International Holocaust Remembrance Day

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day on 27th January commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War. It commemorates the genocide that resulted in the deaths of 6 million Jews and 11 million others, by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 60/7 on 1st November 2005 during the 42nd plenary session. The resolution came after a special session was held earlier that year on 24th January 2005 during which the United Nations General Assembly marked the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and the end of the Holocaust.
On 27 January 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and death camp, was liberated by the Red Army.
Prior to the 60/7 resolution, there had been national days of commemoration, such as Germany's Tag des Gedenkens an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus (The Day of Remembrance for the victims of National Socialism), established in a proclamation issued by Federal President Roman Herzog on 3rd January 1996; and the Holocaust memorial day observed every 27th January since 2001 in the UK.
The Holocaust Remembrance Day is also a national event in the United Kingdom and in Italy.
This year marks the 75th year since Soviet troops liberated the death camp.

National Girl Child Day Celebrated across Country

The National Girl Child Day is celebrated across the country today. It was started by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development on 24th January 2008 with the purpose to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities girls face in the Indian society.
The day is celebrated by organizing various programs including awareness campaigns on save the girl child, child sex ratio and creating a healthy and safe environment for a girl child.
In Nagaland, various activities are being held across the districts to celebrate the National Girl Child Day. Marking the occasion, week-long awareness campaigns such as rallies and signature campaigns are organized in towns and villages by the District Administration in collaboration with the Mahila Shakti Kendras, State Women and Child development department. The District Administrations are also conducting door to door campaign with Anganwadi workers and ASHA.

Election Commission to Host 1st Sukumar Sen Memorial Lecture

Election Commission will host the first Sukumar Sen Memorial Lecture. Former President Pranab Mukherjee will deliver the first of the Lectures.
The EC has decided to institute an Annual Lecture Series as a tribute to the first Chief Election Commissioner of India, Sukumar Sen. He commendably conducted the first two General Elections to the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, thereby putting India firmly on the map of democracy.
The rationale behind instituting the lecture is to make a positive and constructive intervention in the democratic discourse of the nation within the constitutional mandate of the EC.

16 States and UTs along with 6 Central Ministries to Participate in Republic Day Parade

Sixteen states and Union Territories and Six Central Ministries will participate in the Republic Day Parade this year at Rajpath in New Delhi.
Start-up India, Jal Jeevan Mission and Financial Inclusion are some of the themes of the tableaux of Ministries and Departments.
The Walled City of Jaipur and Gujarat's iconic step-well in Patan and the 550th Anniversary of Sikhism Founder Guru Nanak Dev will be thematically showcased among the host of tableaux in the Republic Day function.

National Tourism Day in India

January 25 is celebrated as National Tourism Day in India. It is a day that has been marked by the Indian government in order to promote tourism within the country. It's a day dedicated to educating people about the importance of tourism and the role it plays in the Indian economy. It is perhaps the best day to know how amazing a country India is when it comes to travel and tourism. Year after year, India has captured the fascination of many foreign travelers. People from Israel, USA, England, Australia, New Zealand flock India for its historical, cultural and spiritual heritage.

Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti or or birth anniversary is celebrated every year on 23rd January.
Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti or birth anniversary is celebrated across India will full of fervour and zest. A revolutionary freedom fighter, Bose was a valiant leader who refused to bow down to Britishers during East India company's rule over India that saw him rise to incredible powers. He created the famous slogan 'Jai Hind' and was first to address Mahatma Gandhi as 'Father of the Nation'. Bose's birthday commemorates his unmatched patriotism for India.
On this day, several functions and programmes across different parts of the country are organised by central and state governments in honour of the legendary 'Netaji'. Various schools and colleges hold various kinds of competitions such as skits, essay writing, debates, quiz, drama, etc. States like Jharkhand observe official holiday on this day.

The 2nd edition of NIC TechConclave 2020 to be held in New Delhi

The 2nd edition of NIC TechConclave 2020 is to be held on 21-22 January 2020 at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The conclave will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Law & Justice, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad. Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Communications and Human Resource Development, Shri Dhotre Sanjay Shamrao, the Secretary-MeitY, Shri Ajay Sawhney and the President, CISCO (India and SAARC), Shri Sameer Garde will also grace the occasion.
Organized by: The two-day event will be organized by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Theme: The theme of the NIC TechConclave 2020 is Technologies for NextGen Governance.
