurated by the National Security Advisor, Shri Ajit Kumar Doval, at Goa on 4th October, 2019.
Inaugurating the conclave, which was conducted by the Naval War College, the NSA, during his key note address brought out that the Sea, Cyber, Space are areas which would pose both opportunities and challenges for the future and hoped that engagements during the GMC would help build up on the opportunities and overcome challenges.
The 31st edition of the Naval War College Journal was also released by the NSA on the occasion.
The theme for the conclave is "Common Maritime Priorities in IOR and need for Regional Maritime Strategy".

World Teachers' Day

World Teachers' Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is an international day held annually on October 5. Established in 1994, it commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which is a standard-setting instrument that addresses the status and situations of teachers around the world.
This recommendation outlines standards relating to education personnel policy, recruitment, and initial training as well as the continuing education of teachers, their employment, and working conditions.
World Teachers' Day aims to focus on "appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world" and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.
The theme for the 2019 edition of World Teachers' Day is 'Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession'.

World Animal Day

World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated annually on October 4, the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
The mission of World Animal Day, is to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe.
Building the celebration of World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals.
It's celebrated in different ways in every country, irrespective of nationality, religion, faith or political ideology.
Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare.

World Space Week

World Space Week, October 4-10 annually, is the largest space event on Earth. More than 5,000 events in over 80 countries celebrated the theme "Space Unites the World" in 2018.
The 2019 theme is "The Moon: Gateway to the Stars."
The General Assembly declares 4 to 10 October World Space Week to celebrate each year at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.

German Unity Day

The German Unity Day is the National Day of Germany, celebrated on 3 October as a public holiday.
It commemorates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990 when the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) were unified, so that for the first time since 1945 there existed a single German state.
Therefore, the name addresses neither the re-union nor the union, but the unity of Germany. The German Unity Day on 3 October has been the German National Holiday since 1990, when the reunification was formally completed.

Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti 2019

India celebrated a day that holds immense historical significance for the entire country as it marks the birth anniversaries of Mahatama Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Born on 2 October, 1904, as Munshi Lal Bahadur Shastri, he was the second Prime Minister of India.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other top political leaders across the spectrum paid their tributes to the former Prime Minister at Vijay Ghat.
