Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan today participated in the 32nd Commonwealth Health Ministers' Meeting through Video conference.
He highlighted the timely, graded and pro-active measures taken by India towards COVID-19 management.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said, India has been the first country to urge consolidated global action to fight the challenge of COVID-19.
India took all necessary and timely steps including surveillance at points of entry, evacuation of our nationals abroad, surveillance in community through disease surveillance network and community involvement as part of its management efforts.
International Day of Families
The International Day of Families is observed on the 15th of May every year.
The Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 with resolution A/RES/47/237 and reflects the importance the international community attaches to families.
2nd Extraordinary G20 Virtual Trade and Investment Ministerial Meet
The second edition of Extraordinary G20 Virtual Trade and Investment Ministerial Meet was held under the presidency of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was chaired by the Saudi Minister of Commerce, Majid Al Qasabi, in the presence of the Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Faleh.
In the virtual meeting, India was represented by the Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

India Participates in SCO Foreign Ministers Virtual Meeting
India participated in a meeting of foreign ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on May 13, 2020. The eight-member SCO meeting was taken place via video conference.
The meeting of the foreign ministers was aimed at discussing the cooperation to fight against deadly COVID-19 virus.
The External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar represented India at the meet which saw the participation of foreign ministers from eight countries.
Former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed's Birth Anniversary
President Ram Nath Kovind paid homage to former President of India, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
He paid his respects before the portrait of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed.
Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the fifth President of India from 1974 to 1977 and also the 2nd President of India to die in office.

International Nurses Day (IND) is observed around the world on 12 May of each year. The international day marks the contributions that nurses make to society. The day assumes more significance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past several months, nurses and other medical professionals have put their lives on the line to save lives and defeat this menace.
The theme for 2020 International Nurses Day is "Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Nursing the World to Health."

National Technology Day
National Technology Day is being observed on May 11 to signify the glorious achievements of Indian science and technology.
On this day in 1998, India successfully carried out nuclear tests in Rajasthan's Pokhran. On the same day India also performed successful test firing of the Trishul Missile and had test flown the first indigenous aircraft - 'Hansa - 3'.
A high-level digital conference on Rebooting the Economy through Science, Technology and Research is being organized by Technology Development Board to mark the day.
