National Exascale Day

On October 18, National Exascale Day celebrates the scientists and researchers who make breakthrough discoveries in medicine, materials sciences, energy and beyond with the help of some of the fastest supercomputers in the world.

National No Beard Day

Annually, National No Beard Day on October 18th celebrates the cleanshaven among us. The smoother the face, the bigger the celebration.
Whether one has had your beard for years or it is relatively new for him, this is the day to shave it off and go smooth. No Beard Day is the day to see what one looks like without it.

National Mammography Day

Every year on the third Friday in October (18 October, 2019) National Mammography Day joins in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This day serves as a reminder to all women that the best defense is early detection. A mammogram can often detect a problem before there is any outward physical sign.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States according to the CDC.

National Chocolate Cupcake Day

National Chocolate Cupcake Day on October 18th annually celebrates the sweetness of small chocolate cakes. With a dollop of frosting, one sweet serving satisfying chocolate and dessert lovers.
Cupcakes can be traced back to 1796 when a recipe notation of "a cake to be baked in small cups" was written in American Cookery, by Amelia Simmons.
The earliest known documentation of the term cupcake was in 1828 in Seventy-five Receipts for Pastry, Cakes, and Sweetmeats in Eliza Leslie's Receipts cookbook.

October 15 - World Maths Day

October 15 is celebrated as World Maths Day. The day comes with an interesting approach towards mathematics, instead of the usual formulas.
On this day, students are given an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of mathematics by participating in math-themed competitions, quizzes and games rather than understanding the boring theoretical mathematics and classroom courses.

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2019

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is celebrated across the globe every year on 17 October to raise awareness about the people who are struggling and living in poverty. It is necessary to remove poverty mainly in developing countries.
Theme for the year 2019 is "Acting together to empower children, their families and communities to end poverty".

SEPC Launches India IP Guide At Cannes In MIPCOM 2019

Services Exports Promotion Council (SEPC), set-up by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has brought out the India Intellectual Property (IP) Guide at Cannes in MIPCOM 2019, being held from 14-17, October 2019, for the Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry.
The guide features a catalogue of over 60 Indian IPs, popular in over 160 countries. It comprehensively breaks the narrative of only low-end work being done in India.
Sangeeta Godbole, Director General, SEPC informed that some of the top renowned Indian Media and Entertainment companies are present at MIPCOM.
Exhibition space has been increased over last year and 15 media and companies are participating for the first-time through the SEPC delegation at the India Pavilion.

Textiles Secretary Inaugurates IHGF-Delhi Fair

Textiles Secretary, Ravi Capoor, inaugurated the 48th edition of the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF) at the India Expo Centre & Mart at Greater Noida.
Overseasbuyers from 110 countries are in India to source home, lifestyle, fashion, furniture and textile products from around 3200 Indian exhibitors who are participating in the Fair that will be on from 16 – 20 October 2019.
Theme of IHGF-Delhi Fair was Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

World Food Day

World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world on 16 October in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945.
The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with food security, including the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
The theme of World Food Day 2019 is "Our Actions Are Our Future. Healthy Diets for A #ZeroHunger World".
It focuses on tackling global hunger. Due to globalisation, urbanisation and income growth, our diets and eating habits are changed.
Instead of seasonal, fibre rich food and plant based food we are shifted to refined, starches, sugar, fats, salt, processed food, meat, etc.

Global Handwashing Day

Global Handwashing Day (GHD) is an international campaign to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve their handwashing habits. Washing hands at critical points during the day and washing with soap are both important.
Global Handwashing Day occurs on 15 October of each year. The global campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of handwashing with soap as a key factor in disease prevention. Respiratory and intestinal diseases can be reduced by 25-50%.

White Cane Safety Day

White Cane Safety Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964.
The date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.
On October 6, 1964, a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress, H.R. 753, was signed into law as Pub.L. 88–628, and codified at 36 U.S.C. § 142. This resolution authorized the President of the United States to proclaim October 15 of each year as "White Cane Safety Day".
President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the first White Cane Safety Day proclamation within hours of the passage of the joint resolution.
In 2011, White Cane Safety Day was also named Blind Americans Equality Day by President Barack Obama.

World Students' Day

World Students' Day is marked as the birthday of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. It is observed on Kalam's birthday, 15 October.
In 2010 the United Nations declared 15 October as "World Students' Day".

The third India Energy Forum by CERAWeek has been organised in association with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas from October 13 to 15, 2019.
The Summit, gives a platform to examine the fundamental challenges and opportunities to provide sustainable, secure and affordable energy choices to the people of India.

IICTF 2019 Organised From 11 To 13 October In New Delhi

India International Cooperative Trade Fair 2019 was organised in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan between 11 and 13 October, 2019.
More than 150 cooperative organisations and representatives from around 35 countries participated in the Fair.
This would enhance the role of small peasants and cooperative organisations in export. This was a boost for small and marginalised farmers and cooperative organizations.
The Government maintains that the small farmers and cooperative organisations play vital role in achieving the goal of doubling export in agriculture sector by 2022.

World Standards Day

World Standards Day (or International Standards Day) is celebrated internationally each year on 14 October.
The day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
The aim of World Standards Day is to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy.
14 October was specifically chosen to mark the date, in 1946, when delegates from 25 countries first gathered in London and decided to create an international organization focused on facilitating standardization.
Even though ISO was formed one year later, it wasn't until 1970 that the first World Standards Day was celebrated.
