Two day International Conference on Yoga for Heart care to be Organised at Mysuru, Karnataka

  •  Ministry of AYUSH is organizing the International Conference on Yoga on 15-16 November 2019 at  Mysuru, Karnataka.
  • The Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri B.S. Yediyurappa  will inaugurate the two day conference on 15th November, 2019 in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and Defence, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik. 
  • The theme of the conference is 'Yoga for Heart Care'. More than 700 national and international delegates are expected to participate in the conference spread over ten technical sessions involving fifty resource persons & experts.
  •   The Governor of Karnataka Shri Vajubhai Vala will be the Chief Guest at the valedictory function of the conference.
  • On the first day of the conference, technical sessions on 'Yoga for heart care; emerging trends and researches', 'role of Yoga in preventive cardiology', 'Role of Yoga in the management of Hypertension' and 'Yoga for coronary artery disease' will be delivered.
  • During the second day of the conference, technical session on 'physiology and integrative cardiology', 'Yoga for Cardiovascular health' will be organized.
  • A Symposium on 'need for promotion of Yogasana as sports' and presentation of research papers on 'Yoga for heart care; emerging trends and researches' will also be organised.

Godrej Locks to Commemorate 3rd Home Safety Day on 15th November

  •  Godrej Locks, a brand synonymous with trust, quality, and safety, will be commemorating 3rd Home Safety Day observed every year on 15 November.
  • Home Safety Day aims to encourage people to be protected against threats like robberies, burglaries, and thefts.
  • The company is all set to observe this day with newer initiatives to be announced.
  • In 2018, on Home Safety Day, Godrej Locks unveiled #HarGharSurakshit, India's biggest public awareness campaign to make citizens home safety conscious.

Children's Day

  •  Every year, on 14 November, India pays tribute to the first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru by celebrating his birth anniversary as Children's Day.
  • On this day, everyone reminisces him for his contribution towards building the nation and for his love for kids.
  • It was also because of his extra warmth towards the kids that people fondly remember him as 'Chacha Nehru'.
  • Before 1964, India celebrated Children's Day on 20 November, which is observed as the universal Children's Day by the United Nations.
  • But after his demise in 1964, it was unanimously decided to commemorate him on 'Bal Diwas' due to his love and affection towards children. 

World Diabetes Day

  •  World Diabetes Day, celebrated annually on 14 November,  is the world's largest diabetes awareness campaign and draws attention to issues of diabetes in order to keep diabetes firmly in the public and political spotlight.
  • The theme for diabetes awareness month and World Diabetes Day 2019 is Family and Diabetes.

'Ease Of Doing Business' To Be Theme Of 39th IITF 2019

  •  The 39th edition of India International Trade Fair 2019 which will be commencing from 14th November, 2019 will have 'Ease of Doing Business' as its theme.
  • The trade fair will be inaugurated by Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Nitin Gadkari.
  • This year's theme has been inspired by India's achievement of rising up to 63rd rank on the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index from 142nd rank in 2014.
  • The Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Parkash will also be present during the inaugural function at Pragati Maidan in Delhi.

UK Observed The 101st Armistice Day On 11 November

  •  The UK observed the 101st Armistice Day since World War One. The day is to commemorate those who died in conflict. It is held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
  • The Royal British Legion called on the nation to put busy lives on pause, set aside differences, and remember those who risked their lives. Politicians marked the day by offering pledges to improve the lives of UK service personnel and their families. 
  • A remembrance service was held at the National War Memorial Cenotaph in Cardiff's Cathays Park. The tradition of a two-minute silence to remember the dead began exactly a year after the end of World War One.

World Pneumonia Day

  •  World Pneumonia Day provides an annual forum for the world to stand together and demand action in the fight against pneumonia.
  • More than 100 organizations representing the interests of children joined forces as the Global Coalition against Child Pneumonia to hold the first World Pneumonia Day on 2 November 2009.

Public Service Broadcasting Day Celebrated

  •  Public Service Broadcasting Day was celebrated on November 12, 2019. The day is celebrated every year to commemorate the first and last visit of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947.
  • The Father of the Nation addressed the displaced people, who had temporarily settled at Kurukshetra in Haryana after partition.
  • A function was also organized at the premises of All India Radio in New Delhi to mark the occasion. 

Dr Jitendra Singh addresses the inaugural session of India-ASEAN Business Summit

  •  The Union Minister of State (I/C) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that India will soon achieve the target of 5 trillion USD economy target with the optimistic environment that has been created under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

27th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (COCSSO)

  •  Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is organizing 27th Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (COCSSO) during 11-12th November 2019 at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, DG Block, Action Area 1, New Town, Kolkata.
  • The Conference will be inaugurated by Shri Pravin Srivastava, Chief Statistician of India cum Secretary, MoSPI on 11thNovember, 2019.
  • The Conference, a major national annual event, provides a platform for discussion and improved coordination between the Central and State Statistical agencies for enhancing the efficiency of the Indian Statistical System.
  • The theme of this year's Conference "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)"

Armistice Day (Remembrance Day)

  •  Armistice Day is observed on 11 November and is also known as Láemistice de la Premiere Guerre Mondiale in France. This day is observed in the commemoration of the end of World War I. Some countries also call it Remembrance Day. On 11 November 1918, an armistice was signed between the Allied Forces and Germany at Compiegne in northern France.

National Education Day 

  •  National Education Day is an annual observance in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India, who served from 15 August 1947 until 2 February 1958. National Education Day of India is celebrated on 11 November every year.
  • The Ministry of Human Resource Development announced on 11 September 2008, "The Ministry has decided to commemorate the birthday of this great son of India by recalling his contribution to the cause of education in India. November 11 every year, from 2008 onwards, will be celebrated as the National Education Day, without declaring it a holiday." 
  • All educational institutions in the country mark the day with seminars, symposia, essay-writing, elocution competitions, workshops and rallies with banner cards and slogans on the importance of literacy and the nation's commitment to all aspects of education.
  • The day is also seen as an occasion to remember Azad's contribution in laying the foundations of the education system in an independent India, and evaluating and improving the country's current performance in the field.

Veterans Day (United States)

  •  Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans, that is, persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces (and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable). It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
  • Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who have died while in military service.

World Science Day for Peace and Development 10 November

  •  Celebrated every 10 November, World Science Day for Peace and Development highlights the significant role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues.
  • It also underlines the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.
  • 2019 Theme: "Open science, leaving no one behind"
  • Open Science is not only an issue of science being open to the research community, as in "open access" and "open data" but refers to a science open to society.

Uttarakhand Foundation Day

  •  Uttarakhand was formed on 9 November, 2000 by joining several districts from the Northwestern part of Uttar Pradesh and a portion of the Himalayan Mountain range. 
  • 19th Uttarakhand Foundation Day was celebrated in 2019. In 2007, the name of the state was formally altered from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is famous as the Land of the Gods or "Dev Bhumi".
  •   During the time of foundation, it was named Uttaranchal. It is situated in Northern India and is a great pilgrimage centre.
