Nationwide Programme To Administer Polio Drops To Children Organized On National Immunization Day
On the National immunization day, with an aim to maintain the 'NO POLIO' status, a nationwide programme to administer polio drops to children below 5 years was organized throughout the country. President Ram Nath Kovind launched the Pulse Polio Programme for this year by administering Polio drops to children below the age of five at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Puducherry chief minister Narayanasamy launched the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme in the union territory today. Around 82,000 children were administered polio drops through 452 centres throughout the union territory. Health department sources said, this immunization programme would be held for the next two days to cover all the left out children by door to door visit.
Elecrama 2020 Is Being Held In Uttar Pradesh
Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar and R K Singh inaugurated Elecrama on 18 January 2020, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It is being organized by the industry body the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA). The five-day event targets businesses worth Rs.30,000 crore. The event will be held from 18-22 January 2020.

The 14th Foundation Day of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) was celebrated at a function in New Delhi on 18th January 2020. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry Shri PiyushGoyal congratulated team DFCCIL for completing 500 km of Dedicated Freight Corridor and exhorted the team to achieve the goal of 991 km by March 2020.
Climate Crisis In Spotlight At Davos Event
A decade of extreme weather events and global warming have catapulted climate emergency to the top of the list of issues worrying the world's elite, who have reached the Alpine ski resort of Davos in Switzerland for the 50th edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF)'s Annual Meeting from January 21-25.
The meeting will be carbon neutral for the fourth consecutive year with the smart use of clean energy, green materials, and smart design, and the investment in certified projects that reduce emissions worldwide.
The meeting, which will be attended by 3,000 participants from 117 countries including 53 heads of state and government, is themed "Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World". It will put the spotlight on stakeholder capitalism, rising debt, Brexit and climate crisis.

The 13-day book fair will go on till January 21, 2020.

E-Summit 2k20 at IIT Hyderabad
The E Cell of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) will organise a two-day 'E-Summit 2k20' on January 18 and 19. Touted to be one of the biggest entrepreneurship conclaves in the country, the summit focuses on promoting entrepreneurship among students who want to become entrepreneurs.
The summit, with the theme 'Re-envisioning India 2020', will have a series of talks and panel discussions, covering various aspects of entrepreneurship.
The event would have sessions on Investor's Perspective; Impact of automation on jobs; the importance of investment in research and development and how to tap global markets.
Over 90 startups are expected to participate in this event.

Mega campaign on fuel conservation 'Saksham' to be launched in January 2020
Saksham, a people centric fuel conservation mega campaign of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) will be launched on January, 16.
One month long mega campaign will be inaugurated by Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi.
During this campaign, PCRA along with Oil and Gas companies will carry out various activities like 'Saksham' cycle Day, cyclothons, seminars for housewives on adopting simple fuel saving measure.
This campaign aims to spread the message of fuel conservation and greener environment across India.
PCRA has been creating awareness in the public about the need for fuel conservation and adopting tips for saving fuel.

Prime Minister Participated in the 50th Anniversary of Thuglak Magazine
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the 50th Anniversary function of Tamil Magazine Thuglak at Chennai through Video Conference.
Addressing the gathering Prime Minister praised the illustrious progress made by the magazine in the last 50 years. He however regretted the passing away of its founder Cho Ramaswamy.
Prime Minister said that the magazine was based on Facts, Intelligent Arguments and Satire.
