PM Narendra Modi to Participate in NAM Virtual Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would participate in the virtual summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to enhance coordination of the member states in their fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
PM Modi would take part in the NAM virtual summit which is being organised at the initiative of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev in his capacity as the current chair of the movement.
The online session will conclude with a political declaration of the movement "uniting against Covid-19" as well as identified measures for enhanced coordination among NAM members in their battle against the coronavirus.

International Astronomy Day 2020

The International Astronomy Day is celebrated twice a year (bi-annual), once in the spring(in 2020- May 2) & another in autumn(in 2020- October 5).
On this day, professional and amateur astronomers all over the world share their great field with the Universe to the public, through observing sessions, displays and information booths in malls, science centres and planetariums to increase public awareness about astronomy and the universe.

International Dawn Chorus Day

The first Sunday in the month of May (May 3) is celebrated as International Dawn Chorus Day every year.
International broadcasters from about 70 countries collaborate to air a live seven-hour celebration of birdsong in which listeners are taken through an aural journey, as the great wave of birdsong gradually moves from east to west with the rising sun.

World Tuna Day 2020

It is observed on 2 May and is established by the United Nations (UN) to raise awareness about the importance of tuna fish. The day was first time observed in 2017.
Tuna is a fish and are economically important to both developed and developing countries. They are a significant source of food and has amazing qualities due to which they are threatened by overwhelming demand. According to UN, approximately 7 million tonnes of tuna and tuna-like species are landed yearly.

International Labour Day

May 1 is observed as the International Labour Day in order to celebrate the labours and the working class.
The date May 1 was chosen to commemorate the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago. It is on this day people had declared a general strike for an eight-hour workday.

Ayushman Bharat Diwas 2020

Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated across the country every year on the 30th of April. The day is significant to help provide and promote affordable medical facilities in the remote parts of the country.
The day included a special scheme that was launched by PM Narendra Modi in the year 2018. The Scheme has various benefits with a cover of 5 lakh rupees per family to be given per year.

International Guide Dog Day

Every year, the last Wednesday of April (April 29, 2020) is celebrated as International Guide Dog Day.
The day honours the importance of a guide dog in the life of a person who is visually impaired or blind.

International Jazz Day

International Jazz Day is an International Day declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2011 "to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe."
It is celebrated annually on April 30.
