Indian Army Launches E-SeHAT Tele-Consultancy for Veterans
The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) introduced the Electronic Services e-Health Assistance and Tele-consultation (E-SeHAT) module. This initiative allows ECHS beneficiaries to receive online medical consultations from their homes, eliminating the need to visit ECHS Polyclinics. The E-SeHAT module offers structured, video-based consultations, aiming to enhance healthcare delivery for veterans by providing timely and quality medical care remotely.
The pilot phase of E-SeHAT was initiated at 12 ECHS Polyclinics, including those in remote locations such as Baramulla, Imphal, Churachandpur, Dimapur, and Aizawal. The project has successfully conducted tele-consultations with remote beneficiaries in these areas. The full nationwide rollout of E-SeHAT is scheduled for November 2024.
MoD, Uttar Pradesh Ink Pact to Set up 3 Test Facilities in State
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up three state-of-the-art testing facilities under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).
One facility will be established in Lucknow in the Mechanical & Material (M&M) domain, and two in Kanpur, one each in Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and Communications domains. The MoU, under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS), was exchanged between senior officials of MoD and UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) in Delhi.

The Quad agreed to expand a maritime domain awareness initiative to the Indian Ocean to bolster maritime security and counter illegal activities, and finalised a response mechanism to enhance coordination for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).
A meeting of the Quad Foreign Ministers in Tokyo also decided to harness digital and emerging technologies to improve food security under the AI-Engage programme and to roll out Open RAN (open radio access network) telecommunications in the Pacific Ocean archipelago of Palau.

INS Tabar In Saint Petersburg for Russian Navy Day Celebrations
INS Tabar, a frontline frigate of the Indian Navy, was in Saint Petersburg and participated in the 328th Russian Navy Day celebrations. The ship, part of the Indian Navy's Western Fleet based in Mumbai under the Western Naval Command, was warmly welcomed by the Russian Federation Navy (RuFN).
INS Tabar is commanded by Captain MR Harish and has a complement of 280 personnel. It is equipped with a versatile range of weapons and sensors and is one of the earliest stealth frigates in the Indian Navy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted the Indian Navy personnel onboard INS Tabar, as he reviewed the Main Naval Parade on the Neva River.

H. S. Dhaliwal New DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) appointed senior IPS officer H. S. Dhaliwal as the new Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Prior to his new role, Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer, served as the special commissioner of police in New Delhi, overseeing traffic zone-II.
Throughout his career, Dhaliwal has achieved significant milestones, including solving high-profile cases such as the Dhaula Kuan gangrape, journalist Saumya Vishwanathan's murder, and the Jigisha Ghosh murder case. He also played a crucial role in investigating the murder case involving Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Meanwhile, incumbent DGP Devesh Chandra Srivastva has been transferred to New Delhi.

Indian Army Contingent to Participate in Joint Military Ex Khaan Quest 2024 in Mongolia
The Indian Army contingent will participate in the 21st edition of the multinational joint military exercise Khaan Quest 2024, which is scheduled to be held in Mongolia.
The joint military exercise will be held from July 27 to August 9.
Khaan Quest 2024 is aimed at enhancing the interoperability of the participating nations during peacekeeping missions in a multinational environment.
10% Reservation for Ex-Agniveers in CAPFs, Assam Rifles
The government decided to reserve 10 per cent of vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles for ex-Agniveers, the Rajya Sabha was informed.
A provision was made for relaxation in the upper age limit and exemption from the Physical Efficiency Test in the recruitment to the post of constable (general duty) and rifleman in the CAPFs and Assam Rifles for ex-Agniveers, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said.
