International Stuttering Awareness Day

October 22 was designated International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD) in 1998. The day is intended to raise public awareness of the millions of people – one percent of the world's population – who have the speech disorder of stuttering.
ISAD is organised by three organizations:

European League of Stuttering Associations
International Fluency Association
International Stuttering Association

National Nut Day - October 22, 2019

National Nut Day is celebrated annually on October 22 throughout the world. Liberation Foods Company — the UK's only Fair Trade, farmer-owned nut company — created the day to raise awareness of Fair Trade nuts and encourage the public to include nuts as part of a healthy diet.

World Iodine Deficiency Day 2019

World Iodine Deficiency Day is also known as Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) Prevention Day.
Minerals and vitamins are necessary for our healthy life and play a crucial role in the physical and mental development of humans.
Iodine is a mineral that is found in some foods.
World Iodine Deficiency Day is observed on 21 October every year to raise awareness about the adequate use of iodine, to highlight the factors that lead to iodine deficiency and its consequences.

Police Commemoration Day 2019

National Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 to remember the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties. Rich tributes are paid to the martyrs on this day.
On Police Commemoration Day 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people to visit the National Police Museum and salute police forces and their families.
On October 21, 1959, twenty Indian soldiers were attacked by the Chinese troops in Ladakh
This altercation between the troops led to the death of ten policemen. Seven of the others were also imprisoned and managed to escape from the Chinese troops.
On November 28, 1959, the Chinese troops handed over the dead bodies of the martyred policemen to India. Their cremation was held with full Police honours at the Hot springs in Ladakh.
Ever since the incident, October 21 is celebrated as Police Commemoration Day in remembrance of the martyrs.

World Statistics Day 2020

World Statistics Day is to be observed on 20 October 2020. The day aims to show that good data and statistics are indispensable for informed decision-making by all actors in society.
The United Nations celebrates the event every five years. The day was instituted by the United Nations in 2010.
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) passed the resolution on 3 June 2015. It was first celebrated on 20 October 2010. In 2010, 103 countries, 51 African countries, celebrated a national Statistics Day.
On 15 October 2015, the second World Statistics Day was celebrated. The theme of the 2015 World Statistics Day was Better Data, Better lives.

International Day of the Nacho

October 21 is International Day of the Nacho that is celebrated annually in the USA and Mexico. This popular snack has a Mexican origin, but it's loved all over the world.
Nachos appeared in Pierdras Negras, Mexico, in 1943. The story says that several army soldiers wives went shopping. But when they finally stopped for dinner, all restaurants were closed. Ignacio "Nacho"

National Check Your Meds Day - October 21, 2019

National Check Your Meds Day, observed every October 21 and sponsored by the National Community Pharmacists Association, prompts consumers to bring their prescriptions to their local pharmacists for review.
Pharmacists can remove any prescriptions that have expired, update prescriptions as necessary, and answer consumer questions. If nothing else, it's a rare chance for consumers to get free medical advice.

National Reptile Day

Each year on October 21st, people across the nation observe National Reptile Awareness Day.
Reptile Awareness Day was created by a group of reptile enthusiasts intent on changing the public image of their beloved scaly friends.
Since then R.A.D. has been a popular event for the herpetologically inclined to gather and share their love of the cold-blooded critters that share their lives. From the magnificent Bearded Dragon, playful Gecko's, Turtles, and the huge but cuddly Forest Boa, reptiles are increasingly popular pets the world around.

Apple Day

Apple Day is a holiday which is celebrated on October 21st each year and is a celebration of all things concerning apples and orchards. While it has traditionally been celebrated in the United Kingdom, people all over the world are beginning to catch on to this fun holiday.
The first Apple Day was held on October 21st, 1990 at an event in Covent Garden, London in the U.K. While this initial event was quite small, over the years, more and more people began to attend them until there were almost 700 events in the U.K by the year 2000.
This day was created to recognize that apples are unique to their orchards and that orchard diversity is very important.

National Solidarity Day - 20 October

October 20 has come to acquire a special significance for us all. It was on this date that our northern neighbour, whom we had treated as a friend, launched an attack on our borders. During the weeks that followed this fateful day, the world witnessed a most heart-warming demonstration of the basic unity and solidarity of the Indian people.
The observance of National Solidarity Day is an annual reminder of this fundamental unity. On this day, the thoughts of the whole nation turn to our Armed Forces who gallantly guard our extensive borders and who have, throughout history, been famous for their courage and stamina.
The Sino-Indian War, also known as the Indo-China War and Sino-Indian Border Conflict, was a war between China and India that occurred in 1962.
A disputed Himalayan border was the main pretext for war, but other issues played a role. There had been a series of violent border incidents after the 1959 Tibetan uprising, when India had granted asylum to the Dalai Lama.
India initiated a Forward Policy in which it placed outposts along the border, including several north of the McMahon Line, the eastern portion of the Line of Actual Control proclaimed by Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in 1959.

International Sloth Day

International Sloth Day was created in 2010 by the AIUNAU Foundation, a non-profit conservation and wildlife organization based in Colombia. The day gives awareness about the life cycle and natural habitat of the Sloth.
The day also calls on people to learn more about these native South and Central American animals. International Sloth Day was created by AIUNAU, a non-profit foundation dedicated to protecting all forms of wildlife.
The AIUNAU members in Columbia have been working with sloths since 1996, as they became appalled to find out how many sloths every year were being killed by cars or power lines, and how many other were being captured to be made into household pets.

President Of India Addresses India-Philippines Business Conclave And 4th Asean-India Business Summit

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, addressed the India-Philippines Business Conclave and the 4th ASEAN-India Business Summit in Manila, Philippines on October 19, 2019.
The President said that the potential for the Philippines-India economic collaboration is significant.
Both countries share mutual complementarities which can be utilised to deepen trade and investment ties.
He said that India's "Make in India" and next-generation infrastructure programmes and the Philippines' "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure initiative present immense opportunities for companies and investors on both sides.

National Day on Writing - October 20, 2019

The National Day on Writing (October 20), an initiative of the National Council of Teachers of English, is built on the premise that writing is critical to literacy but needs greater attention and celebration.
Every year NCTE and enthusiastic participants around the world continue to grow this event.

World Osteoporosis Day

World Osteoporosis Day is observed annually on October 20th, and launches a year-long campaign dedicated to raising global awareness of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.

Sweetest Day is a holiday that is celebrated in the Midwestern United States, and parts of the Northeastern United States, also in the northern part of Florida on the third Saturday in October (19 October, 20019). It is a day to share romantic deeds or expressions, and acts of charity and kindness.
Sweetest Day has also been referred to as a "Hallmark holiday" or a "concocted promotion" created by the candy industry solely to increase sales of sweets.

National Chocolate Cupcake Day

October 15 - World Maths Day

October 15 is celebrated as World Maths Day. The day comes with an interesting approach towards mathematics, instead of the usual formulas.
On this day, students are given an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of mathematics by participating in math-themed competitions, quizzes and games rather than understanding the boring theoretical mathematics and classroom courses.
