Global Family Day

Global Family Day is celebrated every year on January 1. This holiday is recognised by many people, who want to spend one day with their family. Unlike many other observances and holidays, Global Family Day appeared spontaneously, that's why it's very hard to find the person or organisation responsible for its establishment. However, this holiday gains more and more popularity and many people celebrate it. The history of Global Family Day begins with the UN General Assembly proclamation of the first year of the millennium to begin International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World. This event ushered celebration of One Day in Peace and, subsequently, Global Family Day, which is also known as One Day of Peace and Sharing. Although Global Family Day is celebrated only in the USA, all families around the world are also encouraged to participate. Regardless of country, religion, race or political affiliation, all families should gather together on the first day of the year to spend this time in peace and share love with each other.

Jaitley's Birth Anniversary as State Function

The Nitish Kumar government decided to celebrate former Union Finance Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley's birth anniversary on December 28 as a state function every year.
Kumar had on December 28 last unveiled Jaitley's life-size statue in Kankarbagh area of the state capital on occasion of his birth anniversary.

New Year's Eve

In the Gregorian calendar, New Year's Eve (also known as Old Year's Day or Saint Sylvester's Day in many countries), the last day of the year, is on December 31. In many countries, New Year's Eve is celebrated at evening social gatherings, where many people dance, eat, drink, and watch or light fireworks.
Tonga and Kiritimati (Christmas Island), part of Kiribati, are examples of the first places to welcome the New Year while Baker Island in the United States of America is among the last.

Congress Foundation Day

Congress president Sonia Gandhi hoisted the tricolour at the party headquarters to kick-start its 134th foundation day celebrations.
Senior Congress leaders including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Motilal Vora, AK Antony, and Rahul Gandhi sang 'Vande Matram' on the occasion. The party held marches throughout the country to spread the message of 'Save Constitution-Save India' and its leaders read the Preamble of the Constitution in their respective languages at public meetings organised for this purpose during the day.

Good Governance Day (India)

Good Governance Day (GGD) is observed annually on December 25 to create awareness of accountability in government among the Indians. The day marks the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. National Good governance day was established in 2014 to honor Atal Bihari Vajpayee by fostering awareness among the people of accountability in government.
On December 23, 2014, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya (posthumously) were announced as recipients of India's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna. Following the announcement, the Modi government announced that the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister would be henceforth commemorated annually in India as Good Governance Day.

First Annual Meet of State Nodal Agencies for Ecoclub Programme

First Annual Meet of State Nodal Agencies for Ecoclub program of the Ministry of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) was held in Gujarat.
The Annual Meet of the State Nodal Agencies implements the National Green Corps Ecoclub program of the Ministry of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). The Ministry's Environment Education Division organised it in collaboration with the GEER Foundation, Gujarat, held in Kevadia, Gujarat. Senior officers from 22 States and UTs implementing the program, along with about 200 Ecoclub students from Gujarat, participated. An exhibition also showcased the projects, resource material, and handicraft items. It was prepared by the Eco-club students across the States/UTs. The event witnessed a huge footfall, even of other tourists and visitors.

National Consumers Right Day

National Consumers Right Day is observed on 24th December to raise awareness about the rights of consumers and responsibilities. This is the day when the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 had received the assent of the President.
The aim of the enactment of the Consumer Protection Act is to provide safeguards to the consumers against various types of exploitation like defective goods, deficiency in services and unfair trade practices.
Major Objectives
1. To promote and protect the rights of Consumer such as Right to

• be protected against the marketing of goods and services which are hazardous to life and property.
• be informed about the quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard and price of goods or services, as the case may be so as to protect the consumer against unfair trade practices.
• be assured, wherever possible, access to a variety of goods and services at competitive prices.
• be heard and to be assured that consumer's interest will receive due consideration at appropriate forums.
• seek redressal against unfair trade practices or restrictive trade practices or unscrupulous exploitation of consumers.
• to consumer education.

2. To provide speedy and simple redressal to consumer, a quasi - judicial machinery is sought to be set up at the district, State & Central level.
