Guwahati to Host Annual Modi-Abe Summit

An interaction at a 19th century colonial riverside bungalow and a cruise on the Brahmaputra are expected to be among the highlights of the annual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe to be held in Guwahati in mid-December 2019.
The two sides zeroed in on Guwahati as the venue for the summit, the dates for which are yet to be formally announced, in view of the focus on India's northeastern states under the Act East Forum launched by India and Japan almost two years ago and the considerable development assistance provided to the region by Tokyo.
Modi and Abe are expected to cap the two-day summit with a visit to the new Peace Museum in Manipur's capital Imphal, which commemorates one of the fiercest battles of World War 2 in 1944 in which thousands of Japanese soldiers were killed.

Ocean Dance Festival 2019 Starts In Cox Bazar

The four day long Ocean Dance Festival 2019 kicked off in Cox Bazar of Bangladesh. State minister of cultural affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the festival as the chief guest last evening. Ocean Dance Festival is the largest international dance festival of Bangladesh in which more than 200 dancers, choreographers and scholars from 15 countries are participating.
The theme of this year's festival is 'Bridging the distance' or Durotter Shetubandhan. The dances performed at the event will show the idea of bridging the cultural and economic distances.
The festival is being organised by the Nrityajog which is the Bangladesh wing of World Dance Alliance (WDA). The festival aims to expand cultural tourism in Bangladesh. It also features seminars and discussion apart from the dance performances by the artists.

November 23 celebrates National Espresso Day

November 23 is National Espresso Day.
When we think of an espresso, we most likely are focused on the highly concentrated coffee brew usually served in a small cup.
But the national day calendar said in the late 1800s espresso was just a coffee made expressly for the person ordering it.
The word espresso means "quick in time" in Italian. That could be because the cup was brewed shortly before serving.
It was apparently a commonplace order in cafes and restaurants back then.

Indian Army Celebrates Poonch Link Up Day

The Indian Army commemorated Poonch Link-up day with fervour and paid tribute to soldiers and local citizens for their supreme sacrifice in defending Poonch during a conflict in 1948.
On November 22, 1948, Poonch was recaptured from Pakistani forces in 1948.
The Army honoured the day by laying wreath at the War Memorial in Poonch district.
Various events were organised for the welfare of the local citizen. Physically challenged people were presented with wheelchairs and two-wheelers.

National Adoption Day

National Adoption Day is a collective effort to raise awareness of the more than 125,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States.
A coalition of national partners — the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, Alliance for Children's Rights and Children's Action Network — founded National Adoption Day.
On November 18, 2000, the coalition and the Freddie Mac Foundation encouraged nine cities to open their courts on or around the Saturday before Thanksgiving to finalize and celebrate adoptions from foster care.
The first National Adoption Day was inspired by the innovative efforts of Michael Nash, a former presiding judge of Los Angeles County's Juvenile Court. He opened the court on Saturdays, engaged the volunteer efforts of court personnel and finalized adoptions to reduce the backlog of one of the busiest courts in the nation.

India to Host Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of SCO Member States

The 5th Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States' Heads of Ministries and Departments of Science and Technology and Permanent Working Group on S&T Cooperation concluded in Moscow, Russia. Secretary, DSIR & DG, CSIR, Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, led the Indian delegation.
Eight SCO Member States' Heads of Delegation signed the Protocol of 5th Meeting of Ministries and Departments of S&T at the end of the three-day meeting.
The meeting agreed with India's proposal to host the SCO Forum of Young Scientists and Innovators in 2020.
The leaders also approved holding of joint competition for SCO Multilateral R& D projects by end of 2020. Rules for joint competition and funding as well as financial support mechanism will be prepared and worked out in due course.

Two-Day Conference of Governors Commences at Rashtrapati Bhavan

The two-day Conference of Governors and Lt. Governors commenced at Rashtrapati Bhavan with the inaugural address of the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind.
This is the 50th such Conference held in Rashtrapati Bhavan and the third Conference presided over by President Kovind.

India's First Largest Biotechnology Conference Global Bio-India Summit, 2019 Concludes

India's first largest biotechnology stakeholders conglomerate, – the Global Bio-India (GBI) Summit, 2019 was held at New Delhi.
The three-day event was organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India along with its Public Sector Undertaking, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
The associated partners for this event were Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE) and Invest India.

World Philosophy Day

Philosophy is the study of the nature of reality and existence, of what is possible to know, and of right and wrong behavior.
It comes from the Greek word phílosophía, meaning 'the love of wisdom.' It is one of the most important fields of human thought as it aspires to get at the very meaning of life.
World Philosophy Day was introduced in 2002 by UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)
In 2005 the UNESCO General Conference proclaimed that World Philosophy Day would be celebrated every third Thursday of November (November 21, 2019).
2019 observance
The 2019 edition aims to highlight the importance of philosophy in different regional contexts.
The goal is to obtain regional contributions to global debates on contemporary challenges that support social transformations.
The purpose of this approach is to foster regional dynamics, stimulating global collaboration to address major challenges such as migration, radicalization, environmental change, or artificial intelligence.

BEE Conducts International Workshop on EV Charging Infrastructure

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in association with the International Energy Agency (IEA) organised an international workshop on 'Policy Framework to deploy Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure.
The day-long workshop was part of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) framework.
The workshop featured highly insightful sessions that deliberated on best international practices, policies, regulatory framework, etc for stakeholders of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), service provider, state nodal agencies and policymakers to lay the foundation of future actions towards accelerated deployment of EV charging system in the country.
Abhay Bakre, Director General,Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), said the need of the hour was to create a well-planned, accessible and affordable charging infrastructure.

World Fisheries Day

World Fisheries Day is celebrated on 21 November every year. The day aims to highlight the importance of healthy ocean ecosystems.
It also ensures the sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world. Fishing communities celebrate the day by conduction events like public meetings, rallies, workshops, exhibitions, cultural dramas, and music shows.
A study by the United Nations reported that more than two-thirds of the world's fisheries have been overfished or are fully harvested. It also said that more than one third are in a state of decline because of factors such as the loss of essential fish habitats, pollution, and global warming.

UGC asks Higher Educational Institutions to Celebrate Constitution Day on Nov 26

University Grants Commission, UGC has issued circular to higher educational institutions to celebrate Constitution Day on 26th of November.
On this day in 1949, the Constitution was adopted which came into force on 26th January, 1950, marking the beginning of a new era in the history of India.
The commission has requested universities and affiliated colleges to make dedicated efforts to promote and spread awareness about the constitution and fundamental duties among their students, teachers, staff and officials.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat inaugurates IPEC at Nagpur

RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat inaugurated the International Principal's Education Conference (IPEC) at Nagpur.
Highlighting the importance of individual excellence in the education system Mr. Bhagwat said, striving for excellence holds the key for becoming successful in life.
He stressed that it is the responsibility of educational institutes to mould the students into fearless, confident human beings in true sense.
Super 30 founder and noted mathematician Anand Kumar was honored with Nachiketa Sarvottama Award on the occasion. Mr.Kumar said, Teaching is a noble profession and teacher is an important personality in everyone's life.
He dedicated this award to all the teachers who are working for the upliftment of underprivileged children.

World Television Day

The first World Television Forum was held in 1996. Following the forum a resolution was passed in the United Nations General Assembly in the month of December in 1996 by force of which 21st November was henceforth effectively organized as the World Television Day.
This was an acceptance of the vast reach and impact of geo-televisual communication on the present world scenario and hence World Television Day was adopted as yet another symbol of the power constituted in new media.
