World Philosophy Day

Philosophy is the study of the nature of reality and existence, of what is possible to know, and of right and wrong behavior.
It comes from the Greek word phílosophía, meaning 'the love of wisdom.' It is one of the most important fields of human thought as it aspires to get at the very meaning of life.
World Philosophy Day was introduced in 2002 by UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)
In 2005 the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed that World Philosophy Day would be celebrated every third Thursday of November (November 21, 2019).
2019 observance
The 2019 edition aims to highlight the importance of philosophy in different regional contexts.
The goal is to obtain regional contributions to global debates on contemporary challenges that support social transformations.
The purpose of this approach is to foster regional dynamics, stimulating global collaboration to address major challenges such as migration, radicalization, environmental change, or artificial intelligence.

BEE Conducts International Workshop on EV Charging Infrastructure

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in association with the International Energy Agency (IEA) organised an international workshop on 'Policy Framework to deploy Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure.
The day-long workshop was part of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) framework.
The workshop featured highly insightful sessions that deliberated on best international practices, policies, regulatory framework, etc for stakeholders of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), service provider, state nodal agencies and policymakers to lay the foundation of future actions towards accelerated deployment of EV charging system in the country.
Abhay Bakre, Director General,Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), said the need of the hour was to create a well-planned, accessible and affordable charging infrastructure.

World Fisheries Day

World Fisheries Day is celebrated on 21 November every year. The day aims to highlight the importance of healthy ocean ecosystems.
It also ensures the sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world. Fishing communities celebrate the day by conduction events like public meetings, rallies, workshops, exhibitions, cultural dramas, and music shows.
A study by the United Nations reported that more than two-thirds of the world's fisheries have been overfished or are fully harvested. It also said that more than one third are in a state of decline because of factors such as the loss of essential fish habitats, pollution, and global warming.

UGC asks Higher Educational Institutions to Celebrate Constitution Day on Nov 26

University Grants Commission, UGC has issued circular to higher educational institutions to celebrate Constitution Day on 26th of November.
On this day in 1949, the Constitution was adopted which came into force on 26th January, 1950, marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India.
The commission has requested universities and affiliated colleges to make dedicated efforts to promote and spread awareness about the constitution and fundamental duties among their students, teachers, staff and officials.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat inaugurates IPEC at Nagpur

RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat inaugurated the International Principal's Education Conference (IPEC) at Nagpur.
Highlighting the importance of individual excellence in the education system Mr. Bhagwat said, striving for excellence holds the key for becoming successful in life.
He stressed that it is the responsibility of educational institutes to mould the students into fearless, confident human beings in true sense.
Super 30 founder and noted mathematician Anand Kumar was honored with Nachiketa Sarvottama Award on the occasion. Mr.Kumar said, Teaching is a noble profession and teacher is an important personality in everyone's life.
He dedicated this award to all the teachers who are working for the upliftment of underprivileged children.

World Television Day

The first World Television Forum was held in 1996. Following the forum a resolution was passed in the United Nations General Assembly in the month of December in 1996 by force of which 21st November was henceforth effectively organized as the World Television Day.
This was an acceptance of the vast reach and impact of geo-televisual communication on the present world scenario and hence World Television Day was adopted as yet another symbol of the power constituted in new media.

Rani Laxmi Bai Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Rani Laxmi Bai, the warrior queen of Jhansi, on her 191st birth anniversary.
In his tribute, PM Modi said that for millions of Indians, Rani Laxmi Bai "personifies courage and fearlessness".
Rani Laxmi Bai was born on November 19 in 1828 in Varanasi as Manikarnika Tambe. She married Maharaja of Jhansi Gangadharrao Newalkar.
Her fearlessness in the face of adversity and her struggle against the British is always inspiring for all Indians. In today's times, Rani Laxmi Bai has become an icon of resilience.

Indian Steel Association to Organise ISA - Steel Conclave 2019

The Indian Steel Association supported by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India is organising the second Edition of "ISA – Steel Conclave 2019" on 21st – 22nd November, 2019 at Hotel The LaLiT, New Delhi to deliberate on Indian and Global Perspectives of the Steel Industry.
Union Minister for Steel Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will be the Chief Guest at the Steel Conclave.
Minister of State for Steel Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste will also be present on the occasion.
The Conclave would feature discussions among the Senior Industry Leaders, Government and Consultants on the Innovations and Technology, Role of Steel in Construction & Design, Steel Exports, Capital Goods, Environmental Management and other Cutting-edge Issues.

Africa Industrialization Day

The 25th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) 1989, declared November 20 to be Africa Industrialization Day. It was first observed on November 20, 1990.
2019 Theme: Positioning African Industry to Supply the AfCFTA Market
This year, the celebration of the African Industrialization Day, "Positioning African Industry to supply the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Market," will raise awareness in the international community on the challenges and opportunities for Africa's industrialization within the framework of the newly created African Continental Free Trade Area.

Indira Gandhi's 102nd birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Indira Gandhi, India's first woman Prime Minister, on her 102nd birth anniversary in a tweet. "Tributes to our former PM Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary," PM Modi wrote on Twitter.
Born on this day in 1917 in Allahabad, now known as Prayagraj, Indira Gandhi was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, country's first Prime Minister.
She was the prime minister between 1966 and 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
She became a member of Rajya Sabha in August 1964 and served till February 1967. She was the member of Lok Sabha during fourth, fifth and sixth sessions.
Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own bodyguards at her official residence on October 31, 1984, months after she ordered Operation Bluestar, in which the army stormed the Golden Temple in Amritsar, one of the holiest Sikh shrines, to remove separatists hiding inside.
PM Modi had remembered Indira Gandhi, also known as 'Iron Lady', on her death anniversary in October 2019.

World Children's Day

World Children's Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare.
November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Mothers and fathers, teachers, nurses and doctors, government leaders, and civil society activists, religious and community elders, corporate moguls and media professionals, as well as young people and children themselves, can play an important part in making World Children's Day relevant for their societies, communities and nations.
World Children's Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children's rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for children.
2019 is extra special, marking the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Havana Celebrates 500 Years Of Foundation

Cuba's capital, Havana, is one of Latin America's architectural treasures, boasting a fascinating mix of colonial, Baroque and Art Deco styles.
Many of its jewels have suffered from decades of deterioration but, slowly, complex renovation works are bringing some of them back to life.
The city celebrated 500 years of its foundation on 16 November, 2019.

International Men's Day

The objectives of celebrating an International Men's Day, are set out in "The Six Pillars of International Men's Day", include focusing on men's and boys' health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, highlighting discrimination against men, and promoting male role models.

World Toilet Day

World Toilet Day is an official United Nations international observance day on 19 November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis.
Worldwide, 4.2 billion people live without "safely managed sanitation" and around 673 million people practise open defecation.

On November 18th, Mickey Mouse Birthday commemorates the debut of a lovable mouse that was once a rabbit called Oswald.
His character got his start on film on November 18, 1928, but before that, the story begins in 1927, when Walt Disney first sketched a floppy-eared bunny while under contract to Universal Studios. The events that unraveled brought us Mickey Mouse.
