The 19th council of heads of government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will be hosted by India later this year (2020). This would be the first high-level meeting of the SCO that would be organised here since India's admission to the eight-member grouping.
The economic and security bloc which initially comprised of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, included India and Pakistan in 2017. India took over the presidency of the heads of government' meeting last year and it was announced in the 18th meeting of the SCO's Council of heads of government-held in Tashkent in 2019.
World Future Energy Summit 2020 Begins in Abu Dhabi
The 13th edition of the World Future Energy Summit was inaugurated in Abu Dhabi on January 13, 2020 by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The four-day summit is expected to see nearly 33,500 visitors. It will conclude on January 16.
As a part of the event, the Climate Innovations Exchange (CLIX) and the Future Sustainability Summit will also be conducted.
The Future Sustainability Summit is being held under the theme "Rethinking Global Consumption, Production, and Investment."
Armed Forces Veterans Day
14th January is being observed as Armed Forces Veterans Day as a mark of recognition and respect of the services rendered by the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, Field Marshal KM Cariappa. The day acknowledges and honors the sacrifice of our military veterans who have served the nation with selfless devotion. The day was first observed in 2017, this year marks the 4th Armed Forces Veterans Day of India. From all three services, Veteran officers and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) along with three-star officers will pay to attend a homage ceremony at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. Later in the afternoon, the Chiefs of Army, Air force and Navy will be attending a Veterans Day function at the Manekshaw Centre located in the Delhi.

National Youth Day (India)
National Youth Day is celebrated on 12 January being the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984 the Government of India declared this day as National Youth Day and since from 1985 the event is celebrated in India every year. It was a decision of Government of India taken in 1984 to celebrate the birthday of great Swami Vivekananda, i.e. 12 January, as National Youth Day every year. The Government of India quoted that ' the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth Day.

India Pulses And Grains Association Announces 'The Pulses Conclave 2020'
India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA), the nodal body for India's pulses trade and industry today announced that the fifth edition 'The Pulses Conclave', their biennial global pulses conference will be held from Feb. 12th to 14th, 2020 at Amby Valley City in Lonavala, Maharashtra.
IPGA expects close to 1500 trade stakeholders from India and key pulses exporting countries like the USA, Australia, Canada, Myanmar, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, etc. to participate in 'The Pulses Conclave 2020' (TPC 2020).
